  1. If you believe that you are no longer going to be audited, or that someone is no longer going to be audited, you are seriously mistaken.
  2. The only problem being was that Iggy supported the war on terror......
  3. I snipped alot of your comments, but the whole analysis is pretty good and has something plausible behind it. Lead the way Comrade.....LOL Seriously, what you describe, we do not have in North America. I don't know if it is possible or how long it would take for a political party to present these views.
  4. The LPC made a strategic move to put the NDP in the passengers seat. There were two possibilities. 1) Immediate Election. 2) Support a bill that offers some aid to people. Its not valiant, but it is pragmatic.
  5. The LPC made a huge mistake in trying to force feed on poll on the NDP at 12% when the NDP were at a high watermark of 19% just days before in another poll. Essentially the NDP remain in their margin of error. The CPC are growing, and Ignatieff is statiscally in Dion terrority prior to the 08 election. No is the time for Harper to issue the poison pill if he wants to grab that elusive majority.
  6. Following the conversation..... it is clear that with all the divergent tangents going on, there is little discussion on the poll in the thread title. If there was some plausibility of the CPC making inroads in TO, there would be alot more hysteria from the LPC and alot more Boasting from the CPC. This story already faded away
  7. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-b...article1299930/ Small businesses fear HST backlash ‘Additional taxes on some goods and most services is another reason to stop them from opening their wallets' ....... But only 6 per cent said their prices will be more competitive as a result of those increased tax credits
  8. An article making the rounds..... http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/opinio...article1299104/ According to this analysis, if you look past the hyperbole of bashing the NDP, the NDP have remained much the same as in the past. The conscious of Canadians. Its been a bit louder and roudier, but maybe not. I don't think there has ever been alot of love for the NDP, yet, there always appears to be NDP MPs and positions that Canadians are comfortable with, if not ready to embrace themselves in the immediate or with a majority position. Which is truly what our concious is. We may do things that are wrong, but there is a message in the back of our head saying, you shouldn't do that or you should do that... even if you don't. I am not certain why people run in that party and take such abuse from media and punters and the public. It can't be for power and glory. And like the media enjoys a good feast, like sharks when they smell blood, every now and then, an article like this appears. Tommorrow, the media sharks will be out looking for blood, from any politician or party and its business as usual. But this day, this media punter relieved his conscious.
  9. Like what? The HST? Harpers position on Iraq? The Harper Conservatives position on Torture? The Harper Conservative position on Afghanistan? The Harper Conservative Position on Free Trade Agreements? The problem is, that whatever the Harper government position, it is also the position of the Ignatieff Liberals. And regardless of how the Ignatieff Liberals campaign.... it is fully expected the LPC will not do anything differently. Mind you none of the policy differences or similarities would change a thing in TO. TO is the Maginot line of the LPC.
  10. She was also, open and honest and factual. I remember her saying some things that made me mad as hell. They were also proven to be true and her vision correct.
  11. Will we hear from Landon again??? I hope so... I like a person who tells it like it is.....
  12. Yesmeanwhile IIRC Linemar is in your turf.... and there was an announcement there in a Liberal Riding for some millions of dollars. Keep an eye on those corporate welfare bums. They are sharp and shrewd and happy to take whatever they can get from the government. I am waiting for the LPC MP to cross the floor.....
  13. I believe this is really old, old news, and IIRC it was Charlie Angus who pointed out favouritism in CPC ridings, both before and after the stimulus funding. Sure, and you could be right. Just tell it to those unemployed that qualify for more benefits because the NDP didn't bring down the government. Not to mention it would make me get mad again for the 2nd time in two years at politicians governing on the basis of opportunism and election rigging rather then good government. There is an NDP bill which fullfills the Liberal position on EI. It has passed 2nd reading. The LPC were hoping to avoid this bill, because they had been supporting it through the house. It could have passed without causing an election in June, although some LPC punters continually say different. When this bill comes up, now that parliment is continuing, the LPC can support it... and if they do and it causes the government to fall, the LPC will have their wish, or if the LPC support it and the government doesn't fall, then EI will become reformed and all the negative changes that the Liberals implemented years ago will be rectified. I have argued in other forums and here with jdobbin, that both the LPC and NDP had very bad positions. Total support and total opposition. It was a free ride for both parties and while it made the LPC weak, It made the NDP inconsequential and irrellavent. Both parties can gain from this change, and the Liberals needed to get out of the DION trap. Remember, that without both the NDP/LPC forcing the CPC to address and economic crises, the CPC wouldn't be able to parade around in their ridings and run up the tab.
  14. Not only is that stupid, it is NOT true.
  15. Its not been a secret that the Harper Government has taken the stimulus spending and pumped it into CPC ridings and in particular, look at ones they recently won and watch the photo opps. However, there are a few ridings outside of the CPC hold that they are targeting and also spending money in those kinds of ridings that may swing. The CPC has a way of making announcements in ridings they wish to take and find ways to make certain the sitting MP in the riding is nowhere to be seen. What is really, really stupid about this is that this Conservative actually spoke the truth and he is going to be reprimanded by the party.
  16. Well I am. I am surprised enough to say that this is the Poll that gets tossed out. The Conservatives finish 4th and 3rd and distant 2nds in TO and not enough has changed to suggest that they would be anywhere close to getting those numbers. If this was 905, then its plausible if not factual for the time being. This poll is not reflective of the situation in Liberal TO. I thought the Liberal Goal was to lead the country.
  17. Just keeping tweedle dee and tweedle dums tax policy platform thread close....
  18. With fewer people making 40,000 to 70,000 outside of the public sector... government revenues are falling like a rock. That is why they are increasing taxes and increasing the catchment area. Harper reduced revenues and it cost him the last of surplus. Martin reduced revenues with massive tax cuts, and offset it by stealing from the EI fund. Seems there was plenty of money to go around, it was just a matter of who the government wanted to give money back to, and who they want to take it away from. It is clear. The poor will pay more. The lower middle class will pay more The middle class will pay more and the wealthy will pay less. Government revenues will increase overall.
  19. I recall having the strongest damn industrial base on the planet. I recall not having to pay GST on top of everything else I buy. I recall being told that savings would be passed onto the consumer. I am still waiting. School supplies including books are taxed and will be taxed MORE. Other items that were not taxed will be taxed. What is clear is that the Conservatives support the HST and the Liberals support the HST. Shall we stick with the dick? Better the devil you know....
  20. Wow that is quite the basket of goods you have.... The GST is regressive. Its a fact.
  21. It would be less burdensome if it didn't exist. Regressive taxes are not fair. Keep trying. Harper and Flaherty are playing the orchestra to get the HST implemented. Greasing Liberal palms is the order of the day. And Liberals just love the HST because their goal like the Conservatives is to continue to remove the burden from those who can afford it to those who can least afford it, and it will generate more revenue in both the Provincial and Federal Coffers. I lived in a Canada without the GST. Are the Liberals going to repay the $46 Billion they took from EI? I paid into that too.
  22. We had income tax without the GST. I preferred that, and the GST picked my pocket disproportionately to others who pay. Are you eliminating income taxes? There is no "Problem" with my thinking. Go without heat, hydro and gas for the winter. These are Essentials and quite frankly kick the shit out of poor people. Go without Clothes and shoes and socks and School books. Get rid of your phone, your internet. Those aren't essential either. Don't need a car, its not essential, nor is the cab or bus you won't need to ride in because it isn't essential either. Don't worry about a regular haircut... its not essential. The hippie era will comeback. Peter Pocklington is having his wet dream to come true.
  23. I prefer that people stop bullshitting that the HST/GST/PST are progressive.Income Taxes can be Regressive, Progressive or Flat. Income Taxes in Canada are progressive and the HST is NOT.
  24. Here and here And here http://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/regressivetax.asp and this http://www.answers.com/topic/regressive-tax http://www.irs.gov/app/understandingTaxes/...thm03_les02.jsp http://www.psnw.com/~bashford/taxation.html
  25. Finally finding a way out.... http://www.thestar.com/news/ontario/article/699006 We won't tear up HST deal, Liberal leader vows
