How so? In that he hands out money like a drunken Liberal. Many of his policies are economically stupid. But he is a politician first and an economist second. As a politician, his number 1 objective is to get votes and he uses his skills from economics to maximize his votes. Bad economic policy translates into good politics and many votes.

Let's not get carried off with the impartiality of Democracy Watch. Democracy Watch is a reputable organization has made pointing out and educating the public about undemocratic practices of government its goal. Harper was more than pleased and bragged about their support for his promises on accountability. When he failed to implement most of their promises and they pointed out his lies, he no longer brags about their views. The point here is that Harper broke his promises on accountability. The FAA implements less than a third of what he promised, yet he claims that it will provide clean government. There is nothing further from the truth. The FAA is weak legislation, which will not make ministers responsible for screwing up, will continue to allow lobbyists to control public policy and will allow the New Conservative Government to hand out contracts and steal from the public, just like the old Liberal government did. Excuses, like the Liberal senate this and that, don't cut it because Harper removed half of his promises from the Act even before he tabled it. If that's the price to stop Radical Islam, The let's do it. Nothing wrong with Public Education, they can learn religion on their own time, their own tab. I'm all for it. Schools are institutions of education, churches, mosques and synagogues are institutions of religion. Save education for the schools and religion for the rest. The education system should not raise religious fanatics/radicals of any kind.

Apparently, Christian and Jewish schools teach racism and intolerance as evidenced by the anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim views on this board. These are not Canadian values. They sure aren't my values. There is no way in hell that Dion can win more than 2 seats short of coming up with a special new tax on ROC and distributing the proceeds by writing every Albertan $10K cheque every year. So no, he is wasting his time in Alberta and he should concentrate his efforts elsewhere. What may work in his favour though would be Albertans setting up some new reform-style party after the CPC gets on their nerves (which they will) in which case the Liberals can benefit from some vote splitting. But that's not in the cards for the next election.

Secondly, that's not how a GHG emissions market works, so bull again. Nova Scotians have the right to do whatever the hell they please and you can suffer from a shortage in the dark cause that's what you deserve. Without ROC, you'd get far less money unless you figured out a way to make oil dig itself up. I don't know whether you people are literate but you surely didn't read the article in its entirety. The problem is not the levy, the CBC or the PQ. The problem is that the oil companies decided to apply the levy before it came into effect and pocket the money. As far as I can tell, the oil companies are to blame here but I think as usual it would be next to impossible to prove that there was any collusion.

No, there are no Muslim men with 5 wives, because having 5 wives is illegal under Islamic law. The maximum number of wives a Muslim man can have is 4. With Muslim men in Canada, instead of "These are my 3 wives" it's usually "This is my wife and this is her sister and this is their cousin".

I don't know what Dion is doing in Alberta and Saskatchewan besides showing up there now because he won't have time for them during an election campaign. Even then it's a complete waste of his time because Albertans couldn't care less about the Liberals and Saskatchewan voters care far more about gay marriage than anything else - so he won't get their votes either.
