What is this danger people keep talking about? And why was nobody talking about danger in regards to Hillary and obamas "nation building" that has killed and displaced 100's of thousands of people?
Look at the list of cabinet candidates. Majority of the people picked are against the very agencies they would be representing. There are also a list of warmongers, which goes against the isolationist, almost libertarian views he said he has when it comes to wars.
I agree that Obama and especially Hillary were dangerous as well. Part of me is happy that Hillary was not picked, because she would have continued the same old miserable shit the previous presidents on both sides of the isle have done. Which is to represent the multi-nationals and special interest groups who have enough money to push their agenda.

There is no "we" for this process. Americans did not fret over the minister choices of Canada's new government.
Cabinet members are nominated, confirmed, replaced, and sometimes even convicted.
I am not asking the American people to consider my feelings towards Trump. I am saying that you shouldn't get all emotional because a non-American says "we" are going towards a dangerous path. The word "we" is being used because Trump's decisions can effect non-Americans.
QuotePresident Obama's cabinet choices were not subjected to this kind of scrutiny. We now know how one of those choices worked out for embassy staff in Libya.
Obama did receive scrutiny, but Trump's selections should receive more because he has picked people who are the opposite of what he had said he would pick. Where is the sewage draining?
That said, I'm excited about Trump choosing the Canadian citizen, Elon Musk as part of his advisory panel.
-
I'm sure he will pick cabinet members consistent with his goals.
There is a we. The U.S.' actions effect the whole world.

Actually he said he was going to "drain the swamp"... he just didn't say where he was going to drain it. I guess he figures into his cabinet is about the best place.
But... but... Trump is non-interventionalist! He was against the Libyan and Iraq wars! (Well, he was for the wars first, but when did that little fact get in the way of a Trump supporter?)
My hope is that Trump is the shock the system needs. He's already pushed aside an established politician, but the people who he is surrounding himself with is a good indication that we are going to go towards a dangerous path. These four years under Trump may finally create a situation where a genuine politician, such as Bernie may have a chance to lead America.

^ Sad looking list.
I thought Trump was going to "drain the sewage". He's got establishment and special interest all over his cabinet.
Oh, and.... HE'S BAAACCCK!
Noted Iraq War Hawk John Bolton Is Trump’s Pick for Deputy Secretary of State
Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky) has noted his opposition to John Bolton on many occasions and it would be interesting to see how Paul will react to Trump going for Bolton as the Deputy Secretary of State instead of the Secretary of State.

At least post some links to where you are getting your information. Otherwise you are going to be just noise that people will tune out.

Who is better friends with ISIS? United States or Turkey?

What is so wrong with "political and economic domination" by the US, if it brings a better standard of living for the common people than what they endured for decades? How is it better to be "free" and independent, when the consequences of that freedom are abject poverty?
What if this increased standard of living (which is now on the reverse for the middle class) is at the expense of others around the world? It doesn't have to be, but America's foreign adventures did the opposite to people around the world, as far as living standards.

I guess that could be true if one always relies on U.S. politics for light and sunshine.
The comment about optimism was towards America going in a positive direction. Not optimism in my life. Besides it being a side-show, American politics and Americans are insignificant.

I admire your optimism. Given his choice in cabinet and Higbie's reference to Japanese internment as the precedent for Muslim registry, I remain highly dubious.
Any little optimism I had fast disappeared after the selection of his cabinet. It will be a dark 4 years.

Rue, I am not interested in debating whether the settlements are legal or not.
Why even bother with debating things like this with people like him?
It's like trying to debate a climate change denier.
If the ICJ, the redcross, HRW, Amnesty International and all the countries' opinion cannot change his mind, why would you think you will?
This is what it got like with DogOnPorch and I had to finally put him on ignore. I do recommend that you do the same. It's a waste of time.

There was no misinformation. The report was repudiated by Goldstone. The report does not stand, It was withdrawn by him..
It wasn't.
Your links do not show anything about him 'withdrawing' the report.
You continue to spread lies and misinformation.
-
They won't acknowledge as well that in fact Justice Goldstone withdrew the report’s most serious claim that the Israeli Defense Forces intentionally targeted civilians during their operations in Gaza.
The misinformation has already been pointed out: There was no withdrawing by Goldstone. It's your choice whether you want to continue the above lie or not.
Nothing in the report has been withdrawn by Goldstone or the UN. The report still stands.

False...many in Israel still do, as do many in the U.S.
I don't think anyone here speaks for all people with varying views and "support".
Many in South Africa supported their government and the apartheid system. Many in Germany supported the Nazi regime and their actions. Many in America supported the Iraq war.
That's normal. People are easily moved by propaganda and the feeling of insecurity. To the point where they'll accept or become numb to vile choices their governments make. Either that or they're just not informed enough to make a rational judgement.
We have set moral and ethical standards for ourselves and I wouldn't feel comfortable with myself if I looked the other way while my government and the world allowed the ugliness that we're capable of committing to continue.

International law should not be a suicide pact. Your ministrations would make it one.
No it shouldn't and it doesn't have to be.
Not sure why you think if Israel follows the law it would mean that it would have to sacrifice its existence.
Israel would not be committing suicide if it removes the settlements.
Israel would not be committing suicide if it removes the wall that cuts deep into Palestinian territory.
Israel would not be committing suicide if it allows a Palestinian State to be formed.
No one buys the tired old "it's all for defensive measures" or "everyone wants to destroy us" propaganda anymore.
-
International law is clear that stabbings or crimes committed by individuals or groups do not warrant a response that breaks the law. That's of course, if we go with the narrative that Israel's actions are all "a response".For example: Just because a missile was shot from the Gaza Strip, this is not carte blanche for Israel to violate international law. International experts and their investigations have repeatedly found that Israel has violated the Geneva Convention, which Israel is a signatory to. Then, of course, there is also the following that Israel continues to violate
- Freedom of movement – Gaza blockade and West Bank restrictions
- Arbitrary arrests and detentions
- Torture and other ill-treatment
- Unlawful killings and Extrajudicial executions
- Excessive use of force
- Freedoms of expression, association and assembly
- Housing rights – forced evictions and demolitions
- Settler violence
- Impunity
- Refugees and asylum-seekers
More on Israel's violations of international law:

Really. Show me one post from you where you discussed the "ethics", "principles" and "morality" of Hamas tactics, of Palestinians who stab unarmed civilians, of Palestinian and Muslim extremists who use hospitals, schools, homes, innocent civilians as shields.
Spare me the bullsheeyit. You are here for one reason-to join in a chorus that will only select out and insult Israel for existing as a Jewish state by
using the pretext all its people are criminals.
No one has once said that suicide attacks or stabbings by Palestinians are okay. There is no argument there. However, there are those, like yourself, who try to excuse Israel's killings of innocent people. Not to mention confiscation of land and its resources and the disinterest by Israel to move towards solving the issues.
-
You use the above incident to fan hatred between Palestinians and Israelis because that is your agenda
No I didn't. I brought it up because you tried to laugh off the mistrust and suspicion about the organ stealing by Israel, as conspiracy theory. When in reality, Israel has been caught stealing Palestinian organs.
Once in a while, I find the patience to untangle some of the messy, incoherent propaganda that you flood this forum with. I do it because I believe we need honesty and justice and I believe, as a Canadian, I have to push my country to distance itself from countries who commit crimes.
-
Yes Israel at one point and according to the post you refer to
So it's not so far fetched as you tried to make it out to be since Israel has admitted to stealing the organs of dead Palestinians.
When Israel has been caught doing so many terrible things to the Palestinians, anything may seem possible for them to do. There is a reason for this mistrust.
-
You just never know on these threads. I mean the PA and Hamas still run tv shows claiming Israelis steal the organs of Palestinian children.
This did happen:
Israel has admitted pathologists harvested organs from dead Palestinians, and others, without the consent of their families

But it already happened in Canada (and the United States), and is still happening. Labeling Israel's actions "war crimes" will not change the past or the present in North America.
Happened, but not happening. There is a difference. Both our last prime minister and current prime minister have apologized for many of the wrongs against the aboriginals. Of course there are still issues that need to be addressed, but Canada is NOT treating the aboriginals the way Israel is treating the Palestinians. Not even close to being comparable. A better comparison is the treatment of the blacks by the Apartheid government in South Africa.
-
Well then if the above is true, then your moral double standard which assumes Israel is supposed to be a Liberal democracy like the US and Canada unlike Arab countries which you claim gives you the right to engage in your double standard does not apply.
I have no double standards. The point here is that Israel is not like Canada. The hypernationalism and the racist behaviour by many in Israel is something majority of Canadians would not engage in. The treatment of Palestinians by the Israeli government and the acceptance by the majority of Israelis is despicable and it's something that would not happen in Canada.
