Our unemployment numbers are so low that we're going to have to streamline the immigration process because we need workers! HB-1 visa need to go out in record numbers. To sum this subject up the very right wing families who believe anyone should be able to buy an AR-15 then out of fear that their kid could be slaughtered in a mass shooting pull their children out of schools (public or charter) is irony at an off the charts level.

In NY parents who wish to home school their children must provide written notice of intent to the school district superintendent. The school district must then respond to the family and provide a copy of the home instruction regulations as well as an individualized home instruction plan (IHIP) form to complete. From my experience most parents who want to homeschool for religious reasons or distrust of the public education system just can't cut the mustard and actually hurt their children in the process. Many give up and put their child back into the system only to be one or two grades behind kids their age.

The idea that anyone/parent can cover today's needed curriculum from elementary to middle school all the way thru highschool is unrealistic. The parent would need to be versed in ever facet of education for every single yr and for highschool courses in math alone just isn't feasible. So for those here who claim that somehow a homeschool education compares to an actual public school education is just kidding themselves. And in reality most parents I see who want to educate their young are the least capable. After all if you where able to do that then you'd be an actual educator making 120k a year with an ass kicking retirement and guaranteed healthcare for life.

Also sad because the only place charter/private schools outperform public is in red southern states. But charter schools in the south are only for a select few. Republican senators sons and daughters.

Very unfortunate for the right. They hate public schools and can not afford private education so they homeschool. This will further perpetuate them to a lower standard of living already teetering on third world for many. With poor educational outcomes from being taught by your mother to the lower income without moms salary. Maybe this whole thing was engineered in left wing think tanks???

Education quality is poor at best and the majority of home schooled grads? are incapable of entering even state/SUNY colleges. No doubt a byproduct of mommy with only a GED (good enough diploma) educating her offspring while daddy teaches the important aspects of tractor maintenance on the weekends. Not only are these children uneducated but they also lack the social skills of learning about what's needed to live in a society. They are easily dupped because they're incapable of judging character, after all mommy never stole their cookies at recess. Actually unlike most blue states were you need a master's to become a teacher you only need to have a GED in Florida. No joke anyone can become a teacher in Fla, hence the huge pay difference and quality of education
