  1. By golly gee! If that's the case water vapour cannot be ignored since the earth's surface is directly affected by sun. And if acting as an amplifier only compounds its actions as a thermal insulator which is the primary cause of global warming.
  2. On that issue, why are they also just as quiet on SPP.Gov and the North American Union? If this was such a good thing for the US, then all the talking heads would be saying something about it. But you hear little to none of it on MSM. On CNN I had seen a piece with Lou Dobbs essentialy with a look on his face of bewilderment of why this is not a bigger story than it is. Also this... Your initial post for this thread did not have ANY links at all. You are as guilty of this as her, right here and now. Care to dispute that? And for all we know the European Union is hated by the populations of the member states involved. Never see that either in western MSM either. SPP.Gov and the North American Union is not talked about it, because nobody wants it. Canada and the U.S. would prefer to keep their sovereignty. I just seen this lately but I don't have a link and that is why I didn't include it as part of this topic. BTW- In my opening post on this subject I provided some numbers which should have been adequate. But here is the link if your interested: http://ec.europa.eu/trade/issues/bilateral...da/index_en.htm
  3. So if they had this plan to go in, and these were the real reasons, why did they tout the WMD line for so long??? Simply lying and passing the buck, and confusing everyone. Also that list seems to have been in reverse order Securing the oil feilds was the first item on the agenda. Funny how they stopped looking for the slam dunk wmd materials, north, south, east , west somewhat of Bahgdad. Just more smoke and mirrors. Can you PROVE WMD (chemical type) are not buried somewhere out in the desert or destroyed before the inspectors got in??? Are you not glad Iraq's are free to-day even though they are fighting among themselves induced by greed. Are you denying any form of collusion by Islamic countries is possible, concerning terrorism and the clash of civilizations?
  4. Canada has tons of oil and how can you say "Canada is doing that exact thing, we are totally depleting our own oil reserves, and not saving any for our own requirements" as we are no where near any sort of danger point concerning elimination of our oil supply. The oil we import is a higher grade oil. Other countries have indeed acquired nuclear facilities, but none have publicly announced their intention to obliterate another country, such as what Iran has done. I guess you also think that the world is not as fortunate to have a 'world order', enforced by an allegiance of free countries and assume the world would function perfectly well, without this protection.
  5. As usual Drea, you neglect to back up your unproven statements with fact, links or anything else. Since 1976 trade and economic cooperation between the EU and Canada is currently based on the 1976 Framework Agreement for Commercial and Economic Cooperation. So we have been pursuing serious trade with Europe for some time. Canada holds a steady place among the EU’s top 10 trading partners, holding 9th place in 2005 with 1.8% of the EU’s external trade. The EU accounted for over 12% of Canada’s imports in 2005, and for slightly above 5% of its exports. Conversely, Canada accounted for 1.5% of EU imports in 2005 and 2.2% of its exports. These are a poor results concerning a European population base of 494-million people. http://www.conferenceboard.ca/press/2006/C...elationship.asp
  6. Europe traditionally has little interest in Canada or it would reflect in our trade figures, which it does not.
  7. STV is a variation of proportional representation. What I would like to see is a 'majoritarian system'. FPTP is being abused as we do not get MP representation but the 'rather party line' . This would end regional divisiveness that is currently wrecking the country. http://www.citizensassembly.bc.ca/public/l..._0312231538-743
  8. What is the MSM? Why is a United States of Europe a danger to 'western interest'? I would like to see the EU be more a player in the world for stability. A stronger EU would mean a more tempered US, and possibly Russia and China. MSM=mainstream media. If you are living in the West especially Canada and considering what you are saying, could relate to a lower standard of living and lost jobs, if that means anything to you.
  9. Developing a nuclear bomb is a moral thing to do ahead of a tattered economy? There is nothing moral about what Iran is doing or considering it a legal right is a matter of opinion. They are presenting an invitation to catrostrophic conditions upon themselves.
  10. These days you hear everything else as a threat to Western interest but hardly a word about the devastating effects to Western interest by the European Union. The European Union comprises of 27 countries, 493 million people and has a GDP of $14.2-trillion U.S. (PPP). This is more than the GDP of the U.S. which currently stands at $12.98-trillion (PPP) This is comparable to a coup against the West. Why is MSM and government for that matter, so silent on this issue?
  11. And I love the EXCUSE it gives: "Iran sits on the world's second biggest oil and gas reserves, but says it wants to build a network of nuclear power plants to prepare for the day when its energy supplies run out and to ensure it maximises energy exports in the meantime." Give me a break! As if a country would TOTALLY DEPLETE its own oil reserves without saving any for its own requirements. http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200702/s1850738.htm
  12. I imagine it will come where all money comes from. Taxes. If you're asking where money will be saved elsewhere, that's a different subject. Hydro-electric projects alone in Brazil would do the trick. If the government wants to invest the $10 billion in Canada, I'd suggest high power transmission lines between Quebec and Ontario and Ontario and Manitoba. "Hydro-electric projects alone in Brazil would do the trick." Improving other countries economies when we are so debt ridden that we can't even build and supply enough hydro for provinces like Ontario without putting taxes through the roof, sure. You mean you would actually trust Quebec with the generation and distribution of hydro electricity to feed Canada's most populous and important key province? This of course is not meant to downplay any other province in the ROC.
  13. Iraq was invaded as a 'war against terrorism' as well it was part of the U.S 1998 'Iraq Liberation Act'. " In 1998, with the passage of the 1998 Iraq Liberation Act (P.L. 105-338), it became official United States policy to work for the overthrow of Saddam's regime. The act stated: "It should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime." The act was unanimously approved by the Senate with the strong support of the Clinton administration." Other reasons were: "To that end, the stated goals of the invasion, according to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, were: Self-defense find and eliminate weapons of mass destruction, weapons programs, and terrorists collect intelligence on networks of weapons of mass destruction and terrorists Humanitarian end sanctions and deliver humanitarian support (According to Madeleine Albright, half a million Iraqi children had died because of sanctions.) United Nations Security Council Resolution Resolution 1205, made in 1998. Regime Change end the Saddam Hussein government help Iraq's transition to democratic self-rule Economic secure Iraq's oil fields and other resources" Of course you can argue the fact WMD were never found and we are talking chemical and not nuclear in which the Iraq's had plenty of time to destroy or hide them in thousands of square miles of desert before the inspectors arrived. The al Quaeda connection was never proven but this was: "Aside from the contentious allegations of Iraq's relationship with al Qaeda, the former government did have relationships with other militant organizations in the Middle East including Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. It is known that some $10–15M total was paid to the families of suicide bombers, presented as compensation for the demolition of their homes in Israeli collective punishment operations." *Excerpts from Wikipedia*
  14. They can't, if they did they would be accused of being too brutal etc. etc. same with Afghanistan. We value life a lot more than the terrorists we are fighting, and they know it. In order to win IMO, we would have to get down to their level by bombing and killing as many people as possible with no compunction. Iran's economic status is slowly being dragged down by toughened UN sanctions and it knows the U.S. is serious concerning sabre rattling (aircraft carrier battle groups in the Persian gulf) over Iran's nuclear program arising from threats of Israeli bombing. Also there is the new anti-Iranian alliance concerning Iran's threatened hegemony. It will just be a matter of time that this country will realize it is not the country it thinks it is.
  15. They can't, if they did they would be accused of being too brutal etc. etc. same with Afghanistan. We value life a lot more than the terrorists we are fighting, and they know it. In order to win IMO, we would have to get down to their level by bombing and killing as many people as possible with no compunction. Oh could you please prove, that "we" value life a lot more than alleged terrorists do. The truth is the USA and their unholy coalition, has bombed and killed many many more than the alleged terrorists have with NO compunction. Obviously, your intellectual comprehension that dictates the difference between 'good vs. evil' is nonexistent. Besides Saddam could have avoided unnecessary bloodshed at the beginning, but declined.
  16. Then you weren't paying very close attention then either. They said it would be a "slam-dunk." Rumsfeld said "It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months." The invasion of Iraq was completed well within Rumsfeld estimates. (a) The invasion started March 20, 2003 with coalition forces consisting of 40 countries. ( Baghdad fell on April 9, 2003. © President bush declared an end to major combat operations May 1, 2003. (d) The invasion was successful and lasted a grand total of 42 days. Rumsfeld had nothing to do concerning a failure of peace initiatives.
  17. Remember metric conversion implemented in 1970, resulting in throwing out the window the 'British Imperial system' because, so they said, because of pressures of technology and the market place. Funny thing though, our largest most significant trading partner never went metric, so why did we? As far as I am concerned the reason was primarily to get the British name out of measuring system, like our flag and to pander to the European system. Now primarily the Liberals have taken sides with Europe's sentimental attachment to Kyoto another nail in the coffin to disagree with the U.S. Differences between the E.U. and the U.S. include those over Iraq, Palestine, Iran, ballistic missile defense, the international criminal court, genetically modified crops, the Kyoto accords, farm support, China, Taiwan, Cuba, the death penalty, as well as a whole raft of trade issues. While it is possible to name individual European political leaders who genuinely like and admire America, it is difficult to think of a single major issue on which the U.S. and the E.U. hold identical views. IMO the Liberals are endangering our relationship with the U.S. more everyday by patronizing European ideologies. The E.U. currently has a population of 484 million, much larger than the U.S. and Canada combined. Canada's primary business is here in the WESTERN WORLD, NOT EUROPE. Our political allegiance should remain here in the West and presently this alliance is further being dismantled by Mr. Dion and company.
  18. WTF?This is a public forum. Anyone with access to the Internet can read any comment written here. It's like worrying about your privacy while running down a main street stark naked. Don't be a ding! The question was concerning Google.com having member status but was not registered as a member. BTW- I PERSONALLY have NO FEAR concerning a potential or direct threat concerning personal privacy as I SURF NAKED, got nothing to hide. My computer is bare bones.
  19. Black Dog You are defending terrorism and terrorist. I only wish the U.S. and allies would take off the gloves and really get down to business.
  20. Want to laugh: ------------------------------------------------------------ "M. Dion couldn't possibly believe that this emission credit scheme is good for Canadians. If he did, he would have taken some concrete steps to implement it during his tenure as environment minister. This has a lot more to do with getting back into power than it does with saving the world." "The fact that during his tutelage as environment minister under the corrupt Chretien government Canada actually increased its output of so-called greenhouse gases by 30%, while the Americans, the Liberals' favorite whipping boy, substantially reduced their output during the same time frame, is conveniently unmentioned." http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/klaus021307.htm ----------------------------------------------------------------- I believe it when this article states, Canada is one of the few places on earth where politicians actually campaign on a platform that promises to INCREASE TAXES.
  21. And this occurance was completely foreseeable. Yet the people planning this operation seemed to have had no clue about Iraq's internal dynamics, nor had they ever heard of Murphy's Law.They thought it would be a cakewalk. They were wrong then, so why should we belive them now when they say the same thing abouy Iran? I don't think anyone suggested Iraq would be a cakewalk. But the problems in Iraq are not solely Iraq invented, but in partial are planned problamatic scenario's induced by outside sources. i.e., Iran for instance. IOW, could this not be a gang up on the U.S. involving all Arab nations? But why your concern about Iran and 'weapons of mass destruction'? Why not side for common sense once in a while and acknowledge, Iran with nuclear arms would be a threat to world peace and should not be allowed to harbour these weapons of mass destruction, under any circumstances.
  22. http://edition.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/02/15...q.ap/index.html It is quite possible President Bush does not need anybody's support, but this is also controversial. "UPDATE II: As JAO notes in Comments, the War Powers Act of 1973 -- enacted over the veto of Richard Nixon -- requires the President to obtain authorization from Congress if military forces are to be deployed for greater than 60 days, which also can be understood to mean that the President is free to deploy the military for up to 60 days without Congressional approval." http://glenngreenwald.blogspot.com/2007/01...ttack-iran.html
  23. So you buy a domestic cars even when they are crappy? Domestically Produced cars are not "Crappy". Many manufacturers produce vehicles in Ontario because of the quality of the labour force and the quality of the finished product. Japanese cars made in Canada are excellent. American Manufacturers often give awards to their Canadian Plants for Productivity and Quality. I work in an industry that supports all the 5 S and 6 Sigma programs, the ISO programs and all other various industrial standards for quality and traceability. You can trace a bad component exactly to the person that made it. People must realize that the domestic Auto Industry encompasses more than the 3 popular North American Manufacturers. Chryslers losses are the result of poor sales world wide. GM sales are the results of cars designed by accountants. (Boring) Ford losses are the result of corporate incompetence. This is the result of maintaining a business structure devised from the Flintstones. Japanese Manufacturers build cars here. People here buy these cars. American and Japanese have many co-operative plants in Canada and worldwide. Do I think people should by domestic vehicles over Korean? Of course it is good to know they were built here. You have to look at the serial #s to know where a car is assembled. A North American Model made in Mexico gives me the frights. Cars made in China are known to have steering wheels fall off. Should the auto industry get into cleaner emitting vehicles? The demand for these kinds of cars will increase in the following decades. People will want newer technology in their vehicles. But for today, if you should ask, do I buy a car made in Canada that is crappy. The answer is no. But how much is marketing and how much is consumer demand, and how much is actually crap? Don't buy crap regardless of its origins. But soon the Corrolla, Lexus and Matrix are going to be made here as well. Regardless of people whom want to rave at Japanese Autos vs American Autos, the fact is, they all are made in Ontario. When I referred to "domestically produced automobiles', I was referring to traditional North American vehicles, the big-three, Ford, Gm and Chrysler and I think that is what jdobbin was making reference to also as "crappy". But I never understood this, as I find Japanese automobiles inferior in many respects, compared to North American vehicles. Maybe jdobbin can explain why he considers Japanese vehicles so superior?
  24. Understand this! The U.S military and allies are currently trying to control sectarian fighting and are responsible for law and order in Iraq. ...[insults deleted]. Well, do help me understand, then. If the major sectarians sects of Iraq are each fighting eachother, and in order to halt this fighting the US is fighting against all the fighting sects, who is the US fighting FOR? The U.S. and allies as an occupying force, are fighting for Iraq's in general to restore order to sectarian violence that stems not only from a difference in sects but economics combined with power and greed. It is like the flood gates of wealth have suddenly been swung opened and they all want it, simple as that!
  25. Understand this! The U.S military and allies are currently trying to control sectarian fighting and are responsible for law and order in Iraq. Iraq's do not know the definition of progress. And it seems neither do you, if you possessed any notion of what encompasses Western interest and the pursuit for world order.
