I BACK YOU UP 100%. Nice to know someone understands the law. Of course they won't read what you said and that is precisely the problem. They won't consider any opinion that doesn't feed their mantra of aboriginals should not be able to exercise native rights that flow from treaties they signed. This b.s. about aboriginals need to be treated the same is code word for-we should be able to violate all aboriginal treaties and not have to worry about any legal agreements the Canadian government signed that preceded and take precedent over any provincial law. This is about denying aboriginal rights because of resentment and jealousy. This resentment that aboriginals are getting something unfair is a friggin joke. These same John Waynes would not trade places with an aboriginal on a reservation or high unemployment site in a million years. This series of posts rverted to jibberish when the Ontario Land Registry system was misrepresented as having legal precedent over aboriginal native rights. Then again I have very rarely found any anti-aboriginal writing in to have the faintest clue about how the law really works. Why start now. -
In this specific case Iran revealed information that proved Britain was in Iraqi waters. when Iran realized the quadrants and coordinates it released proved Britain was in Iraqi waters it back-pedalled. The display was there and anyone not brain damaged heard it and saw Iran back-pedal. Its just another stupid immature bout of bravado which the British will as usual wait out. Iran has made a fool of itself and long after the British are released thwy will no doubt be up to this again. Its tiresome. Its like a spoiled child that keeps soiling its pants because it won't potty train.

The term "Muslim" has come to mean much more today then just religion. It is used as a catch-phrase or code word for; 1-all people who believe in Islam 2-terrorists from the Middle East who claim to be Muslim 3-an angry man with dark skin, a mustache, a propensity to burn American flags and who looks like Borat. No one wants to admit it but the word Muslim has become what the word Jew became a long time ago. It covers race, ethnicity, religion, politics and perceived physical characteristics. Technically Muslims are of every race and skin colour but the definition often used has reverted to an anry guy with a big nose and mustache and dark skin a similiar stereotype to the Jew. I can not stand it when people talk of Muslims as if they are all the same physical race, all have the same political opinions, and all agree with fundamentalism or terrorism. Ic an't stand it the same way I can't stand the generalizations about Jews and how any discussion on the Middle East depicts Muslims as terrorists and Israelis as first and foremost Jews joiend in this conspiracy with other Jews to control the world. Either way it sucks. That said its very good and healthy to criticize anyone's religion for any reason especially if they use it to condone violence and I believe it is incumbent on us all to criticize and lambast anyone who believes terrorism or violence is an acceptable method of expressing anything. That said please don't ask me to get riled up and hate Muslism because of a-hole extremists. As far as I am concerned I hate everyone equally. I prefer animals. At least when a horse shits, its genuine and you know where you stand or at least should not stand.

You make a point I would not disagree with. I do not blame the teachers. I pin the blame directly on wussy school boards with no balls and idiot parents who have brought their children up to be prissy little twits and its not particular to Muslims by any means although this story incites precisely because it deals with Muslims and it plays on the theme that all Muslims are close minded bigots which is not true. If there is a group of Muslims acting in a closed minded manner it reflects on them not all Muslims just like I do not blame all Christians for those including those on this post who like to pretend they are discussing the holocaust when in fact they simply want to deny it and disguise it as discussion. It is intellectual cowardice no more no less.
-
This says nothing substantive. Some teachers are reluctant to cover all kinds of topics for fear of upsetting anything. Indeed, some teachers in the USA are reluctant to cover evolution for fear of upsetting Christain fundamentalists (whether they are in the school or not). That is the point. I agree and I am a Jew. This is really about teachers afraid to upset students. In this case this case the subject was the holocaust so it has the ability to inflame already over-heated negative preconceptions about Muslims and as you say this b.s. goes on all the time about a lot of subjects. I am fully confident the vast majority of Muslim people in North America would not allow their children to deny the holocaust and yes this fear of upsetting students is going to far in a lot of areas. That is the real issue-avoiding contraversy because teachers do not feel they can control the students. Whether that student is Muslim, Christian, Jewish, atheist, they all should be required to study the same curriculum and conform to the same rules or get their prissy little attitudes readjusted.
-
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...770&ito=newsnow The above is intellectual cowardice and unacceptable. Anyone who denies the holocaust and thinks they can hide behind religion as an excuse to deny it is mistaken. More to the point I can not possibly imagine the majority of Muslims in the free world agreeing with this. Thsi reflects a minority of Muslims and whether they want to hear it or not their personal opinions are not relevant to what history needs to be taught. When we start to censor history because some people don't want to hear it, this becomes an absurd joke. I personally believe this story is turning into an ugly anti-Muslim thing and I do not think it reflects on Muslims as a people and I am Jewish. It is an isolated incident. The school where those teachers work needs to grow some balls quickly.

Ah, what an excellent example of ... trying to find a gentlier, milder equivalent to s-word... whatever. I gather, you aren't expecting a response to that? No and thank God for that. When I am at the point when I read people referring to the use of children as decoys as simply a semantic issue as to use of war tactics I am passed repulsed. I wish I could take the guts of the Palestinian child I saw blow up and deliver it to you in aa bag to make my point but then I thank God you are so removed from such a thing you can't fathom it and make such comments. Leave it to die like anyone else who tries to suggest children can be used in war as a legitimate decoy weapon and its simply semantics to discuss this use of humans.
-
Because that is your subjective projection? I am sure they look like cute cuddly victims to the usual on these posts.

Its not racist to hate anyone who is an extremist. It is racist if you make negative generalizations about all Muslims. As it is when ever we have a post on anything to do with the Middle East the same 3 posters write in and make generalized slurs against anyone who supports Israel and suggests Israel is to blame for anything and everything in the Middle East. Generalizations are tiresome and quite frankly the manifestation of intellectually lazy people who need to simplify that which is too complex for their brains to assimilate without easy negative slurs and creating bad and good guys. I think it is important we do not lose sight of the fact that Muslim extremists who engage in terroris, are just that, terrorists and extremists first and foremost. The fact they claim to be Muslim to me is a red herring. The fact that they are facist violent brutal animals that believe in using murder and chaos to express political will does. As far as I am concerned Iran is a regime run by people who have no respect for the law and believe in sponsoring and supporting terrorism and engaging in it to get their political veiws showcased. That makes them in my opinion cowardly Norway rats. wait I shouldn't insult the rats.
-
"It was the pro-Israeli community..." yes its a code word amd yes its right on cue and yes its the same thing. ..when an event happens int he Middle East, blame it on Israel and go the next step amd blaem it on anyone who supports Israel which is a safe coded way of turning this into a not so subtle racist knee jerk reaction to dettract from the real issue. Whenever anything happens in the Middle East Higgly will be there to make generalzied slurs against what he sees as a conspiracy of Israel supporters behind it all. I am sure Figgy an Polynewby agree with him. And you want to know why Sasha Cohen makes movies like Borat? It is absolutely ludicrous to blame this on "pro-Israel" supporters. However can anyone see why I can not take certain posters seriously anymore witht heir knee jerk slurs and scapegaoting of Israel everytime some nutcase in the Middle East does something? If it wasn't so ludicrous I would laugh but this is what passes as debate.

Why has no one produced any Syrians or Iranians to prove it? Uh hello the Americans arrested Iranian revolutionary guard in Iraq.

"Thanks for admitting that one way of killing people is no better than another... it's just a matter of terminology. Like calling dropping a bomb into a populated city "accidental killing". " Myata I must confess I have reacted to some of your comments very strongly and I will try control myself but the above comment with due respect about sums up why I get so exasperated with you and some of the other posters. For you to make a statement that suggests all killings are the same and should be judegd the same is absurd. This is precisely why we have criminal codes, internationall laws, international conventions, war crimes. How can you make such a comment after you have in your life witnessed massacres in Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, Biafra, Cambodia, Kurd-Iraq, Serbia. Are you oblivious to what happens when people in the name of political will terrorize and kill people? Are you oblivious to the fact there is a difference between self-defence and pre-meditated murder? Are you oblivious to the fact there is something seriously wrong when yout ake children and use them as a military weapon? What has happened to you that you would make such a statement knowing that using innocent people as weapons or as shields is not morally equivalent to self-defence? if you can't understand that then my God man, its time you sit down with a victim of the holocaust, someone who survived Rwanda and Burundi or Sudan, someone who escaped political torture. You Myata are everything I absolutely loath in humans when they discuss such things. You try rationalize terrorism as a morally acceptable action. For that you disgust me. sorry but you do. You have lost the most basic value of life-that life is precious and we don't exploit the innocent and snuff their lives out because we think its a legitimate way to express ourselves. I am shocked I even have to write this.

"CNN reports the news, they don't make it up." With due respect, CNN is part of the illuminati which is controlled by the Zionists and masonists.

If I have a problem with a mafia boss I should take it up with him only, not with the thugs that he sends to break peoples kneecaps? Thanks for helping me understand. The British marines are thugs. They break the kneecaps of Iranian people. Man that is nasty. What is with that? Why must they be like that? You think its their diet or maybe watching too much Monty Python? Have you told anyone else about this? Maybe we should call Tony Blair and tell him so he can stop this.

Figleaf has been proven once again to be the only one on these posts who understands what is really going on in this world. After all on March 24, 2007, ( no doubt after conferring with Figleaf) a spokesman for Iran’s military stated the Brits confessed after being questioned. So there you have it, its settled and once again Figleaf got to the bottom of it before anyone else. Now for those of us mistaken idiots who insist on writing in posts trying to cloud the issue the jig is up. So if I told you in June of 2004, the Iranians detained 8 British servicemen for three days for the exact same allegation ignore me. don't believe me if I say int hat incident they had been paraded blindfolded and forced to apologize on Iranian t.v. before they were released. I am absolutely wrong to suggest that this latest incident is simply designed to grand-stand and try put pressure on the US to release 5 Iranian revolutionary guard they arrested in Iraq. Figleaf is right. The Iranians have proven their case! They have their confessions! Now for those of us who want to consider information, the dispute between Britain and Iran over the Shatt Al-Arab waterway running along the Iran and Iraq border is on-going. This latest incident is not isolated. Back in June of 2004, the British were detained as they delivered a patrol boat to the Iraqi Riverline Patrol Service. The Iranians call the Shat al-Arab waterway the Arvand River and believe it is their waterway. During the 2004 incident, independent neutral third parties proved that Iran fabricated the incident and Britain had never entered Iranian waters. Gosh. Imagine that. For those of us who read we appreciate Iran has been in a dispute with Britain over the islands in the Lower Arabian-Persian Gulf and in particular, Abu Musa, Tunb and Lesser Tunb. This dates back to a dispute between the old Persian Empire and the then Ottoman Empire (Turks). It dates back to the 16th century. In 1935, the then Shah of Iran renamed the country Iran (he ruled from 1921-1941) then the British pressured him to abdicate and replaced him with his son the last Shah of Iran who was then removed in 1979 by the Ayatollah Kolmeini who came back from exile. (the original Shah was a friend of Hitler which pissed the British off and led to his forced abdication)

"Perhaps your 21 year old brother should've thought twice before he signed away his life in exchange for the benefits that army provides." Hey Moderate I can understand your anger but listen-most of us kow that was a ridiculous cheap shot and a deliberate insult-please understand that. Teh vast majority of us bloody well appreciate your brother and all other soldiers putting their lives on the line. This person has made the classic mistake of mixing up his political opinions with the lives of soldiers and what their role is. Soldiers are not politicians. You have a beef, take it up with the politicians not the soldiers who put their lives on the line. Anyways Mod, I for one thank your brother for doing what he does.

"I could give less than two shits what you believe the land is... " That is precisely the point and why you lack credibility. "In our civilized land called Canada...." yah we get the cheap shot inferring aboriginal peoples are not civilized. Again it makes you very credible. "the provincial government has absolute authority over the land titles system...." No it does not but don't let a little thing like the law get in the way of your opinions. "....and the land does not belong to any Mohawks of Quinte...." Well of course you have made it clear you are not interested in the legitimate legal rights and ownership of these nations, you said it in your first comment...however some of us "civilized" Canadians, i.e., non aboriginals believe the Mohawks and many other nations have legitimate legal claims and we are not interested in making racist slurs against them and want to find a fair way to resolve claims. "If you or the Mohawks disagree, there is a legal process to follow that doesn't involve illegal occupations." Its not an "illegal" occupation. It is an occupation and it is non violent. Aboriginals unlike the British and French don't go around stealing land and trying to convert people to Christianity. They peacefully try bring attention to the violation of their rights. "I'm not married,". That's cool. Some of my best friends are gay. Besides I have been married quite some time. Its not always easy. -
The Flames don't traditionally do well in afternoon games. They had better suck it up today in Chicago. I was a bit surprised that they did as well as they did last week. I expected that they would be tied with Colorado right now. The Flames had a four point lead and had games with the top two teams in the conference while the Avalanche had a pair in Edmonton. I didn't think they would be able to pad their lead, but they moved ahead another point. This is exactly what I would expect a CIA agent planting dissinformation to say. You fool no one you imperialist agent of colonialism. p.s. most teams suck in pm games after a night game-it screws up their clock they are used to playin nights and getting at least the next day to sleep in and nurse wounds (ice them, get massages, stretch). The pm games disrupts their routine and many of these guys are dehydrated and don't have sufficient time to eat and drink water and replentish the electrolytes-not an excuse though but most teams hate it not just the Flames

Well I noticed the state of Iran has advised us all as of yesterday that those British navy personnel have confessed to illegally entering Iranian waters. Yes Figleaf was right. Gosh Figleaf you are right again! Your intelligence and infight never ceases to amaze me. Of course my own version is based on my own evil Zionist lie. Polynewby and Figgy have already exposed this conspiracy and I will never be the same again but just for fun let me be confused and wrong and state the following Zionist lies; i-the British troops were in Iraqi waters enforcing a UN resolution when they were forced at gun point by Iranian Revolutionary Guard into custody ii-these personnel were on HMS Cornwall, the flagship of the coalition-Iraqi force which is pursuing a UN Resolution mandate to patrol Iraqi territorial waters in the northern Gulf to combat smuggling iii-the British personnel, had just finished searching a merchant ship iv-Iran has been providing weapons and financial aid to local militia in Southern Iraq to assist them in attacking British forces in Southern Iraq v-the British were doing what they were supposed to do- inspect the merchant ship to see if it was smuggling weapons to be used by terrorist militias vi-the British personnel were in two inflatable boats when they were intercepted by Iranian vessels at gunpoint in Iraqi waters vii-this was a routine search in Iraqi waters and no different then the mission of Canadian and US and other NATO naval vessels who also patrol these waters to enfore the UN resolution Other then Figleaf and Polynewby the rest of the world is wrong and confused about this. The Iranians are not angry at the Americans for arresting Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Iraq. The Iranians are not upset British intelligence and their SAS unit were able in the past to intercept previous gun smuggling operations from Iran into Southern Iraq along the coastal waters. Iran is not inciting Shiite terrorists in Southern Iraq. Iran is not trying to blackmail Britain at a time when they are feeling pressured about sanctions because of their nuclear activities. The Iranians are not trying to retaliate against the US for arresting Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Iraq. The Iranians are not interested in Southern Iraq and sabatoging the oil fields in Southern Iraq. The Iranian government is a peaceloving misunderstood victimized innocent regime. Iran is not suffering an economic meltdown and does not need to create political events to sidetrack its people from the internal collapse of its economy. No its the fault of the British. Figleaf is right. He is always right. The British are evil and the Iranians were just trying to defend themselves from those evil British sob's who should sail back to Plymouth and mind their own business. Figleaf and Polyinsaturatedfatsnewby are right. It's the fault of the US involved in a conspiracy to destroy Iran and take over the world. I admit it. Figleaf and Polynewby have exposed the truth. It was me and my Zionist friends who took over the media, Hollywood and the banks and so are now able to control the US and British militaries and force them to do this in our effort to conquer the world and make everyone give up pork and feel guilty for no reason and eat lots of chicken soup and donate to Jewish senior citizen homes in Miami and New York. There. I have confessed.

What did he say that could be interpreted as anti-semitic? There are some references that could be interpreted to be critical not of Israeli policies, but concepts as to Judaism as a religion. Certainly his criticism of Israel is not anti-semitic. Certain passages that could be construed as criticizing Judaism as a religion might be although I do not believe that was his intention. I think what we see in the book is Jimmy Carter being uncharacteristically angry and bias after years of making it a point of not taking sides. Some say the reason for this sudden change is a feeling he was ignored by Bill Clinton and made to feel stupid by Bill Clinton and that this is really a pissing match with Bill Clinton over how both these democrats perceived their roles. Clinton was highly criticial of Carter's role in the Middle East and felt it fueled Palestinian intransigence. Suprisingly in his lecture circuit these days Clinton's take on the Middle East is not that different from Ronald Reagan's or Gerald Ford's. No I would not call Carter an anti-semite for being bias against Israel in his book. He's entitled to his opinions. The problem is much of what he said is in direct contradiction to what he previously said in papers, speeches and in interviews. I think he let his anger with Bill Clinton side track-him from his usual role as a mediator to that of a someone trying to rationalize his different approach to the PLO then Reagan, Ford and Clinton. Interestingly its the present George Bush and Carter who have been the only two US Presidents to really deviate from what has otherwise been pretty much a doctrine they inherited from Eisenhower and have for the most part followed, democrat or republican.
-
It might be new to you but not to some of us who have lived in the Middle East and witnessed it. I saw kids as young as 5 and 6 being used as decoys back in the early 70's in Gaza. Not just children, preganant women, the disabled, the elderly, mentally ill in the name of Islam. Only this time, they can't blame Israel for the behaviour. Or will they.

Then present it to the Court and stop breaking the law in the meantime. They are and they haven't broken any laws. By the way since you are telling them to present their cases in court, why don't you read some of them and try understand the law and that previous case decisions established, before you accuse them of breaking laws. Why don't you find out what laws the federal and provincial government have broken before you accuse aboriginals of breaking the law. You clearly have no clue because you have already made up your mind like the other poster trying to do his John Wayne imitation that you have no clue and are simply now reverting back to the lazy ungrateful law breaking dirty drunk indian stereotype. Its tiresome. Its tiresome because people like you and John Wayne can't seem to exist without a scapegoat to hate. -
So you want to quote Mr. Dugard? You have any idea what this man has actuall said and who hired him and what his mandate is or do you simply refer to him because he spews out what you want to hear? This so called expert ( a Southg African lawyer who has openly made it clear he does not believe there should be an Israeli state) was chosen precisely because he does not believe in the existence of the State of Israel. That is why he was chosen not because he is an expert. He is no expert. There are millions of lawyers on this planet the UN Commission on Human Rights could have chosen but they went deliberately out of their way to appoint someone with pronounced hatred and bias against the existence of the State of Israel. The mandate given to him by the UN Commission on Human Rights excludes ANY consideration of violations of international law or human rights by Palestinians. This is precisely why the UN Commission on Human Rights has no credibility. It makes no effort to remain neutral let alone examine both sides of the human rights conflict. What makes it even more of a joke is that this commission is dominated by human rights violating nations who will not allow themselves to be examined and who all have committed far worse human rights violations then Israel but who feel they can hire a shrill to attack Israel but ignore their own countries' records or the record of Hamas, the PLO, Hezbollah, and all Arab countries of the Middle East. Before you quote this hand-picked shrill because he spews out the usual Israel bad, Palestine good simplistic mantra, understand he has not provided a shred of proof for his comments. Instead he has simply published subjective remarks with absolutely no evidence to back up what he has said. This so called expert simply publishes subjective remarks such as: "Words cannot convey the hardships to which Palestinians are subjected in the interests of the Judaization of Jerusalem." “consideration should be given to the establishment of a binational State." “They (check-points) are the primary cause of poverty and economic depression in the West Bank.” "Palestinian women are...subjected to sexual violence by both soldiers and settlers." "the UN Security Council and the United Nations as a participant in the Quartet are engaged in a strategy of political appeasement, in which respect for human rights, international humanitarian law and the rule of law have less importance." The above are just some examples of his subjective remarks which present no expert evidence what-so-ever. Make no mistake the above comments are simply subjective opinions and its precisely this kind of rhetoric that will NEVER aid in any peaceful resolution. This is a man who believes Israel should be ended and a "bi-national" state be created. Of course we can just skip the fact that in this bi-national state, Muslims would not demand the government and Islam be the same and the Muslims would not insist on enforcing dhimmitude and a Muslim society. Yes Muslims and Jews will live together in a bi-national state because hey-there is so much history throughout the Muslim world of how Muslims love and tolerate non Muslims let alone each other. Yah and while I am at it Jews run wild in Jersusalem trying to turn Muslims into Jews and force everyone to join them in their world wide conspiracy to take over the world. First it was the banks and Hollywood and the press, now Jerusalem, tomorrow the universe!!! Yes blame the check-points for Palestine's economic problems not the fact that the PLO for the last twenty years stole all the foreign aid and deposited it in French and SZwiss bank accounts. Never mind Hamas destroyed its own roads, green-houses, and businesses and threatens anyone with death if they go to Israel to work-no no, its the fault of those Jews in Israel. Then let us not forget. When those Jews in Israel are not running around Jerusalem "Judaizing" it, they are raping Palestinian women. If this man's idiotic comments were not so blatantly bias they would be absurd but when this so called expert accused Israeli soldiers and civilians of raping Palestinian women and then was asked to provide evidence for such comments, he said he had none. When then asked why he would make such a comment he ran away from the press. This is what you refer to as an expert. Excuse me while I go puke. Come back when you can quote someone who actually has tried to analyze both sides of the conflict and remain neutral and offer constructive suggestions. If you want to engage in the usual Israel bad, Palestine good mantra join Higgly and Figleaf and the rest of them for a drink in their hotel room and get cozy but spare me.
