  1. A vast majority of Christians are also Conservative.
  2. So journalists should be accorded privilege instead of the right of the citizen?
  3. That is simply reality sinking in. Even if the party leader does not hand over some favours, the party will still do what it can for its fallen heros.
  4. How does this fall grab you? Look dude, I am an Alberta separatist and believe firmly the best route there is to have two things happen in short order. First thing is to have a Liberal Government in Ottawa, I now plan to facilitate that by voting for them! The second thing is to have another Trudeau in Ottawa. You give Justin another five years and that man will run for and acquire Liberal Party Leader status. Another Trudeau in power will have Albertans buying guns!
  5. Okay then, be happy with what you have. Keep those partisan dollars flowing from the tax paying citizen who now has to fund those elections based upon popular support. You do realize that the previous election dictates how much money each party gets from the government right? That is a subtle yet important point because money is the life blood of politics. Partisan governments have now decided to keep the party alive at the expense of the citizen. That is what your real beef should be, the reforms that reformed things in favour of the politicians instead of the citizens.
  6. What you really means is that Calgary has received more money but that it was justified in your opinion.
  7. Do you really believe that Calgary has not been the net beneficiary of more capital injection from the province than Edmonton has from King Peter until today?
  8. Then support independent candidates!
  9. I am not sure of that at all. We are talking about someone who knowingly put themselves into a situation where they could be harmed. That is a reckless action on the part of the individual. Should the government be held to account for the reckless manner in which its citizens conduct themselves? Or should the citizen have some responsibility and accountability in this situation?
  10. Have the government treat it the same way it treats Calgary for starters.
  11. But the party will.........
  12. I simply can't wait to see what position Justin Trudeau gets in the next government............
  13. Help him? Isn't that what we are talking about?
  14. It means more women are being hired by employers with unions and there is a corresponding number going into small "p" politics in the union.
  15. Yeah, they should have elected someone from Calgary as major of Edmonton out of the local fascist club!! So there!
  16. It seems to me that the nation has no real option but to pursue the interests of the citizen. I don't like it, but there it is.
  17. The auto industry is a very special case. A huge chunk of Ontario industry is in this sector, and so are a huge chunk of votes. Thats why we have spent 2.5 million dollars a job to keep GM floating around.
  18. I drove by the Petroleum Club the other day, looks like it could use some work!
  19. There are always lots of issues, the problem is the partisan factions deciding which one gets put on the front burner. It is an exercise in politics, deciding where they can get the most support by leaning this way or that way on every single issue. All spin aside, Iggy has a large and difficult task ahead of him. Funding is one but only a single part of the equation. Timing is another. No matter which way he goes there are detractors in the wings, hell I'm one of them myself. Iggy needs to consider all of his options, and I think he plans to do that this summer. Frankly I simply can't see finding agreement on the EI issue with the Conservatives, and I can't believe that he does either. I think Iggy knows how to play a good game. Waiting until fall to call the ball could be the right thing to do, but since Harper did not want a summer election thats what I would give him. By fall, the bailout packages and stimulus packages will either be seen as working or not. The EI situation will only get worse, not better. The deficit and debt will only get larger not smaller. The problems inside Harpers cabinet will become more visible, even after a shakeup. So I do understand the reasoning, I just don't think Harper should be living at 24 Sussex.
  20. I think he should have pulled the plug and tossed the dice, but that is just me. Its his ball to call, not mine. The problem that I see is that Iggy must be seen as working toward resolving this EI issue. While doing that he must be aware of the optics of going against Harper on another area and that will raise some questions.
  21. It seems that this guy is grasping for straws. Wouldn't you?
  22. I never said they did. My comment was merely to illustrate that lack of accountability inherent within the system.
  23. Unions, whether public sector or private sector are protected by law, and governed by law.
  24. Governments are not held accountable under this system so they can promise anything and deliver nothing without consequence.
  25. I disagree with Iggy on this one. Yet I can understand his desire to provide the appearance of cooperative effort with the government. If the exercise fails he is able to point the finger and say we tried but the government would not compromise. The resulting general election would then become Harpers responsibility.
