  1. Of all the primaries candidates Romney has been the one whose proposal for tax-rates has been the highest and yet he stil won comfortably. However, his proposal for tax-rates is below that of Obama and he is trailing Obama in the polls. The conclusion? The American voters also do realise that things don't somehow magically work out by themselves. There needs to be taxes. A society of minimum taxation is a society of the survival of the fittest.
  2. Rob Portman is the name I've heard is the favourite to be his running-mate. A senator from Ohio.
  3. Breivik used to belong to the right-wing Progress-Party, the country's second largest party, which is known for its anti-immigration views but he quit the party because he thought it was far too moderate.
  4. Even though Sarkozy is a loud-mouthed brat I think Hollande winning would plunge the EU into even a deeper crisis as he has promised to open the stability-pact and that would lead to a new series of endless arguments.
  5. People who take abundant water-supplies for granted often don't realize what a political tool the control of water can be. In the case of the UK their problem is that their country is so overcrowded. Some people react to that by saying that there should be no more immigration to burden the infrastructure which is teetering at the brink as it is but that is evading the fact that the British have overpopulated their island all by themselves in the first place.
  6. He will indeed be confined in a maximum security prison where there are few other inmates.
  7. Some people say the euro was designed to fail from the outset. It was foolish in the first place to make believe that there can be an economic union going as far as there being a single currency but there not being a political union going as far. Some people relied on this and are now advocating more and more powers to the EU-level to interfere. In other words, in their opinion, the reasons for the economic woes was not too much EU but too little EU.
  8. A couple of links to the op: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2103809/UK-drought-2012-Water-companies-say-mustnt-spend-FOUR-minutes-shower.html http://news.sky.com/home/uk-news/article/16197655
  9. I was referring to the UK. They really have a shortage of water. They do have a reputation that they don't bathe too much. Hence the Australian metaphor "Dry as a Pom's towel" the Pom referring to an Englishman.
  10. I have just learned about the news that the UK has had drought of a century and its ground-water levels are at the lowest to be seen in a long time. The image of the UK as a rainy country wouldn't really support such a view but that indeed is a rwality in that country that they may even start rationing water. A very frightening thought as we in Finland are awashed with water but members of the EU, when are we gonna be demanded to hand our water to help those overpopulated countries. What is the situation in Canada? In your country also about 10% of your area is water and speaking of the area of your country, 10% being water is a lot of water indeed. However, on very hot, dry summers do you ever hear any suggestions about that washing your car using fresh water is perhaps not a very good idea?
  11. The main-gripe about immigration is the perceived unwillingness of the incomers to adapt to the laws and customs of the land they have moved into. Nothing really to do with race or religion even though members of a certain religion show special stubbornness in this context.
  12. I think parents are allowed to home-school their children provided by that they are qualified and informative enough on quite a large number of subjects. Depends on the age of the children too.
  13. There is a correlation between birth-rates and education. Many immigrants from third world countries have a far lower birth-rate than in their original countries.
  14. I must say that I have never heard of any stories about Canada having preferred whites only when it came to immigration. Australia is notorious in that respect as they followed such policies right up until the 1970's.
  15. I think all Indo-European languages have different words for the third person singular depending whether we're talking about males or females. Non Indo-European languages such as Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian and Turkish have only one word for the third person.
  16. Interesting points brought in this thread. Such a shame that the thread was started by an obvious WUM and therefore gets treated as such. Despite that there are some points we should consider.
  17. Thank you very much. You just gave an accurate explanation as to what the density of population is where you live. When you gave the European comparison, in this case Denmark, I really understand what you're saying. As for the subject, you feel no need for the wolves to be culled if they make visits to people's farms? It was just a day or two ago in the news that in many parts of the US they have resumed to killing of wolves as the wolf-population has risen and propably there is not enough food in the nature to feed the whole wolf-population, therefore the wolves become very aggressive and invade people's farms.
  18. I think it speaks volumes that those states which endorse "abstinence-only"-policies have the highest teenage pregancy-rates.
  19. Thank you for a very nice answer you just gave to me! However, it can't help escape my mind that you must be a city-person, aren't you? If you lived in the countryside you most certainly wouldn't have written the stuff you just wrote.
  20. The guy clearly thinks he on a mission. As far as his miision is only about posting tripe on an internet-site no-one gets hurt.
  21. Tennessee has a sexual-education which advices youngsters to total abstinence before marriage. It has mentioned a number of things which can lead to sexual activity and therefore those things are unacceptable. Now they have added holding hands to the list of those things. http://thinkprogress.org/health/2012/04/13/463317/tennessee-anti-hand-holding/?mobile=nc
  22. Yes, we have understood it that you just admire the jews.
  23. There are estimated 60,000 wolves in Canada. However, as about 99% of Canada is either completely uninhabited or very sparsely populated by human beings there is a lot of room to roam for the wolves. Or is it common in canada that wolves would attack people's farms and kill domestic animals? There have been news recently in the US that in some parts of the country the wolf-population has increased and has led to conflicts and the authorities have resumed to shooting and poisoning of the wolves.
