  1. I wish I had access to the actual paper sadly, I am at not near a school comp, but alas, a summary is the next best I can do. http://www.commonwealthfund.org/publicatio...m?doc_id=283969
  2. Wow. That is what it costs to provide health care for 3 Canadians. I would just be a tad blaze knowing that I would have to insure myself against $40 Hospital Bath Sponges, or $25 boxes of facial tissue. And those lawyers/malpractice fees....ohh boy. What I find ironic is that the American desire for anti-bureaucratic healthcare in fact spawned a system which spends almost twice as much per patient on bureaucratic work alone compared to Europe. Private enterprise is the way to go. Almost always. It is more efficient. More transparent. But in medicine, I have my doubts. Medicine is what I deem a vital service, along with Fire, Rescue & Policing. Should we make the Fire Service, just as it was in the old days? No, because it is an emergency, unplanned service and you are dealing with peoples lives. Knowing full well the gravity of their services, unregulated for-profit healthcare providers can gouge their customers (individuals, or HMO's which later gouge employers who gouge their employees). A victim in need of an angioplasty cannot simply "shop around" for the best deal when they are on the brink of death. They are price takers. And this despite the relatively healthy level of competition. Granted, despite this post, I still do believe that there is room for some Private Insurance firms, as our current system in Canada puts too much a burden on Tax Payers. Alors... ...while I found France to be a bureaucratic mess all too often, their health care system was something we could take a pointer off (unlike the 35hr week, which is an absurd idea and would of been their death had Sarko not prevailed). The state will cover about 80% of costs. The remaining 20 are yours. You can pay out of pocket, or buy private insurance for the remainder. This system discourages Hypochondriacs as well providing a means to unload at least a decent sized chunk of the health care bill.
  3. My apologies Bonam. In retrospect, I guess it did apply to ALL citizens. I was just unclear at the time about your views because of a sentence which caught my eye.
  4. Nonsense. You are safer in a Honda Civic than you are a Chevy Cobalt. Weight is one thing. Intelligent engineering is another. I was also amazed last week when I saw a Toyota Yaris right next to me puncture its tire on the 401, and smash into the median with minimal crumple. Anyhow, here are the Saftey Picks. A few American Cars, but primarily imports. http://www.iihs.org/ratings/ A few years ago, I worked for Toyota Customer Service, taking complaints and such. Granted, it was a call center, but what a relaxing job. And oddly enough, the few complaints we did have were limited quality/fit/finish issues to the southern U.S. built pickups. Good tax incentives but a slight dip in quality. Eventually, they brought in Japanese workers and administered much more Kaizen training. Not to mention the absence of a Union definitely goes far in establishing consistency on assembly line. P.S. For the record, never buy 1st model year vehicles. Only in the 2nd year do they work all the kinks out.
  5. Was this a rhetorical question? Afterall, why would I want to impose restrictions on the physiological features of her children. If she wants to have blond children, who are we to dictate what is right or wrong. My partner and I often discuss what traits we would want in our own children. This is a free country. Celebrate it. On the flipside, it is the extrapolation of these policies on a wider scale which unnerve me, especially keeping in mind my place of birth and my physiology as it brings back shadowy historical events and the fear that this could bring us down a slippery slope.
  6. Scott, your comment about your fear of being treated badly as a minority was a valid one and I was satisfied. But...... Attack whites? You cannot be serious? Because I don't want to group all Caucasians under one banner, or protect all white folk more than any other folk does not mean I am attacking them. However, now it is you who is attributing comments to myself. I have always supported a merit based incentive program, but I guess even that is beyond you. I won't even bother. On that note, I forfeit. By touting equality guess I am but a race traitor brainwashed by the godless-hippie-pinko-liberal-commie-islamofascist-homosexual Hollywood elite. What do I know.
  7. Again. Protect those who deserve it. Actively encouraging Meth Addicts or Alcoholics (in other words, those blatantly not suitable to raise children in adequate conditions) of "ANY RACE" or ethnicity to have children is not the brightest idea. Let the incentives be based on suitability, and let them go out to those worthy, whatever "race" they hail from.
  8. Right here. And the thought of giving the Trailer Park crowd additional incentives to reproduce irks me. N.B - While I do support the expansion of free and/or affordable daycares, programs such as free university tuition would be disastrous for the university system itself, but this is a topic for another day.
  9. Well this makes far more sense than us being like "flowers". And this is definitely a very valid point to consider. Again. Walk down Sherbourne St. or a local trailer park. Are they more deserving of special treatment than a hard working, law abiding Chinese family? ----------------------------------------- August1991, could you elaborate? Or perhaps my ESL really does suck.
  10. I think that's been explained at some legnth by several people. The real question though is why wouldn't you want to protect caucasians? Back to intelligible discourse. Merci bien! Could you point out where? I've heard Jeffriah's explanations (i.e, seeds, flowers, etc) as well as numerous references as to the role race plays in selecting a partner (which is kosher as well, since physical appearance can be a legitimate criteria in selecting a partner. I know you would be more capable of articulating your position, clearly and concisely, thus why I ask you. in Response to: Simple. They are nothing special. As I stated earlier, I may be biased since I am surrounded by "White Trash", but I see nothing "caucasianess" on it's own as nothing special, nothing worth getting your panties in a whirl. Protecting "Johnny Methhead & Co." for the simple fact he and his family are white is futile. I would rather put energy and resources in helping someone who is beneficial to our culture/society, regardless of skin. I want to preserve/protect the respect for law, tolerance, hard work, education, progressive thinking, all elements not restricted to race. Cheers.
  11. I primarily asking one simple question, which you fail to address. And it is a simple one. "Why do you want to protect Caucasians". (i.e. What makes them so special that they should be protected. Why impede the evolutionary process?) But I have a gut feeling the response will be "You are not making sense" or " I will ignore your infantile questions", or something to that effect. Wo, herr Scott? But since you've already taken it to such lows, don't mind if I follow. Bon Voyage. But may I suggest the "Turner Diaries" for the flight. God forbid, the in flight film produced by the Liberal media elite will undoubtedly feature either Jackie Chan or Morgan Freeman as a means of conditioning you to eventually accept, yearn for a hybrid Homosexual/Islamist/Sheikh form of rule over your vulnerable offspring while banishing Christianity to the gallows. Oh, a roll of Tinfoil too! And on that note. I am out.
  12. Yes. Good point. However, I was not referring to his posts, but yours Scott. You want to "protect" them because you "prefer" them. And as with far too many of my posts, you just ignore them, or claim they are not worth addressing. And this all coming from the person who chides us on trying to ignore pertinent debate. And it hurts. Is it because I am an immigrant? Furthermore, we all ought to practice what we preach. Calling my post "broadly dishonest", than introducing the word "superior" in response to my request to find out the underlying reason for your "preference", and even more so, attributing it to me. A Freudian slip? A genuine mix up? Who knows. I shall not impute. But you seem to be presenting a lot of non sequiturs, and I would presume for the sake of political correctness. Ex. Than how about a simpler term to borrow from econ, "crowding out'. Or Birthrates. Or is that still beyond you. Or are you implying that only Caucasians can subscribe to the Caucasian culture, and that getting other "non Caucasians" to adopt Caucasian culture is an impossible feat. If that is the case, than why? Regardless, I do not care to go down to some childish level of argumentation, I would just like an answer. I agree with your wanting to preserve our common culture. I just do not know how skin colour got tangled up in it. Please, oh please, tell us why this race, or any race is worth preserving*.
  13. Well thank you Jeffriah for that P.R announcement on his behalf, but it was unnecessary. Let me explain. Unfortunately comparing humanity to flowers is a bit.....ineffective, for obvious reasons. What I wanted to know is THE REASON for his preference of the "Caucasian race", seeing as it is separate from culture. This question has been established. Furthermore, if from a mathematical standpoint, the preservation of the "Caucasian Race" will only serve to weaken the "Caucasian Culture", by making it more exclusive, and thus less relevant in the bigger scheme of things.
  14. Yes, Ipperwash, just a few days ago. Almost as distrubing as the sight of Johnny "White, Ex - Suburbanite" Meth Head walking down Sherbourne St. If by European you mean the democratic, tolerant, progressive culture we have established for ourselves, yes, I agree. But this is also were you begin lose me. If this "Caucasian" culture we have carved out for ourselves is our gold standard, than one would suppose that non Caucasian persons can subscribe to this culture, many do (i.e friends).....though many also do not (i.e foes). In other words, "Caucasian" implies a race, or general ethnicity, whereas Caucasian culture implies an ideological mindstate, one which is irrespective of race/ethnicity (with the obvious exceptions of the parent/peer to child transmission of information, which as we know, have profound effects on development). Therefore, I can understand being very passionate and edgy about the potential for medium or long term erosion of your culture and way of life (I am too), but this has nothing to do being "Caucasian" or not. We developed the culture, but that does not mean other willing parties (of different ethnicities) cannot accept it, or even ameliorate it. The greatest battles will not be ethnic, but ideological. It would be best if we made as many allies as we could, and not make a shrinking club as exclusive as possible. Et alors? Vos pensées?
  15. What puzzles me is the very notion that there is some valuable underlying characteristic worth preserving in the "Caucasian" race. Sure, perhaps you may be attracted to another Caucasian person for aesthetic reasons (or to any other "race", and fine, so be it, whatever floats your boat, for there is nothing wrong in choice). But to actively worry about the demise of said group? Sure, we have many brilliant thinkers, great athletes, aesthetically pleasing folk which all belong to this category, but we also have many nut jobs, dope heads, thieves, wife abusers in other words, not the type of people whom you would want to glorify. Is there anything intrinsically better about one group over another? Fools are fools, geniuses are geniuses, regardless of shade. While I hate to bring up anecdotal evidence, I feel I must, for it is definitely not for reasons of Political Correctness that I think this is of no genuine concern. I happen to live in a neighborhood populated with many of the latter ("white trash" for lack of a better word), so maybe my views are a little biased. Granted, I was raised in similar economic conditions, but I prefer to think myself as being separate from those of my surroundings, and I am sure most of you would too. A simple walk through my neighborhood and you would also be wondering what exactly all the worrying is about.
  16. Variety in the gene pool makes for a healthy population! Do I care? No. Not really. If they consider themselves Canadian, share our common mores and pass those same values onto their progeny, I could not care less what shade their skin may be.
  17. Imitators are the biggest threat. Just as urban centers have seen the violence of wanna-be street gangs who claim to be "affiliates" of well known and established gangs, we should cast an eye towards those young, frustrated and disturbingly malleable souls showing too endearing a sympathy (homegrown or otherwise) to their subversive idols. Just as with the gangs. Have the kids from Jane and Finch ever met an L.A blood or 18th St....don't hold your breath. Are they so deadly and deranged that they are willing to let this rebellious fantasy take them to the grave? Without a doubt.
  18. Touché. Hamilton or Sudbury would of been ideal venues.
  19. One thing commonly overlooked is how "free" health care (even in regards to walk in clinics and family physicians) promotes efficiency in the long run since it is often a form of preventative medicine, which recognizes (and treats...hopefully) the inexpensive medical molehills before they turn into pricey medical mountains. But on the flip side, one major recommendation I would promote is at least a token "user fee", nothing serious, but perhaps $10 or $20 contribution. Such a price would be low enough to encourage people to visit a clinic early on, while hopefully dissuading the hordes of hypochondriacs who visit a clinic for nothing more than a simple cold, only to hear "drink plenty of fluids and get rest" but while taking up precious resources and shifting more pertinent problems to the back burner.
  20. I know it is a guess, and I presume an "educated" one. I for one am curious as to what this "guess" was based on (that is, unless you simply made them up).?
  21. Good topic. I agree. The media does not dictate or constitute what we are attracted to per se, rather it just exploits the underlying natural tendancies in our taste (granted, they can be pushed to the extreme). But to claim that we are being force fed a primordial perception against our own will is ultimately devaluing our being. In other words, they promote it, but do not invent it.
  22. Sadly I doubt it, but I am not hiding my relative (and naive in this particular instance) optimism. Granted, it could bring forth two fundamental shifts; 1. The election a Guardian Council free leadership. 2. Increasing petrol (refinery) production, both for domestic and export purposes. I just wish both sides realize they need each other. Iran needs the US if it wants peace, security and prosperity, and the US must also make many concessions if it hopes to not make the issue of Iraq an even bigger blot on their record. Like little children...I swear.
  23. Thus far, this has been a good choice. And while it is most often brilliant (for the price), I'm just a little more hesitant due to what seemed as inconsistencies amongst different "cuvées" which makes me a tad more hesitant. Indeed. T'was my photo. As per the occasion....nothing.....just a regular Saturday night meal a la bonne gascon in a small town of about 40 people. Our friend, who treated us, happened to be passionate about good wine, and could not refuse when he found out the staff had discovered a little cache of older wines in the cave. But you could And I was not about to protest. Living in Aquitania had its advantages.
  24. You could try looking, it's not that hard. This is a prime example (from last summer): Memorable...to say the least Granted. It's not every day we can drink such wines. In all honesty, when it comes to the top wines, the French are still dominant. But on the lower specters of the market (i.e. what I can afford...being a student and all), they have been put to shame by many others, notably from the new world. Australia, but even the U.S. And the same goes for the Italians. I just can't wait until the Italians and French finally market (in North America at least) something comparable and *CONSISTENT* as Yellow Tail and at a similar price.
  25. With all due respect, why are you so obsessed with this one topic? Your raison d'etre perhaps?
