Outraged! Thunder Bay Mom Wants answers
Chuck U. Farlie replied to charter.rights's topic in Local Politics in Canada
Rational or not, the TA should go through the correct channels. If they wanted the hair cut, they can ask you (the parent) - not do it them self. -

So in this case you happen to agree with the change made, but what if the TA did something to your kid that you did not agree with? What if they cut the hair into a mullet or shaved a swastika in his head? -
Canadians divided over creation and evolution

Yes, this is exactly how I meant it. I certainly hope that creationists don't go taking any vaccines either - I mean, how hypocritical can you be? -

If that teacher had tried to cut my hair, they would have been stabbed with their scissors. I had a hell of a temper as a kid (and possibly still do), and I consider someone cutting my hair as an assault on me. Just because you don't like a hair style or how someone looks doesn't give you any right to go change it yourself. How would you like it if someone came up to you and started cutting your hair? How about if someone did it to your wife or child? -
Canadians divided over creation and evolution
Chuck U. Farlie replied to jdobbin's topic in Religion & Politics
It is almost pointless to argue with creationists - their faith blinders keep them from considering any evidence what-so-ever. If only they would not be hypocritical and not make use of anything that has any involvement with evolutionary theory. If they did so, they would have to reject a lot of modern medicine - including modern antibiotics. Have you ever used antibiotics Betsy? Would you rather the scientists that create modern antibiotics be ID or evolution believers? If you are going to support creationism, then don't have the audacity to make use of antibiotics - and certainly don't use any anti-viral medicine if you happen to get any strain of the flu. http://evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/a...0_0/medicine_03 This is straight from Berkeley: So Betsy, no more medicine use in your future eh? That would be hypocritical of you. -

I like one of the comments given below the article: "The answer is very simple. Hold the teacher down and shave her head. Afterall it appears not to be a crime." -
Canada's immigration policy.
Chuck U. Farlie replied to Machjo's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't know what the government's immigration policy should be, but the current way of encouraging immigrants to retain their culture is going to come back to bite us in the ass. Check out this story from today's national post... The author said 'hi' to his neighbour in his condo - just being friendly. She is hardcore muslim and complained to her master (oops! I mean husband), who then proceeded to threaten the author with death. That is a nice cultural trait to retain, isn't it? I think I will start whistling at and making cat-calls to all the muslim burkka wearing woman who live in my building.... just to stir the pot. http://www.nationalpost.com/todays-p...tml?id=1618828 -

Benny has now won the privilege, along with oleg bach, to be placed on ignore as most of his posts are meaningless and don't ad to the discussion what-so-ever. Goodbye benny, good luck in your quest to reach 2000 useless postings by the end of the week. -
Ontario PC Leadership Race
Chuck U. Farlie replied to jdobbin's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I decided to right a letter to Christine Elliot today, here it is: Is there any kind of poll that suggests who is the front runner? As my letter says, I would hate for one of the 2 guys who support abolishing the HRC to win the party leadership - only to blow another election and hand Liberals another majority over a minor election issue. -

Here Betsy, I found a very simple but informative explanation of evolution for you... so you can get some of the terms and concepts that you messed up straight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vss1VKN2rf8 -
The Evolutionists' Fundamentalist Preacher
Chuck U. Farlie replied to betsy's topic in Religion & Politics
She obviously isn't up to the challenge to answer any of ToadBrother's very well put challenges, so she is spilling her drivel and running - typical creationist behaviour... none of them put themselves in a position to face real challenges. -
The Evolutionists' Fundamentalist Preacher
Chuck U. Farlie replied to betsy's topic in Religion & Politics
Betsy, why did you label this thread "The Evolutionists' Fundamentalist Preacher" and go on and on calling atheists 'minions' and 'disciples'? Do you honestly believe that Dawkins is some sort of atheist leader? There are a lot of atheists out there who don't know or don't care what Dawkins said. Dawkins is not creating his stuff to convince atheists - we already are non-believers! I, for one, have never read anything Dawkins has published and I don't need to. Dawkins is creating his stuff (I presume) to educate the believers (and those that haven't made up their minds) and to try to improve the world by getting away from the backward non-scientific thinking as well as the indoctrination they preach - but as I said, I am not of his target audience because I am already open-minded... unlike some people. P.S... if you are unclear about the term open minded... here is a nice little video that explains how YOU are not: -

Chuck U. Farlie replied to betsy's topic in Religion & Politics
I have read almost no posts in this thread... didn't see much point in bothering with this drivel... but I can't help but to say to the OP: Even if Dawkins did change his personal belief system at some point, why should that matter to other atheists? It is just as possible for people to become deluded just as it is possible for people to become enlightened. Just because it is possible for people to regress doesn't mean that their past work is automatically rendered irrelevant. Atheism isn't a religion, and we don't go blindly following some leader like certain other groups tend to do. Dawkins is no atheist pope - he is just a scientist who has made some interesting observations and commentary. -

For all of the creationists lurking around here... here is a good serious on youtube that easily debunks a lot of ID's top supporters/propagators: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=AC3481305829426D -
As if it is not bad enough, now the NDP is advocating for these protesters to continue with their illegal actions: From: http://www.thestar.com/article/633549 I just sent off a letter to both of those MPPs and CC'd Oakley from AM640 basically blasting them for advocating lawlessness. I told both of them that it is grossly irresponsible for an elected representative to advocate assaulting police officers and storming a highway, and I said I hope the media rapes these guys for the statements they made. If anyone else cares to share their views: [email protected] [email protected]

Now that the coppers have let a highway get stormed, and the result was very few charges, media listened, and government listened (okay, not THE government, but members of the government anyway) it is guaranteed this is going to happen again - now it can be seen as a way to get noticed. The cops should have arrested the lot of them, children's aid should have taken away the kids that were brought onto the highway, and every one of the protesters without Canadian citizenship should have been deported. That would have taught them to protest legally and let them know that laws need to be followed in Canada, if they don't want to live like that, then go home - hell, even give them a gang-confiscated weapon from the police's vault - let them fight their own battle back at home.

Harmonizing the GST and PST
Chuck U. Farlie replied to Topaz's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
How is something that is exempt from tax being subsidized? Used vehicles are now currently exempt from GST. After harmonization, will they have GST placed on top as well? If so, how is the government currently subsidizing used cars? How is the government subsidizing internet service providers? Please elaborate... I don't understand how not paying tax on something is equal to subsidizing it. -

Do the 905 blindly vote liberal? I thought that was the 416? I know that my riding - Cooksville, which is in the 905 - is strongly Liberal with Peter Fonseca as the MPP, but that is partially because the conservatives don't run very strong candidates here. During the last Fed election, for example, the Cons ran a TV personality who was rejected as a Liberal. In every way the Liberal incumbent was the best choice for a local rep, but I voted Con instead despite the weak candidate. -
BC Chick, if you are that worried about a virus or a worm... just install an anti-virus program and update the definitions... there are plenty of good free ones you can use like Avast or AVG.... you can find either at www.freewarefiles.com

Harper Working on Scrapping the Gun Registry!

Michael Den Tandt, writing in the Toronto Sun, seems to agree with you that this had almost nothing to do with the long gun registry - it is just a politically strategic move: http://www.torontosun.com/comment/columnis...986186-sun.html -
LARGEST DEFICIT IN ONTARIOS HISTORY
Chuck U. Farlie replied to madmax's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I wish I had the option to only pay for the services I use - I am tired of (being middle class) having to subsidize the rest of society. I only drive about 10000km a year, I'd be happy to pay a toll instead of gasoline tax, vehicle tax, etc.. I don't have kids and never will, I would be happy to opt out of paying for other people's kids education. If you want to have kids, you pay for them. The world has too many people as it is; I shouldn't have to pay for others irresponsibility. I'd be happy to pay for private health insurance or directly to clinics if I had that option. I haven't been to a doctor in 4 years, and the last time I went was in Indonesia where I visited a western trained private doctor - it was very fast, efficient, and not very expensive. I think I would save money in Calgary. No PST, and from what I have seen the provincial income tax rates are lower than Ontario and are some of the lowest in Canada. It seems that housing is just as expensive as here in the GTA, and I haven't checked out property tax rates yet so I don't know if I would save money or just break even there. I know I would be saving money on insurance premiums. -
LARGEST DEFICIT IN ONTARIOS HISTORY
Chuck U. Farlie replied to madmax's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I don't remember when the GST was brought out anymore... I am only 33. All I can base my assumptions on is that if this HST was brought out tomorrow, I would stop spending or I would only spend money at flea markets or chinatown (black market)... I would do that, while hoping that others do the same, to purposely send the government a message. In my personal situation, I am already making plans to relocate to Alberta. I have always liked Calgary, and there seems to be many things that I agree with in Alberta - lower taxes, privately run beer stores, fewer liberals and ndpers, and some mountains.... Fortunately I work for Canada Post, so it should be fairly easy to arrange for a transfer. -
LARGEST DEFICIT IN ONTARIOS HISTORY
Chuck U. Farlie replied to madmax's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I know you weren't asking me, but I am against the HST only because of the timing. If we were booming and unemployment was low, and while I don't like taxes much, increasing consumption taxes while decreasing income taxes seems a good way to go. However, when people are already not spending, people are losing jobs, and businesses are struggling, the last thing we should do is increase consumption taxes (which increases what companies will have to charge their customers). I feel this move will only serve to prolong the recession in Ontario. Early in 2010 people might spend a bit more on large items only to avoid the upcoming merge of taxes, but after June or July when the HST is brought out, people will likely stop spending (similar to the Millar land transfer tax in toronto - housing sales boomed just before it was implemented). -
Harmonizing the GST and PST
Chuck U. Farlie replied to Topaz's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
So you are saying this will be run exactly like the current GST system is now? In that case, you don't even have to make money (as a business) to claim money back. I ran a business in the past that during the first few months of startup I was getting GST cheques because I was buying quite a bit more than I was selling. If that is how it will be setup, then time to dig out the ole' business number and apply for a HST account.... and time to start claiming as much as I can (once all this business starts in 16 months, that is) - even if I don't make any profit.
