  1. The leaked documents reveal that the White House doesn't think Ukraine can win the war and suggest the US administration may lack confidence in supporting Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. Many of the documents appear to be part of briefing slides for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon, which could include analysis from the Defense Intelligence Agency, Central Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency and other intelligence agencies.

Also, the narrative is shifting and more attention is being paid to China and what's happening in their neck of the woods.

@Luz P. here is an old man that agrees with you and wants peace right now. His name is Henry Kissinger. Do you know about this person? This is the genius who, in the '70s, in the midst of the Cultural Revolution, when Mao was killing millions across China, had the "inspired" idea to form a partnership. He and many in the Republican establishment figures are to blame for the subsequent accession of the CCP. I don't forget that.

but here is one that talks about "peace". I won't start talking about Chile because as mentioned before -> I do understand that being the top at the food chain, you don't get there by being nice and compared to what alternatives are on the other side, the United States is the best to be in charge in my view. I would have a US dominated world any day than Xi or Putin types at the top.

Henry Kissinger, 99 years old says:

Kissinger calls for a negotiated peace in Ukraine, Kyiv dismisses his proposal within hours.

Macron can talk about peace and realism, he does not have the history that Henry has in my opinion. Henry the saviour.

Look who they dig out from retirement to speak out, the media like always has no shame.

How sad that you're giving arguments against peace... and quoting Kissinger to make a point. Low.

Yeah I’m sure all those Russian Putin critics poisoned themselves and pushed themselves out of windows.

And yeah everyone knows that if you do anything that requires “funds” it means you’re corrupt. So this whole defending themselves from invasion thing must be a giant scam. Borders defend themselves for free why would they need “funds”?

If you're against scams, why not hold the west accountable?  They're the biggest promoters of war, of course, always under the guise of "bringing democracy"; which is ironic, since they don't have it either.

@Luz P.so in another words you want Romanians in Transilvania to step aside if Orban decides to take 2-3 provinces in the name of the Austro-Hungarian empire back in the day? I don't make fun of the "peace of the world" , is just an idealistic non-realistic statement that people use for different reasons. One is from pure belief, they were religious groups in WW2 which refused to take weapons in their hand (others did the dirty work for them), but there are also people that use this idea of peace to manipulate. They claim "peace of the world" but meanwhile other agendas are behind it.

I'm glad you think: 1) you make any sense 2) have any idea what war is about 3) believe "peace of the world" is non-realistic. It shows you've never been close to war and are proficient at theorizing.

Non-sense, not all wars are the same. I agreed with Jacques Chirac, a socialist, when he stood as a proud Frenchman for what is right -> against the war in Iraq.

I am fairly convinced in today's war he would no doubt support Ukraine, the way Macron is doing now, with a dose of realism, but none of the less still support the Ukrainians fully.

We can't have in the civilised world, 2022, hordes as during the Dark Ages crossing borders when they want to. Who is next? What if Hungary wants Transilvania because they have some grievances from WW2? should the "War Hawks" stay aside for the so called "peace of the world?"

Interesting how you make fun of "peace of the world" and advocate for war while sitting in Canada.

When was the last time your country fought a war in their land? Never? Perhaps only against native Canadians? Impressive!

Putin isn’t the monster the western MSM makes him out to be (although he isn’t a “good guy” either), but make no mistake Ukraine is getting funds and Zelensky is the latest media darling because they’re fighting USA’s proxy war.  And the USA is committed to fighting Russia to the last Ukrainian and shows its support by sending billions there to the detriment of the American people.

When it dawns on the EU that they’ve also been used in this proxy war, meaning they are paying a much higher price than the USA - which is making out like a bandit with oil and weapon sales -, we’ll see how they end up showing that resentment.

  6. While folks passionately defend their POV there’s a prevalent short-sightedness or perhaps it’s an unwillingness to admit who the biggest losers in the long run will be:

    1.    USA

    2.    EU

    3.    NATO

    4.    Ukraine

    5.    Russia

Let’s see if the USA finally stops interfering in other countries’ business and stops with the proxy wars. There’s a massive contradiction that in the land of the “brave” the strategy has always been to “fight them there, so we don’t have to fight them here”… something only cowards would do.

It’s so easy to be a war hawk while sitting in the comfort of your living room.

  7. Who is cheering on an invasion?

Contrarian described a bunch of positions when it comes to the war in Ukraine, but he forgot to mention folks comfortable subscribing to binary thought, because:

    ·         If you’re against the war in Ukraine you must be a Kremlin/Putin apologist

    ·         If you think Biden is a spaz you must be a fan of that uncouth bully named Trump

    ·         If you question Lula’s rise back to power you must be a pro-fascist Bolsonaro supporter

    ·         If you doubt how organic most social uprisings are you must be a conspiracy theorist

    ·         If you want Hunter Biden made accountable you must want to give the Trump kids a pass

    ·         If you’re for abortion you must be a demonic baby killer

    ·         If you’re for gun control you must be an unpatriotic wuss

    ·         If you’re for border control you must be a heartless racist

    ·         If you’re for legalizing all drugs you mustn’t care about how drugs destroy families or be a druggie yourself.

    ·         If you’re for funding the police you must be for police brutality

    ·         If you’re for heightened mental illness awareness you must want increased discrimination.

    ·         If you’re for lowering taxes you must be a selfish elitist

    ·         If you’re for limited government you must be an out-of-touch idealist

    And so it goes…

Binary thought prevails because it doesn’t concern itself with nuances or the pursuit of integrity. It provides an easy go-to argument that doesn’t require thinking and is the reason why too many feel comfortable subscribing to it.

In what alternative reality was Ukraine “by far the largest and most capable NATO-equipped, NATO-commanded army in the world” and in what alternative reality is it being “systematically destroyed” by the Russians who have been in retreat for months now and losing soldiers and equipment at levels not seen since WW2?

I gather you’re unaware that without NATO’s intervention, Ukraine would have lost the war, probably by early March. And it’s only the USA’s “generosity” that keeps them fighting. You've got to give it to Zelensky though, he’s mastered the art of extending a hand and asking for more money and weapons… to the tune of what?  65+B?  With zero accountability, which works well for him, considering Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world.

Maybe stop relying so much on western propaganda.  How many months now we’ve been told Russia is losing?  They may be losing, but so is the rest of the world, at least economically. Europe’s stubbornness in teaching Putin a lesson is ridiculous, shouldn’t those “leaders” care about their own instead of preaching something they hardly practice?

  11. Maybe look at a different perspective, not the one western MSM is madly pushing…

“Most of the world, including Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, is carefully watching Russia systematically destroy what was by far the largest and most capable NATO-equipped, NATO-commanded army in the world (the Ukrainian army, that is), understanding full well that what is unfolding is Washington’s Waterloo. Some countries (Saudi Arabia, for instance) are so sure of the result that they are already refusing to obey Washington’s dictates. This is a problem, because all the Washingtonians know how to do is impose their will on the world. Treating others as equals or looking for opportunities to negotiate a win-win is simply not part of their core competence—or any of their competence, for that matter. Once defanged, all they know how to do is bark and drool.

This is moral equivocation - a shoddy logical construct.  It's fair to criticize Justin Trudeau, or the truckers, or both, but if you want to call Trudeau an "authoritarian" of the same stripes as Vladimir Putin, you're being silly.

Well, if not authoritarian, how would you describe someone who freezes the bank accounts of protestors?  Is there a better way to silence people than through their wallets? As far as I’m concerned this shouldn’t be happening in a “democracy” and Trudeau should know better.

Naive and idealistic are not words that are generally used to describe Clare Daly.  If you were being generous, you might call her an anti-establishment activist.  If you were being fair, you'd call her a deluded conspiracy theorist following all of the usual politics of the brand, including but not limited to being consistently pro-Russia and pro-dictator any chance she gets.  This is the MEP that places like China, Russia, Belarus, Nicaragua and Iran like to feature in their domestic news because she's pretty much just a mouthpiece of everything they want to hear.  ?

Don’t you get tired of USA’s preaching?  Why does the empire feel it has the moral high ground to name bad guys while turning a blind eye to their favored baddies?  I’m thinking of Saudi Arabia and Israel. My war criminals are better than yours, is that the thinking?

And the knack for regime change is only extended to those countries considered unruly. Let’s open a can of “democracy” and destroy the lives of people living in countries the USA can’t control.

  13. Unfortunately, the western system isn’t working as expected. Just ask Canadian truckers if Trudeau is an authoritarian or if democracy is the panacea we’ve been led to believe is.

The west’s hubris has gone amok and the proof is that people advocating for peace like Clare Daly are called naïve or idealists. What would you suggest?

To remain opting for the status quo which evidently is in a free fall and not working?  Shouldn’t now be the time to try something different?

  14. Now this is the way to discuss terrorism & the West's hypocrisy in claiming Russian "terrorism".

That’s why I’m asking.  My perception (and I’m not saying I’m correct) is that they are.

I’ve come across one too many True Patriot, American Patriot, Blue Hero Patriot, Cowgirl Patriot, Lady Patriot, et al. All of them intent on waking up the masses.

    Here’s an example:

“I put up true news to help the masses raise their vibration but some leftist assholes don't like that, cuz their light bothers their demons. The bottom line is this scamdemic and vaccines are to lower the population. The bad guys are the usual suspects. Rothschilds, Rockefellers etc... To me it's obvious but I'm awake.”

BTW, this is a copy and paste from a response I recently got – not here though.

  16. Seems Republicans suffer from short-span memory. It’s been their presidents who have significantly increased the national debt.

    https://www.sounddollar.com/national-debt-by-president

And Trump ranks as the third-biggest increase, relative to the size of the economy, of any U.S. presidential administration, according to a calculation by a leading Washington budget maven, Eugene Steuerle, co-founder of the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center. And unlike George W. Bush and Abraham Lincoln, who oversaw the larger relative increases in deficits, Trump did not launch two foreign conflicts or have to pay for a civil war.
