  1. Hold that thought for the next time we butt heads
  2. I think anyone looking at the Polling numbers for parties would agree with you. Liberal and Conservatives are pretty close, and the Liberal vote appears to be going to the Greens not the Conservatives. The enviroment mud being thrown in these adds, have driven voters away. However, to underestimate the Liberal Brand at election time is never a wise thing. Those Green votes some 8 points worth that appear to have come straight from the Liberals (what the pollster was saying on tv, not me) are not heavily weighted and the pollster believes that come election, these votes will return to the Liberals. Therefore, according to this pollster, things are not only very close, they aren't all that secure for the Conservatives should they call an election.
  3. You mean the Liberals?
  4. Let no one claim that I fix a question or create a bias in my polls again. I am going to vote in this one, just for the fun of it.
  5. I like the CBC. I got a Canadian Satellite Dish so I could watch it. A 20% drop is pretty good. What is interesting is that Dions is also high. Perhaps these numbers come from the West and Quebec. Even this number is terrible for Dion, The Liberals are in the early stages of a free fall. Dion is known to be an underdog and to be underestimated. We will have to wait and see.
  6. Stephen Harper is prone to being too clever by one. He's been down this road before.
  7. I totally disagree. Then what are your thoughts on the O'Conner Hillier feud that has been going on this last little while?
  8. I am looking at this poll on Mike Duffy live, as i type this. Harper has good numbers as "Prime Minister" (that's good since he is one) Layton being in 2nd isn't good for Dion. Now, I recall Ed Broadbent holding numbers indicated he would make the best Prime Minister, so Layton being chosen 2nd is not ground breaking. Layton being chosen best on the Enviroment isn't surprising, but Harper having better numbers than Dion, indicates that you can change your leader but not your record. And Stephen Harper holds high numbers including having a "hidden" agenda, over Dion who is a close second, and then Layton a distant third. Not that having a "hidden" agenda is all that great to be suspected of. Regardless, these numbers are absolutely terrible for Dion, who was riding a wave of popularity a few months back.
  9. The Only Legacy of the Chretian era is Sponsorship. Deficit reduction, tax cuts were the main focus. Paying down the debt was also done. Years of huge deficits were replaced by budget surplus. Shouldn't be too hard to find how much was went to pay down the debt. There is little reason to believe that the current government can put as much towards the debt, without risking going into deficit. Revenues could be down and expenditures could be increasing. Have to wait and see what this "Fiscal Imbalance" stuff costs.
  10. Gordon O’Connor, asked the Liberal government the following . What's that last question again?
  11. Yes you are correct and that was my error. I was going to put "effective" but then I didn't want to ask a similar question to my last poll. I already had the title up, and that was that. The question is strongest, and your analyses is accurate. I do not discount the fact that, if I used the term "effective" the poll could be somewhat different in its results. But nothing was done on purpose or intentionally to sway the voting.
  12. It is difficult to understand committing long term to a government that is of a type that most here could never understand. Fundamentalist with religious police and Women covered head to toe in the burka, No music, dancing women, but its ok to have child brides. They can have their government and even fight for it. I see no reason for our military to run around with limited resources trying to be everything to everybody in Afghanistan. We appear to be the proxies for the Afghan government, yet when the war first started the Afghans were the proxies of the American Invasion. That said, the British are going to pull out of Iraq. Maybe they will divert some troops to Afghanistan.
  13. I don't control the results of the poll and if you wish to hypothisis (sp) that the reason for the results is directly related to the Strategic Council polls, then that is up to you. Not voting here only distorts the current results if you are a supporter of someone other than Harper. That might be a problem with the poll but I can't control that either. Never could make people vote, even if it is effortless web voting. You don't have to like the results. But where are all the die hard "liberals" that would plug a Dion vote no matter what the circumstance. I believe that you could say that Harper is a strong leader, and wouldn't vote for him. Some of his strength is to push forward ideas that many people might not agree with including some in his own party. Doesn't mean he is right, Doesn't mean alot. Putin has shown himself to be a strong leader. George Bush first appeared like a lathargic leader, then a strong leader, and now a very weak leader. This is a poll in a moment of time. The propoganda around this is the attack adds. The results are as above and the poll is still new.
  14. I followed this link. A little bit of data, some discussion. I didn't see the information, following the links within the web, that said it was cooler today then in the past. I was going through pretty quick, but I didn't see it. Can you point out the chart or dialogue showing that we are cooler today then in the past? I saw some stuff with regards to the "mini" ice age in the 1700s.
  15. I am the one rolling my eyes. The question was clear, concise, and allows people to declare which Candidate they believe to be stronger. I did not ask the "effective opposition" question when the Liberals had no leader. I did ask this question after the negative add campaigns. I can't control those adds, I am asking a poll out of curiousity. This is NOT a PUSH Poll.
  16. And he's even doing better on this poll! The fact that Dion and Laytons numbers are that close is bad news for the Liberals. Those attack adds have been very effective. Peoples minds have been formed.
  17. One Poll down and another up and running.
  18. You got it. Thanks Canuck E Stan. "is that your final answer" I don't know if these polls can be closed off, but I figure it ran long enough. The Bloc Quebecois have been voted the most effective opposition.
  19. I recall, the most difficult shot that photo journalists tried to get during the Afghan USSR war wasn't shots of CCCP soldiers but of an Afghan womans face. Some Women wear makeup under those burkas. They could well be hung because of the religious police that the Karzai government has installed. We are not going to change that society anytime soon.
  20. I am reporting you
  21. What are you suggesting. The Liberals where not supposed to get the books balanced? That was a higher priority then. It was the priority of the Reform Party. The Priority of the Progressive Conservatives were to continue to spend money like it grew on trees. While the 10 years of darkness is colourfull, that accompanied 10 years of balanced budgets and many years of surplus that the Government returned to the corporations in terms of tax cuts or went to pay down the debt. The military hasn't been the only neglected area, and alot of the pressure on the government of the day, came from the "right".
  22. 1994 is when all government agencies, transfers, health care payments, military etc suffered large cutbacks that continued to present day.
  23. Great, another thread with nothing new to offer that couldn't have been added any of the other 9 threads going.
  24. I need someone to vote to break the tie. Call it a wrap.
  25. The equipment may be coming but few understand the financial crunch faced by many CF personel.
