CPC Jeopardized Canadian Security At Home
Saturn replied to Catchme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There is a huge surprise. The military is spending billions on equipment to be purchased from friends at possibly excessive cost but they can't find $3.5 million for a single ship to patrol our coast. Nice work. Of course after this becomes public, O'Connor immediately finds the $3.5 million because this looks really bad and he doesn't want to look bad before an election. I guess it's up to the journalists to keep us safe, because our own government doesn't care about our safety unless their gross incompetence becomes public knowledge. -

And some believe that the earth is the center of the universe and that it's 6,000 years old. Others believe that humans are just an experiment carried out by a superior alien race. What some believe doesn't matter, unless it reflects reality. There is a commonly accepted definition of a person and of being alive (it's kind of convenient to bury people only when they are not alive) and a fetus doesn't satisfy that definition. -

There are people who object to medication and medicine altogether. To claim that we shouldn't fund medical services because it would be unfair and insulting to them is bull. If you are insulted by the rights of others, you are a dumbass and that's your problem. Right now, there are 70,000 kids up for adoption in Canada and they are not being adopted. Add 100,000 to that list every year and well end up with close to a million parentless children within a decade. Romania ring a bell? You don't think that I am basing my claims on anything because you are clearly clueless and uninformed. This info is widely available and you ought to inform yourself before forming an opinion (which is obviously not based on facts) and getting into a discussion with someone where you end up claiming nonsense. -
Do you agree with Kyoto - or not?
Saturn replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You people are totally full of it! It's unbelievable that you can make up so much crap, repeat it like a broken record and expect someone else to believe it. Let's keep it simple, so that you can process the facts: 1. Canada is the third worst GHG polluter in the world! (behind Saudi Arabia and the US) 2. Both the Russians and the Chinese (and the Indians and everyone else you are complaing about) pollute less than we do. 3. Russia will have trouble meeting its Kyoto targets (which are lower than ours btw), so our money will not be going to Russia. 4. Our money will not be going to India or China either, because they are not part of the Kyoto protocol (they will most likely join us in 2012). 5. Since Canada is the third worst polluter in the world and has the highest target under Kyoto, you ought to shut up and stop whining about other countries getting better deals because in reality we got the best deal. -

Canadians are the 3rd worst polluters in the world. The Chinese are far behind producing only one-seventh as much pollution. WTF are you talking about when you say that were are on the forefront of restricting pollution? We are on the foreftront of polluting, not of restricting pollution. -

Saturn replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If you pollute, you must pay. Pollution should not be free. Given that Canadian polluters will not be faced with penalties internally, then paying our hard earned tax dollars to others ought to give us a push to put pressure on our polluters to pollute less and to pollute less as individuals. Obviously, it's not the best way to do it but if it's not this way, we'll never do it. So, yes, Kyoto is the best we have. -

Hello! Who buys the Chinese and Indian crap produced with coal electricity? We do! If you don't want China and India building coal plants, don't buy their junk! -

The Russian economy went into a tail spin after 1990. This had the side effect of dramatically reducing emissions because economic activity simply stopped. Russian economic activity has since recovered and GHGs have since risen dramatically, however, the arbitrary choice of 1990 as the Kyoto target date means Russia can meet its Kyoto targets without doing any work or making any sacrifices. If 1995 was choosen as a target date then Russia would not be able to meet the Kyoto targets and would likely have never signed onto the protocol in the first place. The arbitrary choice of 1990 as the target date give Russia an unfair advantage compared to all other countries and that is one of the biggest reasons why meeting Kyoto targets by purchasing credits from Russia or other east block countries is a waste of money. That said, I would not be opposed to spending money helping people in other countries deal with the consequences of climate change - I just object to buying emission credits to meet arbitrary targets. That makes sense. The soviet economy went into a tailspin so the baseline date is bad - it gives Russia an unfair advantage. So we ought to wait for Canada's economy to drop 30% and then set the date. That's just plain ridiculous. Maybe we ought to wait for every other country to experience economic meltdown and set the date over and over again. Reality Check: Russia's target is just below our own. So Canada got the unfair advantage here. Reality Check: Canada has the highest target of all countries in the Kyoto accord. Canada got an unfair advantage. Stop whining! Arbitrary arguments picking on this country or that one don't cut it. -

To say that abortions are too costly is the stupidest argument I've heard so far. Do you have any idea what it costs to go through a pregnancy, give birth and raise a child? Roughly half a million! Now most these children will be born to teen moms, single moms and women who are not ready to emotionally and financially to support a child. Many of those teen moms will end up dropping out of school and will end up on welfare and in the lowest income levels. Kids raised in poor households and especially unwanted children are very likely to end up involved in crime and in jail. And of course conservatives will be the first to scream about welfare payments and crime. So you want to cut your cost of an abortion from $300 to $500K + increasing the number of miserable unwanted children + increased crime rates. You are a dumbass! -
He more or less was. But MPs don't normally get kicked out of caucus for cheating. Cheating is far too common in politics - it looks bad but you'd have MPs getting kicked out of caucus every other week. But making big noise and welcoming known cheaters to your party, well, that's not so common.

Oh, most Canadians know how to spend money, far more money than they can earn, which is coincidentally why the financial affairs of most Canadians are a disaster (and getting worse).

I advocate that you keep your mouth shut and you respect other people's rights. Apply your view on abortion in your own life but keep it out of others' lives. And missy is most cases is too young to know what the risks are and what she is doing anyway. Parenting is not a business for 15-year-olds. -
I disagree. Wait for the March 20 budget with all the goodies. There will be so much cash handed out that many voters will vote conservative in expectation of their beer and popcorn cheques.

Saturn replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Total bullshit. You obviously have no clue. Russia has more oil and natural gas and carbon in every other form than we do. They don't like Kyoto either and they won't be filling their pockets with anything because they will have hard time meeting their Kyoto targets too. Their oil and gas industry is strong and influential and they are fighting Kyoto just like ours is. Of course there are Russian scientists who claim that global warming is not happening. The Russian oil and gas industry have plenty of money to fund "research". -

Soviet emissions in 1990 (which were "estimated to be very high") were still lower than Canada's. Now cut the crap. Canada doesn't look good any way you slice it. -

Someone is alive when brain impulses exist. When they stop, a person is considered clinically dead. The first brain impulses appear at the beginning of the 5th month of gestation. -
Harper claims that he had no idea about Khan's woes even though Elections Canada deregistered Khan's association before Khan joined the Conservatives. Effectively, Harper claims ignorance as his defense. http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...19a8ccc&k=37552

Do you suggest we lock kids up so that there is no chance anyone will get pregnant? Complete bullshit. There is absolutely no evidence that there is any life in an embryo prior to the 5th month of gestation and abortions beyond the 3rd month are performed only when the mother's life is in danger. Life prior to the 5th month is a figment of religious fanatics' imagination. But according to them, the earth is also flat and 6000 years old. Do you commit genocide when you jerk off? -

Significant number? to what? I bet a far more significant number of woman die in car crashes. Even one is way too many. Are you fucking telling me that you are going to force women to have unwanted children because too few die in childbirth. That's about as bad as a rape! -

If ethiopian women had abortions more often instead of having 10 children on average, believe me, a lot fewer of these children would be starving to death and dying of diseases that can be treated for $10. And who the hell do you imagine you are to tell people whether to have children or not? Just shut up and mind your own business! -

If you broke your leg, it's probably because you did something stupid. But you'll still get treated. Women have the right to decide whether to have children or not and children have the right to loving parents who want them. You have the right to shut up and respect the rights of others!
