  1. There's nothing stopping Liberal and NDP MPs from voluntarily making the contracts to run their offices open to the public.
  2. Would embody or personify be appropriate adjectives?
  3. Exactly. Despite any unsubstantiated Liberal cheerleader claims to the opposite that would suffice.
  4. This story broke more than a year after Cadman died. Seems like the perfect setup for a pseudo-scandal. Create a scandal that is sensational, but cannot be proved. Sadly for the Liberals the public has grown wise to their 'Barney the Dinosaur' tactics which were seen as 'successful' despite the fact that Stockwell Day is the second worst OLO ever! (At least Steph has knocked Stock outta the number one spot )
  5. You? Or at least you did an hour ago. Nevermind the fact that of course he would be leaving politics if he accepted an appointment.
  6. Far from it. How about getting back to Toews' eminent qualifications to serve as a judge?
  7. Crown Attorney in Manitoba - 1977 to 1987 Director of Constitutional Law for Manitoba - 1987 to 1991 Appointed Queen's Counsel - 1991 Manitoba's Minister of Justice and Attorney General 1997 to 1999 Justice Critic for the Official Opposition of Canada 2001 to 2006 Federal Minister of Justice 2006 to 2007 That appears to be 30 years experience of knowing the law...
  8. And judges for that matter. But most of them are Liberals so no big problem. Freedom of religion for all - as long as they aren't Christian! Can you imagine the howls of protest from the left if the same were said about a member of any other religion? The hypocrisy is sickening.
  9. Warren Kinsella's May 16th post has a demand for an apology. Link Large tax cuts? A revenue neutral tax cut? Getting green while getting rich? Massive increases to social spending? Staying in budget surplus? Yeah, that's a real easy sell.
  10. Half the posts on this thread are Dobbin's. Just another attempt at starting something. You are the only one to fall for his rabble-rousing. The majority have spoken. Non-issue. What is the big issue here? Toews is eminently qualified.
  11. Ahh, there's the rub. And where the Liberals crossed the line. It is perfectly legitimate for the CPC to have offered to have paid Cadman's campaign expenses. It all depends on the context of the conversation. However, there has never been any proof that those discussions crossed the line to bribery. As such, publicly accusing the CPC of bribery was defamatory. Was the claim false? Yes. Did it hurt the reputation of the Government of Canada? Yes. Should the Liberals fire the staffers who defamed the Prime Minister? Absolutely! Will Steph show the strength of leadership to do the right thing? Probably not.
  12. Three straight replies, I'm not sure if I should be honoured or feel somehow targeted. Wait that's right, you've had the same quote from a PM in your signature for over a year. That was from the former object of your obsessive tendencies. I guess I'm just your newest object of obsession. Oh that's right, the first post had to be the personal attack. Sorry forgot about that. What exactly was the offer? Don't know if that has ever been proven. That's why the tactics of the three Liberal staffers are libelous. But I guess your rationale here is to defend the Liberal smear tactics in Ottawa while attacking anything the CPC does. Hypocrisy! It lost the Liberals the last election, looks like they are sticking with the same game plan. All the better for ensuring the CPC majority next time around.
  13. It must drive some left wingers here crazy that yet another CPC 'scandal' has been proven to be nothing more than the Liberals grasping at straws. Yet again, the issue is Steph's inability to lead. A true leader would have admitted the huge mistake his staffers made in accusing the Conservatives of bribery and fired them. A true leader would realize what a dangerous mistake the carbon tax flip flop/proposal was and have changed course. Thankfully Steph isn't a true leader. Thankfully for the likelihood of a CPC majority that is!!!
  14. It must drive some left wingers here crazy the claims this 'plan' won't raise fuel prices is so patently false that ABSOLUTELY no one is buying it.
  15. Still no comment on the smear tactics of the Liberal staffers? I guess fairness and respect isn't really a two-way street for everybody around here, despite protestations to the opposite.
  16. So does this advice come from long-experience in libel law? Still ignoring the slanderous behaviour of the Liberal staffers and your own libelous experience behaviour on this board?
  17. An accusation of bribery is far more than a 'political opinion'. Liberal staffers made such allegations. They should be forced to pay for such slanderous behaviour. You are aware of the penalties associated with libel aren't you? Isn't that what forced you to cease your libelous accusations of stalking?
  18. Do you have no opinion on the Liberal staffers who accused the Conservatives of bribery? Why should those charges be dropped?
  19. So there is no reason for questioning the smear tactics of the Liberals? Three staffers alleged bribery and it's up to the courts? In accusing the Conservatives of bribery the Liberal staffers crossed the line. How is their behaviour defensible now that the RCMP has found there is no basis for laying charges?
  20. The Cadman affair is a perfect example of the Liberals lowering the tone in the House of Commons, and outside. Now that the RCMP has found that there is no evidence to file charges will there be any apologies from the LPC? Will the three staffers who made the bribery allegations be dealt with? They should, but I don't think anyone will be holding their breathe. Link
  21. There's the rub Wilber. Seems like Dion's flip flop on a carbon tax will be the defining issue of the campaign and it's a surefire path to a Conservative majority. Less than two years ago Dion was against a carbon tax. Link What has changed in the last two years? How will he explain the flip flop?
  22. There seemed to be a truce, which I observed once you told me about it, until Fortunata started using 'Steve'. Is that fair to say? Fair enough, you didn't mean 'simmer down' as an order. But why no response when I politely told you that Fortunata broke the truce? Hey a truce is a great thing if the only people allowed to break it are on your side of the aisle. Yes, I called Dion Stephanie just as many users here called Harper Stevie. When the rules were enforced evenly there was no reason to use that name anymore. Why use Michael the Martyr? It's clearly directed at me, clearly meant as an insult. Please stop it.
  23. What can't you believe? You told me to simmer down and not use Steph. I did ... until I saw Fortunata using Steve. I emailed you letting you know that the 'truce', as you called it, had been broken. Having received that email how could you think that Steve wasn't being used? Don't kid yourself with how respectful you have been to me. How is telling me what to do and ignoring my pm respectful? I'll respectfully ask you, did you say anything to Fortunata? It bothered you enough to send me a pm ordering me to simmer down... Absolutely agreed. I have no problem observing a truce with respect to personal names, but won't let it be one-sided. Always respectful? Really.... That was 20 years ago. He changed his mind. He has stated publicly since than that he prefers to be called Stephen. Ignoring his wishes is just childish.
  24. Do you think the swing CPC-Liberal voters who will decide whether or not the CPC gets a majority in the election believe that? I really hope the Liberal braintrust does and tries to force an election over the plan. Does Steph have the cojones? Doubtful, but man it would be sweet. The Liberals would be lucky to match their seat total from 1984.
  25. Just like the MST to GST move was supposed to be revenue neutral? Yet another reason why this policy is a sure-fire election loser. Please, please, please force a fall election Steph and try and make this policy the centrepiece of the election. Another sage set of observations by Warren Kinsella on the carbon tax proposal.
