  1. You're right...you don't know. The Vietcong favored suicide grenade attacks. Iraq has nothing on Cambodia for "how much worse"....see "Killing Fields". I would really like to see a link regarding viet cong and suicide bombs that compare to Iraq.
  2. I like the one where Cheney sent Gonzalas over to Ashcroft's hospital room to attempt to get him to sign off on the White House's illegal domestic surveillance program. The man is pure evil.
  3. That's what they said about Vietnam and Cambodia too. Really? I didn't know the viet cong strapped on bombs to blow themselves and anyone near by to bits. Pray tell, how much worse can you get than that?
  4. It will never be any worse in Iraq with withdrawal.
  5. Maybe they don't criticise other presidents because there has yet to be one as destructive as Dubya.
  6. Now that's scary. Corrections. You seemed to have missed a significant part of that statement....therefore, you have it out of context. Here is the complete statement. Still scary.
  7. God didn't 'create people to kill in His name.' That's people's doing. Yet God, on numerous occasions told man to kill man. Read Leviticus 20 sometime. God didn't write Leviticus. So the Bible isn't God's word?
  8. Why stop there? Bring in Danfur and Rwanda as well.
  9. Care to tally the latest civilian death rate due to Bush's little incursion? Willing to wager that the average Iraqi won't say they were better off under Saddam?
  10. How do you know? As far as public responsiblity the church seems to be lacking there. How many bishops have openly addressed the diocese and publicly apologised for the specific conduct of individual priests? What you really mean is why hasn't the Church donned sack cloth and ashes and flagellated itself through the streets on its knees while passing cash out hand over fist. Meanwhile, out there in burning car land, Islam has yet to utter a mere squeak of apology over the sawing off of numerous heads in numerous countries all over the globe. Yes, I know, it has no pope or bishops, so it's not fair to expect anything of the sort from Islam. Besides, its Mullahs are far too busy waving swords and calling for more heads...preferably ones formerly attached to the shoulders of pigs and apes from the Zionist entity. I think you and geoff are quite confused. You've dragged Islam into this thread to serve some purpose known only to yourselves. Since you obviously know nothing of which I speak, I suggest you find another topic to hijack.
  11. What has the church been doing about it, specifically in Canada? What change are you talking about? I find your post flippant to say the least.
  12. How do you know? As far as public responsiblity the church seems to be lacking there. How many bishops have openly addressed the diocese and publicly apologised for the specific conduct of individual priests? Much of the cases that settle out of court have been sealed permanently regarding specific details of the case (i.e.,settlement amounts, arbitration transcripts etc.) requiring a confidential agreement not to release informtion on threat of lawsuit. I know because my wife signed one. And her lawyer indicated that the Church intimidates most claiments to settle for very little after using various stall techniques. My wife's case took 11 years. The church obstructed justice 94 times in that period. That record was swept under the rug after my wife agreed to settle for an undisclosed amount. At any rate, there are tons of unsettled claims still in litigation. But the church has made sure very few know about them.
  13. Thanks for the compliment. Basically, I am liberal and left of center. But those issues, such as racial inclusion, gender inclusion and gay inclusion, which I feel strongly about, are generally not debated. I oppose preferences based on those criteria, but am below no one in my advocacy of the view that people should be permitted to rise to the levels their competence allows. Any other position needlessly impoverishes society. After reading through a few threads here, it's obvious you may have your work cut out for you. I'm surprised the moderator lets the bigotry and racism slip on by. But then, to the right, it's just another day's joke.
  14. Compare crime rates of the U.S. with other western nations, handgun deaths in particular.
  15. God didn't 'create people to kill in His name.' That's people's doing. Yet God, on numerous occasions told man to kill man. Read Leviticus 20 sometime.
  16. You have to admit that Harper does seem to follow Bush's handbook to some extent, i.e., control freak, unannounced trips to the troops, against kyoto, can't take criticism well, flag pin ever present in his lapel. to name a few. Personally I don't trust the guy, in much the same way I didn't trust Mulroney. To me he has proven to be a little too dishonest and shady (re the crap he pulled on election day:Emerson and Fortier).
  17. Why is it that when one disagrees with Harper we're accused by the right as being hateful? Much like how the U.S. repubs call their critics traitors. You guys can't seem to take any criticism. Time to get out of the sandbox.
  18. Save some gas...go to the Big Valley Creation Science Museum in Alberta instead: http://www.bvcsm.com/ Yep, a real bastion of naivete, and only a few miles from the real thing at Drumheller. That takes balls.
  19. Why am I being hypocitical? Who have I hurled false accusations at? Think back. It'll come to ya.
  20. I base my logic pertaining to man's advancement in the civilized world enforced with the beliefs of Christianity. Do you actually believe that the progress of Western man would advance without creationism and Christianity? Maybe you don't and maybe I don't, but it is obvious many people do as been proven by the moralistic breakdown of an increasingly orderless, valueless, materialistic bent Western society with third world leeches snapping at our feet, trying to position themselves to take control of broken Western society. It seems to me that, according to the title of this thread, Americans are more religious these days. And yet you are saying there is a breakdown of morals?
  21. Really? The record speaks otherwise: VATICAN CITY (CNN) -- Pope John Paul II has acknowledged mistakes in the handling of the U.S. priest sexual abuse scandal plaguing the Roman Catholic Church. "The abuse which has caused this crisis is by every standard wrong and rightly considered a crime by society; it is also an appalling sin in the eyes of God." — Pope John Paul II http://archives.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/europe/...ndal/index.html The pontiff was addressing American bishops. Where is the apology for sexual abuse by priests worldwide?
