You forgot to mention that it is also full of half truths and lies. The article fails to mention that there are many Muslim sects just like there are many Christian sects. I would hate to be judged by the actions and values of Christian fundamentalists just as amny of my Islamic friends would like to be judged on the behaviour and morals of their fellow Muslims. Read more international news and research the topic before you make sweeping statements and become close minded and totally biased.

It is time for calmer heads to prevail and not for knee jerk reactions. I never thought that I would say this but I think it's time for Toronto to start using closed circuit cameras on their streets. When I was in England the last time I was comfortable with hte number of cameras they have, mind you they are well marked so you know that they are there. I think they are a good deterant.

Great post. Also may I remind all of you reactionaries that the law concering the right of 14 yr olds to have sex is nothing NEW. It is only in the past couple of generations that people have started to get married at a later age. Methinks many of you have been looking at isolated cases and treating them as everyday occurrences, thus becoming a victim of the media. Look at the actual occurrences of the crimes you mention then think about it. It is FAR more dangerous for your kids to ride in a car but do you think twice about driving them somewhere? The CPC certainly does NOT reflect my family values. I am not prepared to have yet Another debate about same sex marriage, abortion or any of the issues where Canada has entered into the 21 century.

I suggest you donate some of your time and work in one of those places for a month or so and you will see that the safety net has eroded. leaving many people at risk. Many of the people we have as clients are incapable of working at even the most menial jobs. You forgot to include those with mental and physical afflictions. Also those who are single parents who can't afford daycare for their children as there are too few places for them. The safety net, often doesn't cover basic monthly expenses. Some of our clients spend over 90% of their income on housing which leaves VERY little for necessities. Example, one woman pays $450.00 in rent which leaves her less than $100.00 for her other expenses. Last time I checked there is no way that you can survive on that little and have any quality of life. There are very few geared to income dwellings so those who are childless are stuck finding accomodation on the free market. With winter coming I am doing my usual scrambling to get donations of used warm clothing for our clients. #3 The reference to Mikey's father shows the irony of the situation. He didn't want his father to have to put up with pressure when he was ill unlike the ordinary dying patients in this province. As said so eliquently by a former poster, when Mikey cut funding for hospitals the nursing staff suffered from massive cuts. Those who are still working as nurses spend a lot of their time with paper work and not enough time doing that for which they were really trained. When sophisticated and expensive diagnostic equipment enters the market many hospitals can't afford to purchase it or enough of it so waiting lists grow longer. This is not the time to cut hospital budgets. I could go on but I'm sure you will come back with some rhetoric that will blame the victim as opposed to the perpitrator.

This has NOTHING to do with where I stand politically but it has to do with the performance of the political parties. I can't really see Canada allowing Ex Reform Party head to become Prime Minister.

After reading this thread and having my posts ignored I have finally realised that Canadians are Xenophobic. Very few of you realise that the vast majority of immigrants are very well educated but are not given a chance because we are viewd as being unworthy of joining your clique. No wonder I don't choose to become a citizen. You are all imigrants unless you are a native so get over it!

Creationism is not a useful scientific theory since it teaches us nothing about how the world works or why it is the way it is. That is why it does not belong in science class. Then out of the blue you realise that none have the answer and that life is a mystery and you realise that ID has its merits.

What on earth is wrong with teaching both theories? If ID is so wrong then there is nothing to fear by presenting it. Couldn't there be ID behind evolution? Some of us don't see God, or a creator in terms of some big honcho in the sky. I see us as a bunch of sea monkeys in a cosmic jar created in the imagination of some intergalactic space worm.
