  1. Nonsense! This does not qualify as an "issue". Get real people! Sex toy legislation! There are hundreds of thousands of people without jobs in this nation, tens of thousands without homes, and very literally millions of working poor. The economy is in taters, we are at war with our citizens sacrificing their lives on foreign soil and we would dare to claim that legislation for the sexual habits of citizens rates as an "issue " for the government to resolve............ you people are pathetic.
  2. What does that have to do with firing McKay?
  3. I think the number of broken promises indicates that Harper and his government are not honest. Then again I would say they are at least as honest as most governments.
  4. All true! Yet no matter how you look at it, its still a gamble.....now why do that? What is to gain?
  5. Why would you say that? The Senate only gets its useless hands on legislation after it goes through the whole gambit of the Commons. Harper is a long ways from being able to get what he wants in that chamber. If anything I think that the House of Commons would respond to the prorogue with both disdain and contempt. Harper , in my view would be making a large gamble, one in which I think he will force an election, and one in which he stands a very real chance of losing seats in. He may be able to retain power at this point, but his precarious hold of that may be in real danger. The opposition already has him presenting report cards as a means of retaining power! How demeaning is that for a PM?
  6. Most of our farmers markets operate "in season", not all but most. I think there is only one year round "farmers" market in Edmonton.
  7. The end justifies the means. Isn't that how we got the GST? Didn't Mulroney appoint 12 Senators to have enough votes to force it thorough...
  8. Are we talking about prisoner abuse, what the government was told and what they say they were told or about something else?
  9. I just don't see the issue as worthy of public debate or expense. If it is then I would suggest that there are implications to be considered which would mean a can of worms to open and resolve.
  10. Our farmers markets out here demand local production. The exception being BC produce is okay for sale.
  11. Either way, he lied and he should resign. Failing that Harper should fire him. Should Harper decide not to fire him if he does not resign then Harper is guilty of supporting a liar and places himself in the same boat.
  12. To return to the point....the entire concept of proroguing parliament is simply wrong. I don't care who has done it when or how many times, its still just wrong.
  13. Natural gas is a clean alternative when compared to oil or coal.
  14. Not to mention anything else but, isn't that just a wee bit over the top. ?
  15. Hang on.....who determines what is moral and what is not?
  16. Lets look at this a little differently. As in these folks are doing these things to themselves for pleasure. They are legal, but not regulated. Pot is illegal and you go to jail for it. So lets think about how some pleasures are legal and some are not. Lets think about the how and the why of these things. Now lets consider what we should really being doing about it.
  17. I hope that is in error. We have citizens in harms way over there and it is my hope that those of us not in harms way would somehow give a damn. Our safety is provided by those citizens under arms. We should be very damned grateful for their efforts and sacrifices.
  18. Which illustrates why the system needs reforms doesn't it?
  19. He has his country we have ours. I only wish we had leaders with as big a pair as he has.
  20. It was not really an evasion, just an observation. Equating the movie with real life is a bit of a stretch. I do however appreciate your approach to the problem and must say I find no fault in it. That said, I will suggest that it is you who are evading the problem by simply ignoring the fact that the judges are accountable to nobody besides other judges. The people have no means of reproaching these unelected people, and our elected representatives have no way of reproaching these judges either. While they are not above the law, they do have the privilege of judging their own, something the rest of us cannot do.
  21. First of all much of this nation is crown land. Perhaps the proper first step would be to divide all unoccupied land that all up amongst citizens. After that you could then sell off all the rest of the public properties and simply share the wealth.....good luck with that entire concept.
  22. As many have said before there are problems with global warming science. In other words even the so-called experts don't agree with the nuts and bolts within the theory. Based on that reality what hope do the average citizens have of understanding the problems when the scientists can't agree?
  23. The Arar issue troubles me. The man was innocent, yet handed over and tortured. In his case I would sue all the governments involved, period.
  24. Don't you think it would be nice to see a politician propose legislation that would see some real steps toward corruption?
