  1. Ontario's Premier just announced they are expanding the number of places to sell alcohol by over 8,000 stores.

Thousands of retail outlets and corner stores will be able to sell alcohol.

At the same time they recently announced they are getting tougher with drinking and driving and expanding police enforcement to catch drinking drivers.

These are two contradictory measures.  Increasing impaired driving policing and increasing alcohol sales.  Why are they doing this?  The answer is because the population in general demands it.

People are apparently demanding more easy access to beer and alcohol.

This will of course increase the number of impaired drivers on the road.  More crime, motor vehicle accidents, injuries, and death.  More drinking means more domestic problems and domestic abuse.  Another thing contributing to the anarchy and lawlessness of society.

  2. Judges 19: Lessons for When a Society Rejects God’s Word

Here, God reveals seven consequences to a society when it rejects His Word and His morality as sovereign.

First, when God’s Word becomes unpopular with the people, many leaders will sadly abandon Him as well. Without godly leaders, the people will then descend further into sin.

    1. When the People Abandon God, Most Leaders Will Do So as Well. Judges 19:1(a).

The importance of godly leaders in restraining sin. Satan’s goal has always been to break down authority through rebellion. His goal is to create chaos and misery by causing people to turn away from God. Satan first led a third of the angels in rebellion against God’s rule (Rev. 12:3-9). He then led Eve to rebel against God’s rules (Gen. 3:1-4). He then led Adam and Eve to rebel against each other (Gen 3:16). All of Satan’s 12 rebellions in the wilderness sought to depose Moses as the leader of the Jews. Satan tries to make us rebel against God’s institutions of authority. In quoting a prophecy, Jesus revealed what happens when we submit to Satan’s attempts to make us rebel: “I will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.” (Mk. 14:23). Here, the sheep became scattered because they no longer wanted to hear from their shepherd. Without a godly shepherd, the sheep descended further into sin. Thus, godly leaders need brave citizens who are willing to reject public opinion to follow them. Will you be one?

    2. The Family Order will Break Down. Judges 19:1(b)-2.

If Satan’s first attack in the garden of Eden caused Adam and Eve to rebel against God, his second attack was to set Adam and Eve against each other (Gen. 3:15). He follows the same plan of attack today. First, he causes people to rebel against God’s standards of morality. Once they reject His standards, Satan then attacks the family. We can see this unfold in the relationship between the Levite and his concubine. Neither followed God’s Law, and they both suffered because of their decisions. The Levite gave into coveting by taking a concubine. By doing so he violated God’s Tenth Commandment (Ex. 20:17; Dt. 5:21). As a Levite, he was also called upon to be holy as an example for others to follow (Lev. 11:44; 19:2). Unhappy in her status as a legal mistress, the woman turned to adultery. Yet, in doing so, she violated God’s Seventh Commandment against adultery (Ex. 20:14; Dt. 5:18). Their unhappiness is a warning to believers today as well. If you reject God’s standards of morality, you will open your family to Satan’s attacks and the misery that will follow.

    3. God’s Places of Refuge Will be Limited for Those in Need. Judges 19:3-13.

When unrepentant sin runs unchecked, God will lift His hedge of protection. God can be a shield to those who take refuge in Him (Prov. 30:5; 2 Sam. 22:31). Yet, when a nation turns from Him, His shield of protection will be removed (Lev. 26:14-39; Dt. 28:15-68). These lessons apply today as well. If the western world will not turn back to God, He will not bless the nations with his hedge of protection against evil. Like a person without a roof over their home, the people will be exposed to all the attacks of the evil one.

    4. Most People will Become Self-Centered and Inhospitable. Judges 19:14-21.

The Benjamites dishonored God by failing to show compassion and help the Levite. Their lack of compassion provides a warning to believers today. In the end times, the people will care only about themselves. They will show no compassion for the helpless: “For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,” (2 Tim. 3:2).

    5. Same Sex Acts Will Become Rampant. Judges 19:22-24.

    6. Sexual Violence will Become Rampant. Judges 19:25-26.

    7. Society Will Become Numb to Its Sins. Judges 19:27-30.

A nation that tolerates sin is spiritually blind and will also tear itself apart. The deceased concubine is like the body of Christ when it tolerates sin, and fails to repent and seek refuge in God. Like the people of Sodom, Gomorrah, and Gibeah, society has become numb to the pervasive sexual sins throughout it. This is also one of the signs of the end times: “Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts,” (2 Pet. 3:3). “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” (Jude 1:18(b)). “But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,” (1 Tim. 4:1). When society embraces the desires of the flesh over God’s morality, it becomes spiritually blind:

When society becomes spiritually blind and tolerates sin, it will also tear itself apart like the body of the concubine. Pornography, rape, adultery, fornication, and sex outside of marriage have all lost their stigma. Society no longer is shocked or even offended by these sins. Are you willing to stand up for God’s standards of sexual morality, even when you are ridiculed for doing so? (Ro. 1:16).

Two other practices which are evil but not mentioned here:

    1.  Abortion.  Canada has something like 80,000 to 100,000 abortions per year, which is the killing of unborn babies.  This is contrary the the Bible which says clearly "thou shalt not kill".

    2. Canada has legalized medical assistance in dying, MAID, which is just legalized assisted suicide.  Also contrary to the Bible's commandment "thou shalt not kill".

  3. "

A new government bill tabled in the House of Commons on Thursday would allow Canadians to pass citizenship rights down to their children born outside the country — a move that would add an unknown number of new citizens.

In 2009, former Conservative prime minister Stephen Harper's government changed the law so that Canadian parents who were born abroad could not pass down their citizenship, unless their child was born in Canada."

New bill would let Canadians to pass citizenship rights down to children born abroad | CBC News

This could be controversial because it could mean immigrants who came to Canada, obtained citizenship and lived here for at least 3 years and then moved back to their original country and remained there for many years and had children there.  They may be Canadian citizens of convenience. Their children born in that other country could now claim Canadian citizenship even if they and their parents do not live in Canada.  That is the way I understand it.  I could be wrong.  But if it is true, it would seem that if they lived in some other country and at some point need medical care, all they would to do is come to Canada and claim it.  What about other social services such as old age pensions, etc.?

  4. 3 minutes ago, Michael Hardner said:

Also - how are we paying for health care if they don't live here. 🤔I don't understand

Once the offspring or adopted children of people in other countries who hold Canadian citizenship obtain citizenship, then they will be eligible, if they need medical care, to travel to Canada and obtain it.  This will be possible as they age and acquire medical issues.  What about old age pensions and other social benefits?  How does that work?

  5. Just now, Michael Hardner said:

Yes, but I thought it was due to a court ruling.

Another example of how the court rulings are wrecking Canada and turning it into a post national state under the control and ideology of the U.N.  No court order forces the government to comply with their rulings and bring in new legislation.  The government has the option of just ignoring it.  But it fits liberal ideology.

  6. 7 hours ago, Michael Hardner said:

. Old news.  Today - everybody talks about it.  Liberals talk about it, which is why they're limiting student immigration now.

Did you see the Immigration Minister on the news today?  They are going to give any child born in another country and who has a parent with Canadian citizenship the right to become a Canadian citizen.  The news reported this could open citizenship to two million more people in other countries.

It doesn't matter if the parent is just a citizen of convenience and lives in another country.  Their child can claim Canadian citizenship and all the benefits that go with that.  That means health care and social services.

In other words Canada is moving further toward making huge numbers of people who live in foreign countries citizens of Canada.  Where is the money to pay for all the health care, etc. for these people who don't even live in Canada?  We are a post national state.

What this proposed law doesn't tell you is this would apply to people who lived in Canada for three years and then moved back to their original country and live there for years and then had children there.

  8. We know climate change is natural and always occurred.  Now politicians have jumped on it and it has become a political tool for votes and support.  Of course climate alarmism and "it's man's fault" has to be the key vote getter".  This is why it is costing Canadians billions of dollars and more and more middle class people are lining up at food banks because the cost of everything has spiraled out of sight.

As far as the fear-mongering by political leaders, environmental activists, and mainstream media, we need to trust God and his written revelation, the King James Bible, in English.  Turn to the Lord and be born again.  Accept Jesus Christ as your savior and stop worrying about the climate and everything else.  We can't change it one iota.  It is useless to fret and worry about these things.  God is in control.  We know that from the Holy Scripture.  Study his word, pray and live as he has guided us.

    "

    Isaiah 46:10

"I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.'"

Isaiah 46:10 holds a powerful message of God’s sovereignty. It tells us that from the start, our Lord knew how things would end. He declares, “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.” This scripture shows His divine power and assures us that nothing happens without His say-so.

Whatever God plans to happen will take place because He wishes it.

Believers find comfort in these words during tough times. They are reminded that our heavenly Father has control over everything. His purposes will stand firm; they always do as He pleases.

Reflecting on this verse gives strength and peace, knowing that we are part of a greater plan crafted by an omnipotent Creator who orchestrates every detail of life with perfect precision.

    Proverbs 19:21

"Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails."

Plans fill our minds and calendars. We dream, plot, and schedule our lives with care. Yet Proverbs 19:21 teaches us a humbling lesson – our plans may not always line up with God’s grand design.

This verse reminds us that the Lord’s purpose prevails over any scheme we devise. It nudges us to surrender, to let go of the reins.

Understanding this can be life-changing. Embracing God’s sovereignty brings peace when chaos swirls around us. Knowing that divine providence is at work gives strength when we face setbacks or confusion about the future.

Let’s trust that even when our carefully laid out plans crumble, God has something better in store, shaping a story far greater than anything we could write on our own.

    Psalm 103:19

"The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all."

The Lord has set his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Psalm 103:19 shows us that God’s power is unmatched; he controls the entire universe. His decisions are final, and nothing can stop what he has planned.

This verse tells us God is like a king who looks after everything under his rule.

We see from this that our lives are not just random happenings. Every star in the sky, every creature on earth, God oversees them all with care and authority. Believing in God’s sovereignty gives us peace because we know he has good things in store for us, even when life seems uncertain or hard."

25 Bible Verses about God being in Control (With Commentary) - Bible InsideOut

  9. "Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says climate change is an “existential crisis” and the carbon tax is “the most effective way” to fight it. But he never tires of spending billions of taxpayers’ dollars in ways that show he doesn’t really believe what he says. His government boasts it has committed over $160 billion to climate spending since 2015. That’s $160 billion to what are, by the prime minister’s own labelling, relatively ineffective ways to fight an existential crisis. A reasonable person might wonder how this makes sense. There is no need to wonder too much. The answer is: Trudeau believes that both invoking climate apocalypse and wasting $160 billion so unaccountably will increase the Liberals’ votes among people who will either receive the money or are, for whatever reason, impressed by climate alarmism and reassured by government control."

Do you believe that’s an imminent risk in, say, France, Germany, Austria or Finland?

I can't speak about those countries.  France has a lot of problems.  We have some serious problems in Canada such as a failing health care system and a cost of living and cost of housing crisis.  We should focus on those problems and not try to create something new.  Canada is also different than those countries.  We are a confederation made up of ten provinces plus territories.  Some provinces might resent changing the system because it could cause provinces to lose jurisdiction of some things and make Canada more of a unitary state with more central control.  That is already somewhat of a problem.

We can be part of the Commonwealth and still be an independent republic.

We are a Constitutional Monarchy.  Trying to change that to a republic means that it would easier for a would-be dictator to take over Canada.  Right now we have the RCMP and Canadian Forces that swore allegiance to the Crown acting as a barrier to a would-be dictator taking over.  If you eliminate that, you would have little or nothing to protect the existing system.  Most countries in the world are dictatorships.  There is no guarantee that Canada would not become a dictatorship if you start changing the system.

What would be the point in changing the system anyway?  If it works now, don't fix it.

We could make some improvements such as switching to an elected Senate and a different method of selecting judges.

    1  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. {ungodly: or, wicked} 2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. {wither: Heb. fade}

4  The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5  Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6  For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. "

    "

1  Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? 2  She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. 3  She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. 4  Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man. 5  O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. 6  Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. 7  For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. {an…: Heb. the abomination of my lips} 8  All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. {froward: Heb. wreathed} 9  They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. 10  Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. 11  For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

12  I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. {prudence: or, subtilty} 13  The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. 14  Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. 15  By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. 16  By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. 17  I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. 18  Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. 19  My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. 20  I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: {lead: or, walk} 21  That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures. Why would that happen?   The UK does not govern Canada.  Do you know how the Constitutional Monarchy works?

Canada is a completely self-governing country.  We are better off being part of the British Commonwealth with a King because of the threat of China, Russia, Iran, N. Korea, etc.  United we stand.  Divided we fall.   God bless the King.

The Ireland Republic became independent long ago.  Then they declared themselves neutral and did not support the Allies in WW2 to defend against the Nazis and Hitler.   Thousands of Canadians gave their lives to defend democracy and the west against Nazism.

The Irish Republic still did not join NATO.  They are nearly useless to the western world which is always under threat by Russia and China.

That is what happens when people in the country are ignorant of how the world works and fail to appreciate how many people gave their lives in the past to defend what we have today.

In a general sense but that does not include approving of evil practices.  Some churches welcome people and at the same time approve of their unbiblical lifestyles but this is contrary to the Bible.   That would not fit the Biblical definition of tolerance.  These churches have departed from the Bible and historic Biblical Christian faith.

Other churches try to welcome everyone but that does not mean they have to approve of their lifestyle.  Tolerance does not necessarily mean one has to agree or approve of every practice.  One can be tolerant in the sense of welcoming someone if they are open to seeking guidance and help.  They try to be accepting and work with individuals through counseling, but the person has to show some willingness to change.  That would be more biblical.  I hope that makes sense.

As for the"trans" question, honestly I give it very little thought, how people choose to self identify is none of my concern.

My question is why do you care? Have you ever even met a trans person?

My guess is you have some deep seeded sexual tendencies you're trying to deny and given your diminished mental acuity and religious "beliefs" , hatred is your only coping mechanism.

I await the convoluted justification for your bigotry.

No, I never expressed hatred for anyone re the trans subject.  I simply pointed out, if you read and understood what I said, that changing sex is not natural and is unproven.  That is simply my opinion.  We all have a right to express our opinions on such subjects without being accused of hate or bigotry by people such as you.  The LGBTQ being taught to young children in schools as normal is having disastrous consequences for many young people and families.  That is why I care about it even if you don't.

I don't have an agenda to hate anyone.  My comments are simply to disagree with the ideology claiming it is a normal thing.  Unfortunately you seem to have accepted it as a legitimate.  There is no scientific method that proves trans is normal.

I accept the scientific method but it has been rejected by many scientists and people today.  Darwinism is a kind of religious ideology with many people and not supported by the scientific method.  It promotes the evil of atheism which is against reason and logic.

The PM is supposed to be overall in charge of the government and how it functions don't you think?  Or is the bureaucracy free to do whatever they feel like at taxpayer's expense?  I am afraid it does do whatever it feels like under Trudeau. He is useless and the government is out of control to a significant degree.  We have seen that on countless issues and scandals.  Things like the Arrivecan app are an example.  Foreign interference is another example.

  20. The advantage of the Constitutional Monarch is the armed forces and the RCMP swear allegiance to the monarch and this prevents a would-be little tin-pot dictator from seizing absolute power and setting up a Communist or Fascist dictatorship like north Korea or Cuba or China and eliminating all human rights and freedoms.  We have an elected Parliament now and supposed to have human rights although at times it is not perfect.  But if you get rid of the Constitutional Monarch you could be setting yourself up for an absolute dictatorship because the barrier to protect from that would be gone.

Many simple-minded people don't understand that.

So you have heard that evolution is based on science and so you believe it.  There is no real proof.  Creationist scientists are much more discerning.

The fact is rational thinking as in some of the material I posted above points to a Creator.  That is the only rational conclusion.

When you say supernatural "hooey", you demonstrate a blind bias because you give no reason for such a statement.

True science is not a blind belief in something.  The supernatural is not nonsense.  The fact is the universe and life has been found to be far more complex and even the best scientists cannot explain its origin.  It seems the more scientists think they know, the more they don't really know.  Often in science what was once believed as sound knowledge has been later rejected.

That is one reason many scientists reasonably point to an intelligent designer or Creator as the cause of the complex universe.

They have examined the theory of evolution and found it wanting and incapable of explaining things.  They found it flawed in a number of ways.  At the time of Darwin, biology and knowledge was very primitive or limited.  The basic idea Darwin had for his theory of evolution was based on something called "natural selection".  However, the idea of natural selection has been found to be faulty and not credible.  It has been rejected by many scientists.  Natural selection does not add information to the basic life forms like the DNA in cells. In Darwin's day (1800s) not nearly as much was known about biology and the basic cell's complexity.  Now many scientists believe evolution is faulty for a number of reasons.  For the theory to work, there has to be a way to add information to DNA, and the basic living organisms.  However, information is not added.  Therefore there is no way evolution would have worked.  Science has found that living organisms have vast amounts of information in order to live and function.    Evolution did not provide that information and many scientists understand and acknowledge that now.

The only possible way the vast amounts of information in cells and living beings could exist is if an incredibly intelligent designer put it there is the first place.  There is no other rational explanation for its existence.

I would much prefer to keep the discussion cool and level-headed.  Just examine the facts involved in the subject.  If examined in a rational way and you can also examine science at the same time, you will come to the conclusion that there has to be a God behind it all.  God is a supernatural being.   He is a spirit that is present everywhere.  The material universe and time itself did not just happen without a cause.  God is the cause.  No sense letting the supernatural aspect make you think it can't be true.  We must admit our human minds are very limited and do not have all the answers.

The laws of reason, cause and effect only lead to God.

  22. This fact alone should demonstrate the absolute necessity for an intelligent designer Creator.  Did you know there are biological motors.  This article and video shows that:

    "

...there are linear motors, too, including the kinesin protein that ‘walks’ as it transports essential components to where they are needed in the cell, as this video (duration 1 minute, 11 seconds) shows:6

Note that every ‘step’ the kinesin protein takes requires one ATP molecule for energy—i.e. ATP which is generated by the rotary ATP synthase motor shown in the previous video clip. The eukaryotic cell needs both of these highly complex motors to be present and fully functional—and much more besides. No wonder the Psalmist wrote …

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:14)

… and the Apostle Paul said:

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. (Romans 1:20)

Indeed, there’s no excuse! Especially as modern science continues to reveal the irreducible complexity in life’s biochemistry. This video clip (duration 2 minutes, 16 seconds) spectacularly demonstrates one essential aspect of this:7

Note that this whole system (DNA, RNA and fully functional enzyme machinery) must be present in any living cell. To get enzymes you need RNA, to get RNA you need DNA, to get DNA you need enzymes … get the picture? No one has any idea how such a sophisticated set of nanomachines could have made themselves without intelligent design. This had to be designed by a super-intelligence. This is one characteristic of the Creator of all described in the Bible: omniscient / all knowing.

What would Charles Darwin have made of all this new information available today? Even in his day, the sight of a peacock feather was enough to make him sick (!), as this one-minute video clip relates:8

We’re going downhill so fast in fact that geneticists wonder why we haven’t become extinct at least 100 times over!

I wonder if Darwin would have still come out with his theory of evolution if he had known about these biological motors.  They certainly can't be explained by evolution.  They absolutely required an intelligent designer /Creator.
