  1. According to you that is. Do you understand that the unions are continually seeking improved working conditions and benefits for their members? Keep in mind these folks are paid representatives and they expected to bring value for their services.
  2. The entire planet would benefit from "fair trade" and switching to a resource based economy.
  3. No, Canada "bought it out" how much we paid for it is very difficult find out, still working on that little tidbit. I did not, you have reading comprehension issues dude. Do tell! So just exactly what is the public part of the Fed?
  4. The Bank of Canada was originally a privately owned bank, that changed in 1938. It is now a crown corporation. I will suggest that you sniff around and see what the impact of centralized banking really was and is. The Bank of England was not nationalized until 1946, it was a private bank for more than 350 years. Just think of what can happen over three and a half centuries of banking. The United States Federal Reserve Bank and the Deutsche Bundesbank are privately owned. The Bank of Japan is both private and public. There are numerous permutations to the system, but they are linked through the IMF and the World Bank.
  5. Those were American references because they fought tooth and nail for decades to avoid the problem. The Federal Reserve was not the first private central bank in the US. The others had their charters revoked when the country realized the mistake in granting it. This is the third version that you see now. Look it up.
  6. Better question is how many do not...........??????? Don't take my word on this look it up, you will not be pleased with what you can find. From there start looking into the fractional reserve system used by the banks, and what the implications of that really are.
  7. I don't see it that way. I have just started a new thread. It is posted to raise attention to an international problem. The problem exists everywhere though, and I hope to raise the public attention to it through this medium of the internet. Please take a peek and notice that I make the accusation that a lot of problems stem from this one single issue.
  8. In my view the root problem on this planet today is privately owned and operated central banks. These entities hold the debts of nations, are not accessible or accountable to the public and are the primary cause of inflation internationally. They are one of the main reasons why citizens worldwide suffer from high taxation. These organizations were responsible for the creation of the IMF, the World Bank and the Bank for International Settlements. They are the ones that have real economic power and they are the ones that really control international and national monetary policy. These are the organizations that print the currencies of the nations, they are the ones that set the value of the nations currencies. When credit is controlled by private interests and the supply of hard currency is controlled by private interests then the nations have no control over their own monetary policies. Thomas Jefferson once said; Another US President, To prove the point, Or how about;
  9. Not a nice thing to be limelighted for is it?
  10. To date this has not been tried. I would not advocate such a strategy because it takes away what little opportunity we have for getting the public to determine a course of action.
  11. Once again, the unions have powers granted unto them by law. Is this to much power? Perhaps, but think about the rights of labour before you decide. In addition you need to review the facts and see for yourself that the unions DID in fact agree to numerous concessions for the auto companies.
  12. That is not news, nor is it any different the Cuban issue with the US.
  13. Apathy is the democratic disease we are dealing with here. Your solution is to join the problem?
  14. That would depend on your definition of self government. I will suggest that the Government of Canada undertake actions that would result in the settlement of all land claims and the transfer of all powers and authorities with respect to native lands into the hands of the natives. Let them tax and spend their own money to provide the services they desire. In short convert them into municipalities.
  15. True enough. On the other hand, citizens should be free to act of their own accord. The time for the state to step in would be in the case of an actual violation of the law. In my mind that did not occur. The promotion of hatred must be a public act in order for it to ring a bell.
  16. My attempt was to provide a means of limiting negotiations since a great deal of time is always spent on the money issues and talks usually devolve into that category. I thought that by eliminating that specific area of discussion other issues of relevance could be negotiated.
  17. Give them self government. This is the kind of thing that gets government relations with them in the bad press category.
  18. The only solution to middle east peace is an end to nationalism. Until that happens there is simply no realistic hope.
  19. I would suggest that you vote, and further to that encourage everyone you come across to vote as well. Don't go partisan on them, go democratic on them, tell them to vote to strengthen our democracy with participation and public input.
  20. Weed laws are foolish. It needs to be legalized, and quickly. Lots of graft from taxes to be had, and a lot of savings from keeping potheads out of jails. The trafficking issue must be handled though. Underage usage must be handled as well.
  21. India is a huge market, don't discount them.
  22. Money does play into the issue doesn't it? I once attempted to have my union abandon wage issues by proposing that the union incorporate a cost of living adjustment into our contract . The idea was to take the annual rate of inflation as posted by the Government of Canada quarterly as a raise. Given that business always passes along price increases to consumers I thought that it would be a good way to go. I was shot down in flames.
  23. What we need is to eliminate apathy and have citizens participate in the political process.
