Will Canada back our war-loving rednecks to the south or the red so-called communists to the east? Or should we stay neutral? We have already seen what backing the USA means- loss of culture, economic sellout, etc. But should we back China? I think we're closer politically to China than we are to the U.S.- who it's help China mess around with the USA.

As a saying goes, "you don't kill someone who is committing suicide'. Harper clearly is trying to commit suicide with his unpopular views of the world and recent afghanistan toture/Kyoto delimma. He knews that if he could continue peace operations in Afghanistan started under the past liberal government that that would not be an issue for him. He knew that if he accepted Kyoto and promoted it that it would not be an issue. If he would have fulfilled these two things, Harper would be looking at a majority. Instead, we have an inept Prime Minister with irresponsible views that is corrupted and out of touch. He doesn't seem to have much left in him, blaming the past liberal government for everything. Dion will just let this guy kill himself without doing anything and take its place. I now see that Dion will now have a chance of becoming Prime Minister, and I accept the facts.

As we might know, the Japanese economy is booming quicker than Alberta on steroids. It is quick the contrast in the United States, where the economy has recently hit a recession. With every purchase of an eletronic or Japanese car, we send money to Japan every year. Now, if this trends continues for a decade, we could see Japan overtake the US and become the country with the highest GDP in the world. Now, the question remains: Do you think this would happen? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_count...P_%28nominal%29

Past 5 Prime Minister's stance on gay marriage?

I heard Campbell and Mulroney support it. Though Harper I'm sure is against it. -
Past 5 Prime Minister's stance on gay marriage?

Stephen Harper Paul Martin Jean Chretien Kim Campbell Brian Mulroney What were these Prime Minister's stances on same-sex marriage? -
With Jack Layton launching an ad showing how he cares about Canada and Harper's budget breaking Canada apart, which is more possible today?

ario election? As you might know, in the 1990 election Ontario got tired with both the Conservatives and the Liberals, so they elected Mr. Bob Rae as Premier. I see a similar trend today in federal politics, with Stephen Harper and Stephane Dion BOTH failing to get ahead. Maybe Jack Layton could get Canadians to move towards the NDP from the two large parties. Do you think it's possible?

Harper's finished. Get out the boot. Looks like it'll be another 13 years of Liberal dominance.

Will Stephen Harper serve longer than Paul Martin?
1967100 replied to 1967100's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm surprised that you people say that Dion is no threat. Look at the latest poll. Harper's a goner. And I'm talking about length as PM, not as an MP. -
Both had a similar term length in government (Mulroney had 9 years whereas Chretien had 10) and both were without a doubt archrivals going against each other. One did a lot for Canada (which might no always be good) while the other watched 10 years go by with little being done while wasting tax money on Quebec. Now the question comes down to which will go down as the better Prime Minister of Canada? Mulroney or Chretien?

Who will win in 2007?

Should the Green Party win seats in a future election (very possible) could it hold back the three major parties (Libs, Cons, NDP) enough to make the Bloc form a Minority Government should they win over 70 seats or sweep in Quebec? If so, I wonder what would happen? I.E. Bloc Quebecois- 75 Liberals- 68 Conservatives- 67 NDP- 57 Green- 41

Is it true that if you become Prime Minister and activate the Notwithstanding clause, you can virtually act like Hitler in the 1940's (commit genocide, persecute citizens, stay in power for whenever you want etc.) without becing prosecuted in the International Court?

What a shame it was for that phony to become Prime Minister in June 1993. Clearly, she took the reigns of the PC and tore it to shreads. When she inherited the party, the PC had 40% (compared to the Liberals, who had 20%)of Canadian support in the polls, which would've meant another majority for the PC. Yet as she took over for Mulroney, their support dropped rapidly. Going from a strong 36% in September to a weak 16% at election time, all because of the attack ads that SHE MADE. Too bad Mulroney retired. He certainly had the support to win another majority and remain as Prime Minister until 1998, which would've been great because the sponsership scandal wouldn't have occured. Now we have a far right Conservative party instead of a moderate one like the PC. Kim Campbell= the dog of the Conservatives.

and challenged Harper to an election, who would you vote for and what type of government would you give the House of Commons? Remember, Harper gave us a scandal free government that is capable of leading, and will might be the most honest politician we've had in a while.
