This is just not true, despite what Trump and right-wing media tell you. They are lying to you. In fact, it was Clinton who in the 1990s made the biggest strides in border security. In an effort to bring a level of control to the border, Operation "Hold the Line" was established in 1993 in El Paso, and proved an immediate success. Agents and technology were concentrated in specific areas, providing a "show of force" to potential illegal border crossers. The drastic reduction in apprehensions prompted the Border Patrol to undertake a full-scale effort in San Diego, California, which accounted for more than half of illegal entries. Operation "Gatekeeper" was implemented in 1994, and reduced illegal entries in San Diego by more than 75% over the next few years. A defined national strategic plan was introduced alongside Operation Gatekeeper and set out a plan of action for the Border Patrol into the future. With illegal entries at a more manageable level, the Patrol was able to concentrate on other areas, such as establishing anti-smuggling units and search and rescue teams such as BORSTAR. The Border Safety Initiative (BSI) was created in 1998 with a commitment by the Border Patrol and the promised cooperation of the Mexican government. As painful as it might be, you need to come to terms with the fact that Trump has played you and he has conned you to get obsessed with immigration while he seizes all the levers of power in government. I know - Trump has made you very, very afraid.

the evidence would fill several volumes. -
Yes, everyone wants to address illegal immigration!!! But let's do it legally! With a recognition of the dignity of all individuals. What the hell does the US stand for? I don't know anymore.

Trump scores another one for Putin and Russia Trump has shut down the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), the umbrella organization that provides support not only to Voice of America but also to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio Martí, and Radio Free Asia, among other groups. As Max Boot wrote in The Washington Post on Sunday, “All of this amounts to a stunning and self-defeating repudiation of America’s legacy as a beacon of freedom around the world.” Russia’s reaction (made on Russian television on Sunday night) regarding Trump’s order: “Today is a celebration for my colleagues at RT, Sputnik, and other outlets, because Trump unexpectedly announced that he’s closing down Radio Liberty and Voice of America, and now they’re closed. This is an awesome decision by Trump.” Apparently, Trump (just like Russia) does not like media that criticizes authoritarian governments. Man, is Russia ever cheering for Trump. -

I am in the position where I do not take at face value anything that Trump's sycophants say at face value. -
You gotta be kidding. that's the only explanation I can find for your blindness to what is going on. Or maybe I just gave you more credit than you deserved.

Biden had a bill to address illegal immigration. Trump killed it. But they weren't given due process. It's a slippery slope the US is sliding down, where the proclamations of the president take precedence over the law. The law must survive any individual administration. More than a dozen judges have said Trump and Co. probably broke the law Trump is now averaging one such finding about every four days.

Trump hands Putin another favour

The credibility of the GrayZone pales in comparison to the Washington Post: Coverage of The Grayzone has focused on its misleading[25][26][27] reporting, its criticism of American foreign policy,[1][2] and its sympathetic coverage of the Russian, Chinese and former Syrian governments.[32] The Grayzone has been accused of downplaying and defending the persecution of Uyghurs in China,[33][37] of publishing conspiracy theories about Xinjiang, Syria and other regions,[38][39][40][1] and of publishing pro-Russian propaganda and disinformation, especially during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. -
You haven't understood a word I've said.

Trump terminates program tracking mass abductions of Ukrainian children I wonder if Putin said, "Pretty please?" And then there's Trump, kissing Putin's ass. Observers fear the move has compromised evidence of war crimes by Russian officials and will hinder efforts to rescue thousands of missing Ukrainian children. The Trump administration has terminated a U.S.-funded initiative that documents alleged Russian war crimes, including a sensitive database detailing the mass deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia, according to U.S. officials familiar with the directive and documents obtained by The Washington Post. The move has barred the transmission of evidence to prosecutors pursuing multiple criminal cases, including the International Criminal Court’s landmark indictment of Russian President Vladimir Putin for what it has called the “unlawful transfer” of children from occupied areas of Ukraine, U.S. officials said.

The threat to the rule of law. Trump has repeatably claimed he is above the law. There was that little matter of trying to steal an election through false means, and now with the deportations. Did you read his post? This Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker and agitator who was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, was not elected President - He didn’t WIN the popular VOTE (by a lot!), he didn’t WIN ALL SEVEN SWING STATES, he didn’t WIN 2,750 to 525 Counties, HE DIDN’T WIN ANYTHING! I WON FOR MANY REASONS, IN AN OVERWHELMING MANDATE, BUT FIGHTING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION MAY HAVE BEEN THE NUMBER ONE REASON FOR THIS HISTORIC VICTORY. I’m just doing what the VOTERS wanted me to do. This judge, like many of the Crooked Judges’ I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!! WE DON’T WANT VICIOUS, VIOLENT, AND DEMENTED CRIMINALS, MANY OF THEM DERANGED MURDERERS, IN OUR COUNTRY. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!! He is going to attempt to do as much as he can get away with. Here's the problem: If he posits that he is not bound by the law, and the courts, those connected with him take their cue. He will be courted by executives and varying organizations, and corruption results. If one is not bound by the law, then no-one is.

The Dems never did what Trump is doing You will have to provide instances when the Dems silenced anyone, when they stole rights, and when they repressed. You are a champion bullsh*tter.
-
You begin with a false premise. No, not proven. No, not obvious. But in any case, irrelevant to what Trump is doing now. MAGA's willingness to let Trump position himself above the law has nothing to do with the Democrats, but rather they demonstrate a cultish devotion to him. As I mentioned, he has created an enemy for them and they believe he alone can fix it. If it requires him to be a dictator, they accept that. Cases in point:
-
Trump's illegalities pose a greater threat to the US
-
it's not rhetoric but what is happening. It's plain to anyone outside of the right-wing bubble of disinformation. The unpopularity of the Democrats can be put down to different things, but it is worth noting that the Republicans had worse numbers during the first year of Trump's first term. The percentage of voters with an unfavorable view of the Republican Party hovered around 60% in 2017, with a peak of 67% in August, according to Quinnipiac.

No, what I want is truth. I was responding to a falsehood from another member.

They in large part power the US economy. These figures are from a few years ago, but are still relevant: The vast majority of illegal immigrants are working and pay into a system they cannot collect from. 1. Agriculture Undocumented workers make up 25% of all farm workers in the US. The majority of these workers are overworked and put in at least 10 hours of work per day in arduous conditions to feed American families. 2. Building, grounds-keeping, and maintenance Undocumented workers make up 19% of maintenance workers. These laborers tend to work on low wages for 12-hr shifts, often 7 days a week. 3. Construction 17% of US construction workers are undocumented Food preparation & serving 12% of workers in this occupation are undocumented 5. Taxes Undocumented immigrants pay billions of dollars in taxes annually. Households headed by unauthorized immigrants paid $10.6 billion in state and local taxes in 2010. This includes $1.2 billion in personal income taxes, $1.2 billion in property taxes, and more than $8 billion in sales and excise taxes. Immigrants—even legal immigrants—are barred from most social services, meaning that they pay to support benefits they cannot even receive. https://www.ilr.cornell.edu/mobilizing-against-inequality/post/five-ways-undocumented-immigrants-are-powering-american-economy

This reminds me of "If you don't believe me, just ask me."
-
Yeah, you still don't get it. You're missing the forest for the trees. Trump has created an enemy for you. He has made you believe that illegal immigrants are a threat to the nation. But they aren't. The real threat to the nation is Trump, as he attacks the rule of law, and your systems and institutions, in order to gain more power for himself. And as he dismantles your democracy, he keeps you occupied, screaming, "But the immigrants!" No, it was the words from the Act. of another nation or government
-
That is a wartime act that can only be used in times of war with other nations or governments It has only ever been used in the War of 1812, WW1 and WW2 From the act: That whenever there shall be a declared war between the United States and any foreign nation or government, or any invasion or predatory incursion shall be perpetrated, attempted, or threatened against the territory of the United States, by any foreign nation or government, and the President of the United States shall make public proclamation of the event, all natives, citizens, denizens, or subjects of the hostile nation or government, Your understanding is faulty

What Trump did was stage a massive spectacle for the viewing pleasure of his base. It's too bad that adherence to the law was lost as collateral damage. I am supporting the rule of law. A true patriot would respect the rule of law.
-
It's amazing what can be done in the name of "protecting the country." So, you do accept a dictator as president.
-
The judge ordered the plane turned around. Trump openly defied the order, thus breaking the law. There is something called "checks and balances". The judicial branch is a check on power grabs by the president. The president was acting outside of his powers when he deported all those people for no other reason than his say-so that "they are bad people." A president should not have that power. It is dictatorial. If the deportees had been given due process, we would have found out that some were not gang members at all. When the president overpowers the law, that is dictatorial.
-
Well, if Trump said it, it must be true. /s So, you accept him breaking the law? You accept him ignoring a judge's order? You gladly give him dictatorial powers? These deportees were not given due process. You can be sure some of them were not gang members at all.
