  1. Since 1945. Not a moral judgement, just a fact. That's hilarious... The US does a lot for the world. We have a history of doing a lot. Most of Europe would be speaking German if it were not for us. Most of China would be occupied by Japan. The what ifs are endless...but the US did it's part and worked the hardest. Hugo, whom if I am correct, is from Great Britian, and his country a trusted ally of the US. If everyone became a trusted ally of the US, everyone would be friends and the world would be peaceful. "Why can't we all just....get along?" - President 'Jack Nicholason' in Mars Attacks right before he gets impaled by the alien gizmo.
  2. These guys are suspected Al-Queda....
  3. How can this be? http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...iraq_al_qaida_5 Al-Queda in Iraq....The Democrats insisted there was no terrorist presence there, yet the article says that the Us has 248 non-Iraqi fighters in custody....hmmm I wonder. All those libs who said Bush was lying and that he was finishing family business should go to the White House and beg forgiveness.
  4. This right winger isn't saying much because I have things to do in a day and didn't get to watch the speach so I can't comment on it. What I can say is that I think the way to get the UN involved is to pull out of IRaq and leave it a mess. The UN will go in hoping to get oil and the French and Germans will want their contracts back.(the reason they opposed military action in the first place) Screw Iraq. There is nothing there worth taking, so now that we've eliminated the threat, leave. Let the UN worry about it. It's what they do...sometimes. Also: Noticed part of the debate last night with the democrats and I couldn't get over how General Clark's voice sounds almost the exact same as Bush's! Their voices just have a very similar sound that was really weird.
  5. Well written Derek. Funny how the first response by our liberal comrades is to attack as opposed to discuss and offer alternatives...sounds like the same reason that in a midterm election the house AND senate were dominated by Republicans.... This is very rare for the in office president to have congress majority be his party also. Bush WILL win reelection. :-D Side note: THE RED SOX CLINCHED THE AL WILD CARD!!!!
  6. I disagree. Russia may have a few hundred more. if Bush is so aganist WMD, why did he call for new tactical WMD? Deterrent. It's what prevented WW3 from being fought between the Soviet Union and the USSR....mankind would have obliterated itself. If the US, of all nations, has the ultimate power in the world, we have a better chance of being a peaceful planet....
  7. With Canadaian independence though, they still hold strong ties to their parent country the UK in their currency and their calling everything Royal and such. I'm not trying to insult Canada. Just citing experiences from when I was there. I was quite certain the British were siding with the south...I'll look into that as you pose a good argument there. I did hear about a 'what if' fantasy where the Civil WAr ended in the Confederacy exisiting and how WW1 would have trench warfare in the states as the North would have gone with Germany(no lousitania or zimmerman telegram and such) and the South with England. Thought the idea was interesting. I'll check the facts though. It's sad WE pay for Israeli's defense. Yeah, they're a close friend to us but why are we footing the bill... I think something a president should finally do as opposed to only talkiong about is to cut down on gvoernment spending. There are so many people on welfare who doens't deserve it or don't need it or are too lazy to work. I think a flat tax is a good sollution too. So...yeah...that American Patriotism. I'm a Patriot and proud of it.....
  8. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,98080,00.html This shocked me. Granted people may say they couldn't get their voices heard, but it's up to the Secret Service to protect the President and make a judgement call. Sorry to have posisbly infringed on your right to havea temper tantrum. God forbid we keep our President alive and prevent a national security disaster all so you can have your protest!
  9. To be honest, I have never heard of an Invasion of Canada at that time. It was right after the Civil War ended and the country wasn't exactly up for another war...then again the President at that time would later be impeached...It was also during Reconstruction so there would have been a lot of policing in the south to protect the newly founded rights of the former slaves. The only reason I could see why we'd go into Canada, aside from the fact the president would later be impeached for doing something wrong (can't remember what though off hand) is that the British aided the Confederacy in hopes of messing up our country in hopes of a future reconquering of it or something like that. With Canadaians at the time be strongly allied with Britian, we might have retalliated. I had never heard of this though. My problem with your interpretation of history is you seem to view it that America should give up all that it has worked for and be Santa Claus to the rest of the world. The US owes the rest of the world nothing and only has the obligation of defending it's own security and prosperity. After the US has filled that obligation, our allies our next. What we have left over should be given to other country in trouble. We provide a heck of a lot of the humanitarian aid in this world provide a lot of food. We give like $4 billion to Egypt for some reason that is beyond me....maybe to keep them off the Israelis. We waste a lot of money on other countries and all we ask in return is to be able to live our lives peacefully. But we can't even get that.
  10. Wait for the primaries to be over first and see who wins. Then we'll see how he stands against the President.... Clark was a NATO general, not a US general, correct?
  11. Dax, nice to have ya. Good thing you're here because I apparently know nothing about history....to think all those classes I took and studying I did and I know nothing about history.<sarcasim regarding history as I considering it one of my fortes, serious about the welcome though> Oh, and Nova, I didn't take AP courses in HS. I went to college to take those courses. I did everything but major in history. I'm serious. You may not like my interpretation because it gives your party a bad name, but libs have been distorting history for over 70 years, so why should you stop. <anxiously awaiting reply a silly...>
  12. Aircraft Carriers are being built because they replaced the Battleship Class. They are currently the center of air/naval warfare. Yes, there are threats to them...but nothing gets within 200 miles of them without them knowing it and sending a welcoming party of a few tomcats. They are also the fastest ships in the Navy and some of the most advanced. If memory serves, we haven't had a Carrier destroyed since....I wanna say WW2 Pacific....could be wrong, but it's very unlikely as they have a fleet accompany them whereever they go. Yeah, they are big, but those sitting ducks and move quite fast. As far as ships mooring, we learned our lesson after Pearl Harbor and the backstabbing Japanese attacked us. One does not simply walk up to a Naval base. Have you ever been to one before? The Security and defense is unbelieveable. I was thoroughly impressed.
  13. Had Clinton gone after terrorists like Bush did in 93, 9-11-01 might have been just another Tuesday... http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...rror_mastermind That's why I like Bush. He sees something that has to be done and does it. He doesn't sit and debate it, he doens't contemplate about it, he finds what needs to be done and does it. America is better off for having him as our President.
  14. Under Judeo-Christian Morality, Having sex is considered wrong outside of wedlock. One of the reasons people marry, aside from lifelong commitment is to have intercourse and children. Considering homosexuality is considered immoral as a whole under those morals, they have no desire to marry because why would they want to legally bind themselves to one 'mate'(if you could call it that)....the real reason they want it is so two guys living together or two girls living together can get tax breaks.... Does that mean back wehn I was in college that my roommate and I, although neither of us were/are gay and are both happy with our girlfriends, couldn't we get 'married' just for taxes becuase we live in the same room? Heck, even if I could have, I wouldn't have..... TheWatcher has a good point. If you were to call a gay union something different, I personally wouldn't be as offended. I think it bothers me because of my religious beliefs and I feel they are being attacked by a marriage between gays. If there was a different word, perhaps it would make me and others opposed to it feel better. I'm not condemning anyone btw, it's not my place to judge...Just making a poltical statement.
  15. Nova, good post. No backup, no critiques....Lemme try it. Nova, you are wrong.
  16. America's Two Bigest Mistakes: 1)Electing Slick Willy Clinton 2)Reelecting Slick Willy Clinton Potential Third Mistake that will doom this country: 3)Electing Hilary. :-\ If she becomes President in 2008, I'm never having children because I refuse to bring children into a world that is going to cave in on itself!
  17. Very true, Derek. As for the UN being a humanitarian organization...The UN only gets things done when they enlist the US, England, and Canada's military to do it! Somalia? Bosnia? Yeah, the three countries who usually do anything are usually doing EVERYTHING. If the US dropped out of the UN(which I'd love to see) they would get very little done because they'd have no muscle. I do, sadly, forsee one day that a Hilary Clinton or some other radical moron will get into office as President and in the name of 'peace' hand over all our military to the UN....and eventually the UN will use it against us....although it's a religiously based series, the Left Behind series explains a lot of it, but unless you're a Christian it won't make any sense to you. I see people who join the UN military(ya know their two tanks and twenty troops, the NYC girl scouts could kick the crap out of them) and serve the UN. It bothers me somehow. It feels like they are betraying their homeland to listen to someone else. If I joined the US military, I'm at least following the orders of someone my country elected into office. The reason I don't join the US military is sometimes our President is dumb enough to listen to the UN and do whatever they say. *cough*Clinton*cough* How would risking my life in Bosnia or Somalia have helped my country? Dying for my country? I'll be the first volunteer. For some other backwards country that has been fighting since Biblical times....heck with them!
  18. Louis, some good points. It's interesting how things can be redefined depending on the circumstances. I've recently been studying the Mexican WAr through the Civil War and that period of US history and the idea if the south had been victorious, it would have been the Confederate Revolution as opposed to the Civil War is very contemplating. Nova, a lot of the actions you question you probably don't understand. None of us do because there are deeper reasons. The people in this country who know the most about what is going on in the world are the Preisdent of the United States and the CIA. What the President doesn't know, someone in the CIA(possibly some military also) probably do. The CIA may take part in 'illegal' actions as you would call it but there is a reason for it. They can see threats we can't. For example, going into Iraq. Not all the WMD evidence we have was shown to the UN because it was too classified. Why you ask? Cause if we were to show some things, we could expose contacts in Iraq and could get allies killed. There is a lot none of us know. For example, in the Congo, the assassination to which you reffered, probably happened for a reason. So unless you were in any Presidential briefings or on the CIA team that went into the Congo, you know about as much as I do and as the media does. There are always a lot of facts that are never revealed....I'm still curious what really happened at Roswell. :-p And with the US going into Canada in the war of 1812, I do not know a lot of the details of Canadian involvement but it makes sense for England to attack from Canada as well because if memory serves, Canada was more tied to England than they are now at the time. So the British used Canada as a staging point. Why did we go into Canada? Probably the same reason the Russians went into Poland in WW2. You stop the invasion and then push the enemy back so as to discourage any further attacks. As for the general's dying words: Not every general in US history expresses the mindset and ideas of the Government and Country. MacArthur wanted us to go into Korea and China forseeing a potential problem with them. Patton wanted to go after Russia while we still had the army there.(Ironic that both, mostly Patton, were correct in that we then fought a Cold War against the Soviets for the enxt 50 years) Strangely, both those generals died shortly after the war in 'accidents'. My point is that, right or wrong, not all generals see eye to eye with their commanders.
  19. I've taken more history than you probably have, but instead of sitting here quizing each other like middle schoolers, why don't we discuss the topic. For your silly response that you want: During the war of 1812, we entered Canada to repell invaders. As for the Congo, I prefer to get my history from facts, not www.liberalnews.com The US has done more for the innocents and the rest of this world than any other country on earth. We risked our own American soldiers to minimize Iraqi civillian deaths. Had I been President, I've have turned the country into a glass factory. Every American who has died over there died to defend 'innocent' Iraqis. We have the technology to not risk American lives, but we didn't use it to help them. As for you, O'Educated One, why read about democracy...The United States of America is NOT A DEMOCRACY. It's called a REPUBLIC. Your anti-American views are really starting to annoy me. You wouldn't risk breaking a fingernail for this country let alone your life. You have no love of this country or of the freedoms you have that many others paid for with their lives. You are very selfish and annoying.
  20. We will find WMD....we've been a bit busy keeping the restless natives out of trouble...they're not exactly making it easy. When we do find WMD, we'll have proven the uselessness of the UN.
  21. I think the Us should drop out of the UN and sink UN headquarters into the Hudson River....get out! Anyone agree? And where did this Kofi guy from? I didn't vote for him....
  22. Wow. That's unbelieveable....So they are burning freedom of speach and religion in favor of freedom of perversion. I can see the United States following suit if a Clinton or some other wacko where to get in office. Sorry to hear it's hitting you. Hopefully it'll get vetoed. What does Canada have for basic laws regarding freedom of speach and religion?
  23. Nova, I replied to each of your comments for me: Ok, we were in Canada when we were under British rule. In the Mexican War, the president of the time was in violation and was quickly voted out of office for what he did. The US had no part in the Congo butcherings. If murders happened, it happened at the hands of the Belgians. As far as being surprised how many people the US has directly or indirectly killed, how many of them that were killed had hostile intentions to America or her civillians? Innocent people always die, it's a shame, but if you counted all the innocents who died in say WW2, The US, France, England, Russia AND Germany and Japan would have a lot of blood on their hands....all because of accidents(not always accidents when it came to the SS and Japanese) Accidents happen and it's a shame. Other than that, those people were a threat to the country. Nova, every text book I've ever read in school was a bunch of liberal propaganda. I even saw one that MISQUOTED NEIL ARMSTRONG so the phrase was politically correct. You pretend it's right winged so as to cover what the liberals have done. I recommend you read Treason by Ann Coulter. She does a very good job of exposing the past crimes of the liberals...you may want to second guess your affiliation. I wasn't even aware of how many things they pulled that they've managed to hide from us....
  24. The ultimate Lib plan: Let the UN make decisions for our government....The French will have a say in what our government does.... I see our society dying as we speak....
  25. Withdrawl is suicide, are you saying we need to shoot everyone over there?
