  1. Especially considering the vast majority of things they continue to fight for are not in the treaties but were given to them through interpretation by such courts.
  2. That's because you're missing a few parameters of the equation This is one part. Oops....here's where you missed a part. You equate CBC's bias to lead directly to crack down on natives. The part you're missing is where I said that if natives continue to block development in a substantial way, then people are going to be woken from the sleep. So far we see Aboriginals as just something that happens....elsewhere. When it happens to us then people are going to be pissed....as shown in the reaction to Idle No More. They say Indians will only make it on TV if they are doing the 4 Ds....drunk, drumming, dancing or dead. The common average working Canadian will only really care if they get in the way of the other D...Development. Yup...that's how democracy works. People vote in governments that will pass laws and possibly rewrite constitutions that apply to what the people want. They don't need to abandon the whole thing, just rewrite parts that aren't working. It certainly wouldn't be a quick process and I would envision something like this would require a referendum to gain direct feedback....but it is certainly something that is possible. Again...immigrants are just one part of the equation. The main part is 30 million other Canadians who if aggravated will look for ways to remedy the situation. I bring up the point of immigrants because the argument that native supporters always bring up is how the native population is the fastest growing yet immigration alone in the last 7 years has equaled the entire native population. The thought that their vote will significantly affect direction is not a credible argument. Like I said, this is only one part of the equation. It will really hit the fan when further disruption and development blockades start to impact more working Canadians.
  3. As an exporting nation, the most important thing to look at is the foreign exchange during those periods. The Liberals enjoyed many years of 1.4 to 1.6 exchange rates which make the Canadian exports more lucrative and more profitable when sold in USD. Its no surprise that the surpluses went away when the dollar dropped below 1.0. Also of note is that the US had 4 years of surplus in that same time frame and they've only had like 8 surplus years in the last 75 years. Clearly our surplus success depends on how well our largest trading partner is doing. The fact that anyone would tie all these external sources into a partisan perspective and then to tie it again to native funding is ridiculous.
  4. Because the laws and constitution of this country are guided by the people. At any point the people can decide new laws and new constitutions. So if enough people get pissed with the current regime then changes will happen
  5. Do you disagree with the notion that immigrants won't care about past treaties and would be more willing to look to modern ways to deal with the issue? Net migration into Canada is 200,000 per year. That means in the last 7 years, we have brought in as many immigrants as we have aboriginals.
  6. I did say that and I do believe it to be true. However natives don't feel that way. They think they need to disrupt the whole world in order to get their way. Maybe they do in a sense to make the government react but they will go too far and start pissing off the general public which I think started to happen with the Idle No More rallies. They keep blocking development and people are really going to turn.
  7. You asked for a citation to show that the CBC was in cahoots with the First Nations. Have you forgotten what you were asking for already....here...I'll show you. Please provide a link. I have provided links when required. Please don't make me hunt. BC made a comment about the CBC funding as it is topically relevant as per the TRC recommendation.
  8. Alright.... http://aptn.ca/news/2015/06/02/read-94-recommendations/
  9. Check the TRC report showing their request for CBC funding. What does CBC funding have to do with them other that providing a biased viewpoint
  10. Yes I can. Its not a major focal point but it is interesting that the CBC and the FN seem to be in cahoots
  11. Of course that one was one example just in this thread. Again....I have often found jacee quoting things that she claims are fact just because she read them in the comments section. My favorite was the 10 billion in legal fees that she claimed the government was spending when in fact that 10 billion included the potential liability for land claims. Not even close to 10 billion in legal fees....but don't tell her that because if its on the internet....its true.
  12. LMFAO! Maybe you should actually browse through this thread so you'll have the first clue as to what you're talking about. Here's one easy point where jacee was ranting that the Residential schools were mandatory when the reality is that schooling was mandatory and only 30% of native kids actually went to residential schools.
  13. They (TRC) did just specifically ask that the government restore and increase CBC funding in their report. I wonder why?
  14. What research? She copies and pastes things from whatever source spews the thing she wants to be true without actually researching if it is true. In this thread alone she has posted a few articles that actually go against her point. Of course the most memorable is how she has gone on rants about 2 Trillion in trust and 10 billion in legal costs that she quotes from BS sources and I have shown them to be pure fabrications.
  15. I guess you didn't see the people running through the road blocks Or the social media frenzy? Or the general pissed off attitude people had with natives over their antics? Of course you didn't jacee....you have your head in the sand. What ever happened to Idle No More. Why are they so Idle again. I guess that was just a phase?
  16. Quite easily. Its ok if you can't.....
  17. The OP is reported by CBC which has been accused of reporting with a bias towards FN. Getting rid of the CBC would get rid of this bias.
  18. You're having troubles too. Go figure. Comprehension has never been your strong suit either.
  19. Story of your time on here jacee. You can't follow the conversation.
  20. A lot? I know you see a crowd at the rent a mob meetings and think its a lot. My view of a lot is the group of people that don't even know or care what fracking is because they have a job and other concerns outside of what the natives think. What really is 'a lot' is the number of people who have jobs and don't really know or care about fracking. The more they hear about the native unrest, the more they start to question the native funding. Idle No More was an indication of this. The people running Idle No More thought they could generate a lot of attention with their antics however they didn't anticipate the backlash they received. Now they are back to Idling Some More. The best thing the natives could do is keep their negotiations off the radar and let the sleeping giant (aka the majority of the Canadian public) sleep.
  21. Is this a random comment/observation or do you have a stat to back this up. Not sure. You'd have to read the study Not sure I understand your question. You are saying that that non-religious people would be less likely to move from dabbling to abuse? The pictures they use are not any indication for that specific claim. In other words the less likely to move from dabbling to abuse is not a function of being Jewish but of being a part of any religion. As such when they say 50/60/70% more or less likely to do something...that is compare to non-religious people. Essentially it was a study indicating that people who believe in some sort of religion will benefit from certain life challenging aspects. PS...in the future I would suggest that you use the quote feature instead of just calling out the persons name. Quoting something that we say helps us to know exactly what image or text you are referring to. More importantly, it will actually notify the person that you have responded. I just happened to see your post come up on the main page when it could have easily not been seen at all.
  22. Nope. Like I said earlier....I just need the SCC to give Metis equal rights as status Indians and I'll be gold.
  23. As will the rest of Canada's population which is 30 times theirs. And again...more immigrants continue to arrive in Canada not looking to pay for some British treaty. The question isn't a matter of the gap its a matter of how happy people are. I couldn't care less if Bill Gates has a billion or trillion dollars as long as I have sufficient income, health and the abort to live a good life. Currently the vast majority of Canadians have this. What's more likely is that people start to see the impact of native issues and start to question it. Especially if they really get in the way of some major development
  24. Have you already forgotten what we were talking about? I said that Canadians will never budge the way that FN want them to. As such FN have to change how they go about this and look at a different way to get what they want while being inclusive to the Canadian society, That could include a significant pay out...or some sort of financial benefit. The us versus them concept will never work which is why I'm talking about this.
