  1. So would the fact that the US has a homocide rate 4 or 5 times higher put you off visiting there? The UK's homicide rate is nearly half than that of Canada btw. This is the danger of reading sensational media like the Express. It really doesn't give an accurate idea of what a country is like.
  2. Simply not true. Attacks carried out in Europe by Muslims never fail to make the news in America yet I'd be prepared to bet that the recent car bombs carried out by the Provisional IRA are not even known about by most people over there or even here in the UK. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/jun/07/new-ira-claims-responsibility-for-car-bomb-attempt
  3. So you are open minded enough to see that IRA terrorism was politically motivated. Why would you not have the same open mind when it comes to Islamic terrorism? You even pin-point the source of the violence as the ''invasion''. Do you also acknowledge that the invasion and interferance in Middle Eastern affairs by the West is the source of Islamic terrorism? As with Muslim gangs of child abusers, the conspiracy of silence within the Catholic church was not limited to individuals. I see double standards at work.
  4. For certain you can say that more people in the UK have been murdered by Catholic terrorists. The difference is that after an IRA atrocity it was always the political aims which were blamed not the religious ideology. This is not the same when it comes to ISIS inspired attacks. Same with reporting cases of child abuse. Jimmy Saville's faith (if he even had one) was never brought up. Even when the many cases of child abuse within the Catholic church are reported on it is the conspiracy of silence amongst the church's hierachy which is mentioned, not the Catholic church's ideology.
  5. I remember where I was when I heard she had died. I was at a freind's birthday party/rave out in the country. A rumour started going around the crowd that she'd been involved in an accident. I was in my first mobile kitchen serving food and drink to the ''cheesy Quavers'' and I turned my radio on to find out if it was true. At the time most of the people there didn't really care. Diana was pretty unpopular with a large section of the British public and was attacked regularly in the tabloid press. The ''People's Princess'' narrative came after and the Queen took a big hit over her refusal to speak publically about her death or fly the flag at half mast at the palace (despite the fact it would have been against traditional protocol to do so for someone of Diana's position).
  6. It's possible to be worried about both.
  7. Probably 4th after the moon landings.
  8. Possibly the age you were when you said the offending words rather than how long ago it was. It would be harsh to hold someone responsible for something they said as a child, any grown assed man should know better.
  9. Sure but I don't think the deciding factor should be time. Severity and context of the offending words seem like better factors than how long ago they were used. I'd also prefer to see decisions made by the governing bodies not Twitter mobs.
  10. Must be where he got his warmongering from.
  11. Yeah, none so English as Winston.
  12. Yeah, all that people's Princess crap is nonsense but she did flip the bird once she realised she was being used.
  13. That's why I say that's the moment Diana knew it was all over. The point she realised that Charles didn't give a shit about her.
  14. Nah, he looks too much like his grandfather. The timing is all wrong anyway.
  15. He wanted a girl. Don't think ginger hair had a lot to do with it. That was the moment Diana knew it was over.
  16. http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/10/why-to-be-skeptical-of-michael-baden-on-epsteins-death.html He's got plenty of form on this, more interested in his own fame than getting at the truth. Unreliable to say the least.
  17. Dammit, you've given me one less thing to be curmudgeonly about.
  18. Absolutely, trick or treat does not though. Kids now are more likely to go trick or treating than go to bonfires. Penny for the Guy has almost disappeared. This is a loss of a British tradition in favour of an American one. That makes me sad.
  19. This is why it is best to wait before making assumptions.
  20. Yes it is likely but it's still jumping to conclusions until more is known. Like jumping to conclusions in the cinema machete incident in the UK which had nothing to do with Islam. It's no better that the left assuming that a black victim must have been a result of a racist attack. How about waiting until the victim's blood has gone cold before linking every attack to Islam.
  21. Sorry, it was an in joke. Dr Y and myself have both come here from the same site (which does lean heavily to the right). Dr Y is as far from a white supremacist as it is possible to be. He's best described as a red-pilled lefty.
  22. Proof of the radicalising effects of far-right websites?
  23. But don't let that stop you jumping to conclusions. Never let a tragedy go to waste...
  24. What should the statute of limitation on racism be set at? Past what time limit is it OK to ignore racism?
