Canadian's are still doing better than 2015 on the poverty line front; https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quotidien/210323/t003a-eng.htm https://madeinca.ca/poverty-statistics-canada/ Data from the last two censuses and other surveys on poverty in Canada show that the country’s poverty rate has decreased. The overall poverty rate has fallen from 14.5% in 2015 to 8.1% in 2020. However, there are still groups of people who are far more likely to live in poverty or low income so there is more work to be done to address poverty across all groups in Canada. Good thing we had the liberals to get that many people back above the poverty line they were in during Harper's last years. Get back to me on how affordable the unaffordable was back in what you believe were the golden years....

Canada to be China’s 24th province?
LinkSoul60 replied to paxamericana's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What do you mean 'no longer be associated with Canada'. Does that mean you won't use your passport again, stop paying income tax and stop receiving CPP/OAS? -
I'm talking 5 to 8(?) years, not 20. Wish I did know know what the future holds for those sectors but I can't see AI giving healthcare patients personal care, running wiring or plumbing through homes, framing out walls, working in retail stores, etc... Absolutely and not saying the technology isn't there, but when will it be common practice.... that's still a lot of years ahead. Canadian business has been slow to invest in their own capital for the last 20 years so to see a massive investment in AI by the majority is going to be a while, I'd think. Honestly, I don't spend a great deal of time thinking about it anymore. The only time that I might is when I have an interaction with an immigrant, be that in whatever setting. My opinion good or bad would be the same as it is for a white person I have an interaction with. Can't say I've noticed a deterioration of quality, or at least no more than I see across the board anyway. I never said anything about Europe...did I? Toronto (and Vancouver) also has a high immigrant population so that skews data. Not all Canadian cities have as high a percentage so isn't as noticeable to as it is with the higher populations. I get it... you don't like brown immigrants. Now what... who's going to drive that taxi, deliver that DoorDash, and work for other minimum wage jobs?

Sure you did, and the back peddling isn't working kiddo. Affordable my äss.

Sure little guy... just show me the links so we can put this to bed. You can't though, can you... Otherwise, you're irrelevant... both in content and common sense.

So what's stopping you from packing your bags and getting out of dodge? You bîtch about it all day every day so why don't you do yourself a favour and leave. Your red hat will play better in rural America than it does here. -
LMAO... the little Fxx is still tripping over his own two little feet trying to justify his lack of awareness. A common Fxx tactic...

You're referring to your off topic replies yesterday about manufacturing, when the convo I was having was around the auto industry, or this morning when you posted links that had nothing to do with convo at hand about percentage of those born in Canada, right? You speak from experience about mucking up threads...

Maybe he can do what you typically do.... pull it out of your äss, say it three times, then pretend it's real. We've been over this...
-
You're a wealth of information.... but rarely stay on topic in your quest to show 'look what the liberals did!' 2.9M people isn't going to change the fact the majority of Canadian's are born in Canada, and certainly doesn't confirm they're all in low income housing, at food banks and syphoning off our social programs. I have better things to do than watch committee meetings so will rely on you for those updates 👍

TDS a new form of domestic terrorism?
LinkSoul60 replied to paxamericana's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It's not a slam dunk with him already losing that narrative to the masses with the thuggery they wanted to display. Manufacturing output has increased nominally but has lost over 100K jobs. I'm sure those people out of jobs could care less about a minor productivity gain. Inflation is here to stay for some time thanks to Trump. It's interesting that Biden left office with a solid economy and low unemployment with inflation moving downwards, but the cost of living was still a major talking point in the election. Now it's all good because it's Trump's inflation.... Got it. -
Yes jobs are going to be there in retail, hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare and trades. Robots aren't going to be taking over trades, construction or a number of other labor intensive jobs in our lifetime. Maybe at some point but not in the foreseeable future. Again, I don't disagree that AI will have a profound effect on labour, but that's not across every sector. Are there stats to back that up? I don't think that's the case and would be very surprised if it were fact. That chart is from 16 years ago. So, no facts to back those comments up, just believing our government isn't straight up. AI Overview Based on 2023 Statistics Canada data, the overall employment rate for core working-age immigrants (aged 25-54) in Canada was approximately 82.6%. Employment rates vary by duration of residency, with 77.8% of recent arrivals (5 years or less) employed, rising to 84.5% for those in Canada over 10 years, indicating strong labour market integration over time. Recent Immigrant Employment: Recent immigrants often see rapid employment gains; 42.5% of working-age immigrants not employed at arrival found work within three months. Job Quality Challenges: While employment rates are high, over-education is common. In 2021, only 44% of immigrants who arrived within the previous decade worked in jobs matching their education level, compared to 64% of Canadian-born workers. Economic Contribution: Immigration has been crucial to labor growth, contributing to 79.9% of the growth in Canada's labour force between 2016 and 2021. Sector Representation: Immigrants are heavily represented in key sectors, accounting for 34.1% of professionals in scientific/technical services and 37.8% in transportation/warehousing.

Canada to be China’s 24th province?

If you consider ~90% of Canadian's less and less, sure... It's the non-stop crying and complainers like you that feel that way. Fortunately, you're in a small percentage. Then they, and you should leave the country it's that bad. Pack your bags and get the first train out town... -
TDS a new form of domestic terrorism?
LinkSoul60 replied to paxamericana's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I'll give him that, he's a master marketer. It's like PT Barnum x 75 million. Start with two of the key reasons he was elected... immigration and the economy/inflation. Immigration was the one thing you'd think was a slam dunk, yet the majority of people disapprove of his handling of that. The economy has lost manufacturing jobs he says are coming back and inflation isn't coming down, nor will it for a while now. -
Not stale arguments...it's fact. A 15 year declining birthrate means we will have less Canadian born people to fill job vacancies as we age. If we don't have enough people to fill jobs then we need immigration. AI isn't going to solve the worker shortages that we have in healthcare and skilled trades, but do agree... AI has and will eliminate jobs, and likely a lot of them. Which ones, how many and when remain to be seen. Immigration was cut and will be lower for the next 3 years. The numbers re smaller but it can't, and won't go to zero. No way... the majority of Canadian's were born in Canada, not elsewhere. In another 10 - 15 years I'll agree with you. Do you have any facts or data that says it's all foreign born people who are poor and living off our social programs, or is it just a guess? The conservatives thought the same during their time so all is equal.

That's not the role of media 'news'. "News' is reported as it is. 'Comments' on newsworthy items are a persons editorial/opinion pieces. You can find those on X and Facebook. Besides the jokes about your favourite couple.... why so upset? I thought it was funny as hell. -
I was talking about constant complainers like you and immigration. Point out what was 'stupid', other than you. On cue little Fxx has to meltdown and think he's 'won' something... 🤡
-
I'm not sure how this turned into a debate for you that you've now won. I said your non-stop crying and complaining was humorous, but sometimes just plain boring. No debate there right... I'm not having a meltdown. Are you kiddo? That's a lot of ranting...

Doesn't matter the party, investment has been going more to Mexico or the US for the last 25 years. EV build out has brought some investment back and is a growing category that will hopefully lead to more investment down the road. Until then... get whatever we can hammered out with the US on these tariffs while going down the EV auto strategy path.
