Right, because until you read about something it doesn't exist? So until the CBC reports on all the Islamist demonstrations in Europe calling for the same destruction of freedom of speech and expression, these demonstrations didn't take place, right? Considering the CBC refused to report on these events in order to shield people like you from truths you don't have the honesty to acknowledge, it's not surprising that you're unaware of the same events happening in many parts of the world from the usual suspects. This is another teachable moment: If a tree falls in the woods and Michael Hardner isn't there to hear it, does it make a sound?

Your politics are disgusting. You're continuing on with labelling DogOnPorch as a Nazi, although you may not even realise it. The term "scapegoating" is typically used in political discourse to refer to how Nazis persecuted the Jews. Considering you already made a not-so-subtle suggestion that I am a Nazi, you're now doubling down on it and accusing DogOnPorch of Nazi-like sensibilities by stating that he is engaging in scapegoating. That's two people in this thread (and perhaps by extension Wild Bill) who you've described as Nazis. Why do you resort to this despicable line of attack? Because you can't contribute anything substantive.

This is another teachable moment in English for Michael Hardner. scape·goat [skeyp-goht] Show IPA noun 1. a person or group made to bear the blame for others or to suffer in their place. 2. Chiefly Biblical . a goat let loose in the wilderness on Yom Kippur after the high priest symbolically laid the sins of the people on its head. Lev. 16:8,10,26. Please explain where DogOnPorch engaged in any scapegoating with this statement. Where is he casting blame onto a certain group for the ills of others? Again, Michael Hardner doesn't even grasp the core of the discussion. What happened here was a demand, from Muslims, that freedom of speech and expression be destroyed in order to appease their sensibilities. What DogOnPorch wrote was entirely accurate. There was not even a scintilla of scapegoating taking place. This is perhaps the fourth time in as many days that you're misusing basic English terms, and a simple consultation of the dictionary is needed to put down your ridiculous assertions.

Well, these occurrences are largely buried by most of the media landscape for transparently political reasons. Here was a great moment from Evan Solomon, Fast forward to 1:05, listen to Hasan Mosab Yousef's statement, and then laugh at Solomon's response as he trips over himself in apologism for Islam.

Hey! Are you suggesting that there is greater proclivity for Muslims to subscribe to a set of values antithetical to those of Canada than members of many other religions? Islamophobe! I remember Michael Hardner, awhile back, compared the Taliban with Christian conservatives in the USA. Here are Michael Hardner's ideological contemporaries: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXxOQG9nr-M

We've already had a little blood shed. Consider Omar Khadr. And there have been several terrorist operations stopped. I recall a couple of big ones, one in Toronto and one in Ottawa. You're right, though, it's gonna get worse. Worse yet, we've got a bunch of folks like those in this thread that will do everything they can to enable more of it.

So, assuming it's a new word and new concept, does that mean it's a new occurrence? Did gravity only come into existence once the term was coined and the theory established?

My experience tells me that most political discussion forums skew to the left (unless they explicitly identify as something else), so if I'm right (and I may very well be dead wrong), then MLW is not a microcosm of Canadian opinion. Something about internet discussion forums appeals more to leftists than conservatives, but I won't share my opinions as to why I think that is. In other words, hopefully those like Michael Hardner are overrepresented here on MLW and not in such a large proportion in the broader Canadian electorate.

Michael Hardner's ideological contemporaries did the exact same thing with AFDI ads in the NYC subway stations stating "SUPPORT ISRAEL, DEFEAT JIHAD". Their argument? You're slandering all Muslims as "savages"! Of course, that's not what was said or even implied. These leftists are unable to discern between a part of the group and the entire group. They're entirely content to continue down the path of cultural suicide. I haven't given up hope that a sufficient number of Canadians will continue to wake up and get the courage to clearly assert that being Canadian means something beyond simply the health card and passport, and to demand that a core set of values be adhered to, regardless of what "multiculturalism" tries to demand from us. The funny thing is, I think "multiculturalism" was initially meant to give equal value to English, French, and Aboriginal cultures in Canada. Like many other poorly-conceived government policies and programs, however, the Frankenstein that resulted from this policy wasn't anticipated by the "experts" that people like Michael Hardner put so much trust in.
-
That's a good question. I doubt it, at least in the sense of how "multiculturalism" has been defined in Canada and Europe (and Australia?). For us it's a disaster, it's actually enshrined in our constitution. Even our Supreme Court is to take "multiculturalism" into account when rendering its decisions. It's sick.

Right, because patriotism is something you have contempt for. Patriotism and nationalism are values of the ignorant right-wing, and (fake) intellectuals like yourself are beyond such low-level values. Nice disgusting comment, trying to suggest that we're Nazis. Its also sick that you're suggesting that anything we've said even remotely resembles Nazism's values.

So here we go with the accusations of thought crime. I've stated many times that there are certain specific measures that could be implemented when it comes to screening people based on values. Leftist like you just responded with nonsense like, "Well, what if they lie? How you gonna deal with that, smart guy?". Yeah... great logic, let's get rid of the laws on the books against murder because we can't stop it in all cases. Don't you get it? There's no point in discussing specifics with you when not only do you reject the existence of a cultural struggle in Canada that is directly connected to contemporary immigration and "multiculturalism" policies, but you are also committed to slandering views that reject your leftist universalism and cultural/moral relativity as bigotry and unjustifiable prejudice. Why in the world should one get specific with a person like you who doesn't even understand the broad concepts involved? It's as if you want to learn about the electron transport chain before even knowing the components of a cell. You don't even understand the basics, so why get specific with you?
-
Both Wild Bill and DogOnPorch echoed my earlier sentiment about disastrous immigration and multiculturalism policies. Wild Bill described "violent and dangerous" cultures, and DogOnPorch described "inferior" cultures. We're all on the same page, here. We want responsible immigration policies and an end to contemporary multiculturalism that calls for cultural/moral relativism. Of course, the leftist entourage resorts to slander, suggesting that such responsible perspectives are bigoted and grounded in unjustifiable prejudice.

It's about as funny as your screen name, considering there isn't one iota of conservatism in you. But hey, this is the modern age, where Orwellian language is now common.
