That has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever read. One only needs to make the argument of how many MILLIONS of people Stalin killed and it's villian for him. The capitalists won the cold war and a good thing they did. I quite enjoy my freedom and being able to keep the money I worked hard for. Under the Soviets the agriculture industry was abysmal. Why would a commie farmer who earns a shit wage work his ass off for nothing when a farmer with his own land can work his ass off and gets paid more for it. This attitude is what lost the Soviets the cold war. Those people in Poland were sure as hell happy to get rid of the commies, they're able to go to church for the first time in 40 years and not get shot over it.

Pardon the pun, but why not throw gas on this fire? a tax break to a business is not a waste of money, the revenue generated and the boost to the economy offsets the costs. Quebec needs to get its economy in order. It is a huge deadweight, why would you want this to continue? Taxing the crap out of businesses is a poor way of doing things. Must I bring up Ireland again? Why are the Liberals content with mediocrity?

What's wrong with the cops wearing masks? Aren't they allowed to protect themselves from potential debris and protect their individual anonymity from retaliation from organized crime. They already have the warrant (in other cases), and the case has to go to court anyway where officers present are under oath.

Why wouldn't the feds just do what they did with the grain industry, give tax breaks to ethanol companies and burn all of that excess wood. Wood is dirt cheap right now and oil is still pricy. It creates jobs and gets a return. This would work well in the forestry sector as there is few inputs to take away from the returns. So some trees get ground into sawdust, who cares?

I think the beauty of the show is that there is no huge prize to squable over, just a completely odd situation and cameras rolling to see what happens. So far it looks like a pretty fun time for both the guys and girls.

If the announce at the wrong house, the owner would walk out and could get tossed around like a rag doll as well and get zip tied up, they can never be too safe. The Comissioner of the RCMP apologized to the family of the polish individual who got tasered. To get an apology even though they had a defensible position (how good it the position is, is up for debate) from an organization as proud as them is remarkable. If you have nothing to hide if you are the wrong house, the worst is you get dragged to the station get to explain yourself and are free to go on your merry way to the press with an interesting story. In my opinion it is far better off to go crashing into a house unannounced and seriously inconvenience somebody than to give someone the chance to shoot a cop who is doing his duty. With the intense scrutiny police officers endure in the media nowadays, the odds of them accidently shooting an innocent person in these circumstances is very very small. Those ERT guys are very good at what they do. But if it was me, I'd just lay seige to the house and wait the guy out. If it's the wrong house it would be found out pretty quick.

In Manitoba, it's more like Winnipeg that is left wing. IMO Winnipeg should be the Capital of Northwest Ontario than Manitoba. There is a huge split of rural and urban voters in MB.

Would it be possible for another right wing party to shake things up in Alberta? Would it be a good thing for the province? I know Sask had to form a new right wing party, would Alberta put up another right wing party if the province is going to pot as some would say? There's two left wing party's there, why not two right wing partys?

Hmm, I seen on MDL the support for mission was 50% support and 46% opposed. I personally believe that the time to debate over a mission is right at the start before the gov't commits to it, but after the troops are sent, they should be supported so they get the job done, done fast, and done right so they get home all the faster. Personally at the start I thought the only course of action taken should have been a couple strategically dropped bombs at the right time to chop the head off the snake and let the Afghans decide their country, but since the troops were ordered in there, they should do their job.

I think they have that law in order to try and prevent people from doing seedy business in that regard such as looting corpses and forcing poor people to give organs. I also think that law is in place so bums on the street aren't mutilating themselves/others in order to get a square meal. IMO having to sell a kidney to pay rent/food is very unethical.

Yes and the TV networks CHOSE to show her, the directors editors and producers CHOSE what scenes to put in the show, inciting the community and your choosing to take shots at her. So let me get this straight, In another thread about calling out some radical christian mother it is alright for the media to embarass her on national TV, and to take shots at them and there are some posters who are not only defending this but encouraging this. And these same posters when someone takes shots at muslims will turn around on a dime and say that we can't be taking shots at people because it is wrong hurtful and why would we want to piss off somebody? Holy hypocrisy Batman I think anybody should be able to give and receive shots equally.

Is that per person or saving the system money as a whole. If eating like that I think you'd have a ratio of X amt. of unhealthy people to 1 healthy person, that cost would add up too.

I personally think that this show should be shown in the U.S. If nothing too over the top happens and it doesn't turn into a cheap gong show, it could be seen as an inspiration to the states that just because you are on TV that doesn't mean you have to be a clown.

I have it different. Two high schools, one public one private. Funding isn't determined by school population but by revenue generated by taxes. Before the neighboring school division amalgamated, the one in my town was bringing in a lot of tax revenue by the tax generated on farmland and with the student pop. decreasing year by year, the students were getting a lot more money per capita spent on them. The private school didn't do so well as it needed tuition from the private sector to function and it eventually had to close due to low numbers. The public school was doing so well that it could afford a good CPU lab and school buses for varsity sports trips. The public school kids were getting a better education because of the higher tax revenue and lower pop. and nobody minded paying the taxes because of the good education the kids got.

The State should not subsidize private schools, only the run of the mill public schools, anything else you pay for. That is more than fair, we cannot have our cake and eat it too. I know you subsidize everything in Quebec, it is also one of the most financially strapped regions on the continent. As for choice you keep referring to, how about the healthcare system? I can do the regular thing or I can choose to pay and get my medical stuff done faster. I'm not saying taking the choice away entirely, but if the status quo isn't good enough for you, it's up to you to pay for other options, not the taxpayers. What you are suggesting for the schools would be like the poor of Canada subsidizing private clinics they will never be able to afford to use, which IMO is lunacy. (Also lunacy is being forced to take gov't healthcare) We do not give our ten grand to parents. I don't know of any parent receiving that cheque. That money goes straight to the public school system to fund a standard education for Canadian society. If you want something else, it comes out of your pocket. I suggest if we are talking about the daycare thing, hand out a 10 grand cheque and let the parents educate their kid however they want, it could help out with tuition for a classy school in B.C., a public school in MB, an Afro school in toronto, home school, or beer and popcorn - just like the daycare you keep bringing up. Some people would love a 10 grand check every year to decide what to do with their child's education. I believe we do have a daycare system in Canada, it's called the 400 dollars a month Conservative plan. My taxes go to paying for this system. It is the standard system in Canada for taking care of kids (all be it a libertarian system)

I personally think hell froze over. A Canadian channel has produced IMO a first rate reality show. So far I haven't seen any over the top behavior, and I want to watch the show to see what happens next. It's also refreshing to see a show where people are civilized and are not acting like buffoons. CBC has moved up a notch in my book, up to notch one. Looks like I'm eating crow for a little while.

Your comparing apples and oranges. I have beat it to death that we have a standard childcare program and a standard education program. Want more then PAY FOR IT. If you wanted to make a fair comparison then give the parents a check for say 10 grand or however much it is to educate in the public school system and let them decide how to school their children. Some might squandor it, some might spend it wisely. Hmm. this isn't a bad idea, a grade 12 diploma might have merit again... But we don't do that in Canada, so a standard must be maintained, if you want more there is nothing stopping you from getting it except for your financial ability. You are suggesting we have our cake and eat it too. That doctor argument doesn't hold water, where I live my taxes go to doctor pay and I have to see the guy here, if I want someone else I have to hop in the old truck and travel an hour to see someone else. I want more, I pay.
