the problem is parents who don't teach tolerance and environmental responsibility. anyways, i'm done arguing with you. public schools will be around forever. parents can't afford to live off one income. parents have no choice and they send their kids to the public school. things are working out well.

there aren't many shootings in europe at all. the norway shooting was the only one we heard about. i watch the cbc every day and never have i heard of shootings in europe like there are in good ole gun happy usa. you pull BS out of your ass to try to make a point but you have no proof.

what they learn in the public system is the same they learn at home. i dont confuse them.

you add nothing to the debate again. do you have kids BH? do you send them to public school?

gun violence in the usa is a joke. how come there isn't this constant violence in europe. i'll tell you why. europe has strict gun laws. that's why. the usa is clinging to a relic that incites racist violence like what just happened in wisconsin. thank goodness many north americans are starting to realize that europe has a much better system in almost everything than we in north america.

i don't see them too often as they are mostly with their mom. when they are with me they learn to treat all people equally and they learn to protect the environment. i instill quality values on my kids.

my two kids are in daycare learning tolerance.

the state as you callously put it, is concerned about all children and want whats best for all children. public daycares and public schools are what is best for all children and the earlier the better. parents are too concerned about their careers to give kids quality time so the kids get their quality time in daycares and schools away from possible intolerance and bigotry.

At university i studied horace Mann, one of the earliest proponents of public education. here is what he said. i agree and am thankful top notch educators still agree with him. We who are engaged in the sacred cause of education are entitled to look upon all parents as having given hostages to our cause.

that will never happen because i know for fact that there are very few cons in department of educations. the left has controlled public schools since the 60s. that is why public education is so great.

Governments need to forcibly confiscate guns from all citizens. i hope obama gets that done next term. enough of the hatred and violence already. america is full of gun nuts and there seems to be more and more shootings there. how stupid do people have to be?

I think governments have done a great job of making it hard for one parent to stay home. governments know that in order to remove all racism and intolerance they need to get all kids in government daycares and public schools at an early age. kids that spend more time in daycares and public schools are less likely to be influenced by some of their parents intolerance. i'm glad it is hard for parents to survive on one income, because if they allowed tax breaks for stay at homes many jobs would be lost in education and daycare workers. and to the neo cons who say this was started by left wing governments, which is true because they know what is best for us, then why hasn't harper and his government done anything to keep parents at home? some of you have no clue why the public school system is best for society.

I know what i believe and I don't form my opinions reading what others post on this forum. Betsy was right, no one cares about the three r's anymore. I wouldn't be on my way to being a teacher if that's what we had to focus on. Social justice, environmentalism are what important and I'm lad government schools are taking the lead role in teaching all children these thins ti create a better society. Karl Marx had some great insights as to how public education should be and what it's purpose should be. That got me excited. We can teach about Karl Marx now because the history books are no longer biased against him. Check it out for yourself and you will see. Marx knew that in order to create a great society you had to get kids away from their parents as early as possible so their minds wouldn't be corrupted.
