That said I bet you know precisely what God's oversight entails.

I don't claim to have all the answers.  But I have access to his written revelation, the King James Bible, and prayer.

You could have that too if you wanted.  But you must become a son of God.  Read the New Testament to find out about that.  In addition to guidance in this life, it will determine where one spends eternity.

  2. Even though our health care system is failing and needs billions of dollars more, our Canadian Forces is underfunded and is not meeting 2% of GDP for NATO, there is an affordability and a housing crisis for countless Canadians, and we are something like 40 billions dollars in debt,  the Liberal government can find the money to spend 7 billion dollars on foreign aid.  Why are they not taking care of Canadians first?

How is he doing a good job?  His job is to convince people he'd be a better PM than Trudeau.  Don't you think Trudeau is carrying most of the load on that project?

His responsibility is minor as opposition leader.  It will be higher soon.

The CPC is about 20% ahead of the Liberals.  Obviously Canadians think PP is a far better choice.  He has obviously convinced many Canadians.  That is his job. .

They were not communists, they were very right wing and often overthrew socialist governments to gain power.

I don't support them either.  Communists or Fascists, they are both evil and deny human rights.  Socialism is evil to begin with.  For Socialism or Fascism you need a dictator and no human rights, but it still creates corrupt disastrous society.

  5. A Socialist health care system with powerful unions supporting the Socialist government does not guarantee a good system.  All it guarantees is lots of job security for everyone and generous wages.  The people it is supposed to be serving are the lowest on the list of priorities.  The people running the Socialist system are taken care of first and the patients come last.

If there are not enough doctors, too bad.  If there are not enough beds, it means hallway medicine.  How many people have died waiting for care or treatments the past few years in Canada?  How many administrators have lost their jobs or been demoted because of a failed health care system?  None would not surprise me.

Elections haven't done a single tangible thing for me that I can put my finger on.

Your present motto on your posts:   "A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding."

Democracy does not guarantee things will be good;  we see the many disasters democracy has brought us, such as a housing crisis because real estate costs are out of sight, outrageous grocery prices, rampant crime with catch and release by the legal system, and a failing health care system.  Democracy brought us one of the worst governments in Canadian history.

Public oversight doesn't solve much either.  Socialism is a flawed system from the start to finish.  No amount of "oversight" can fix Socialism.

We have had tons of oversight of the public health care system, everyone watching as it has been failing and no amount of oversight has stopped the failing.   It is a total disaster for many people.  I could give you my own example of what happened to me in the public system, causing irreversible damage.  In my view it is 100% the fault of Socialism.

In fact, one modern answer to the question “Is Russia Communist”  is that it is not communist at all but in fact a deranged form of a right-wing government structure that is run by a despotic maniac. They report:

Russia is a dictatorship in all but name, controlled at the top by President Vladimir Putin with his cronies and oligarch friends below him. His party, United Russia, dominates both the legislative and executive arms of government, giving him effective free reign to run the country. As seen days ago his cabinet fears him, stumbling and trembling through a scripted attack on Ukraine while Putin basked in the array of subservience before him."

  8. People who think a Socialist system can be made good are only fooling themselves.  The ideology is flawed from top to bottom.  It is a great system for the powerful unions.  They get whatever they wish and end up controlling the system.  Canada is on a downward projectory because most Canadians fall for the lie that Socialism is good.  They don't even dare call it Socialism.  It is called public services, but it is actually a welfare state which is basic Socialism.  Most Canadians think they are entitled to everything.  This will not end well in the long run because democracy does not compensate for failing Socialist systems or systems that go broke and fall into great debt.  When many people vote, they are voting for what they think government will give them, without thinking about where the money will come from or how it will be paid for.   That is a recipe for disaster.  It is one of the weaknesses of democracy.  Socialist politicians milk it for all its worth by promising everything.  That is the way Canada is heading.

Communism is the state owning everything,

I doubt there ever was a true Communist system if you go strictly by that definition and include everyone is absolutely equal.  The Communist leaders always made sure they themselves were well taken care of and they had all the privileges while everyone else had to struggle to survive.

  10. 1 hour ago, Aristides said:

There may be a lot of Russians who yearn for the old days but Russia isn't remotely communist. Communism is the state owning everything, today's Russia concentrates wealth among its oligarchs with a dictator oligarch holding the power, the opposite of communism.

Very few of the world's autocracies are communist.

We often call them Communist because they have a lot of characteristics, i.e. absolutely no human rights.  Individuals have no human rights and can be thrown in prison indefinitely at the whim of the dictator and his puppet followers.  China calls themselves a Communist system.

When you call them dictatorships, you are letting them off very mildly.  That doesn't describe the horrific human rights violations that they inflict on many people.  Maybe you don't understand what goes on in those countries.

  11. 16 minutes ago, Aristides said:

    Russia is not communist,

No, it is not communist, but as this article indicates it is not really democratic either and there are still lots of people in Russia who believe in Communism.  But it is more of a capitalist totalitarian country.  It doesn't have democracy.  The proof is it assassinates opposition leaders as it recently did.

    "

Is Russia Communist: The Communist Party of the Russian Federation

Although president Boris Yeltsin banned the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1991, the CPRF took its place. Although United Russia has a majority of over 60%, the CPRF is the second-largest political party in Russia. This means that there are still communists in the opposition and that quite a lot of Russians still believe in communism.

The nation has evolved toward a parliamentary democracy, but as international watchdog organizations have thoroughly documented over the years, Russia’s democratic foundations remain weak. Vladimir Putin has been in power longer than most Soviet premiers and has similar levels of power. While the trappings of communism no longer remain, the effects of the ideology and the nature of power politics in Russia have a strong line of continuity with its past."

You made the promise to be a bilingual country to appease us, and it was never applied.

I am curious what you think "bilingual country" means.  I live in B.C. and everyone speaks English.  People are free to learn to speak French if they so choose.  Schools have French classes.

But nobody needs to speak French in B.C.  It is not spoken publicly anywhere I have been.

If you think it needs to be forced on everyone across Canada, you are making a serious mistake.

Nobody has the right to do that.  Everyone should be free to speak whatever language they want.  Government should not be in the business of forcing people to speak a certain language.  That is totalitarianism.  People should be free to choose what they want to speak and depending on the area they are living in, should probably choose the dominant language of that area.  But beyond that, government has no business in forcing people to speak anything in a free country.

Unless he is some kind of agent or Commie sympathizer.  There is no excuse for not knowing what is going on in the world with all the sources of information, media, internet, books, etc.  But I suspect there are a lot of Commie supporters in Canada.  They have been brainwashed by the ideology.

The NDP even has some kind of Communist bent.  All Jagmeet can talk about is the "greedy corporations".  That sounds more like a commie line.  It is meant to brainwash the masses.  Many in Canada have fallen for the Socialist lie.

Read it or don't read it.  You probably won't because you are convinced there is no threat from China and you somehow won't accept any reports from anyone to the contrary.  I don't have time to waste on someone who won't listen to anything.

Canada is loaded with entirely brainwashed Communist sympathizers.

Jagmeet is one.  All he can come up with is "the greedy corporations".  Sounds like a Communist/Marxist mantra.

Blackbird, you kinda lost me there.

You said Russia and China are not a threat to the west.

I just gave you an article with all kinds of information countering your claim.

There has been many articles, books, commentaries by experts, describing how China has a history of violating human rights, how they are a threat to the U.S., how they interfere in Canadian elections.  How China is working to become the main superpower in the world.    But you don't seem to believe or accept any of it.  You are completely out of reality.  You don't seem to know what is going on in the world.

What are you talking about?  What ordinary people?

People in China are not "free".  They are free to do what the Communist Party has decreed.

China has a history of violating human rights and this has been pointed out repeatedly by governments in the west.

China uses their agents in the west to force Chinese people in America and Canada to do their will.  They use intimidation, threats to their relatives in China.   The CCP considers Americans and Canadians of Chinese descent under the authority of China.  You don't think that is violation of human rights?  Seriously.

The director of the FBI has said that acts of espionage and theft by China's government pose the "greatest long-term threat" to the future of the US.

Speaking to the Hudson Institute in Washington, Christopher Wray described a multi-pronged disruption campaign.

He said China had begun targeting Chinese nationals living abroad, coercing their return, and was working to compromise US coronavirus research.

"The stakes could not be higher," Mr Wray said.

"China is engaged in a whole-of-state effort to become the world's only superpower by any means necessary," he added.

In a nearly hour-long speech on Tuesday, the FBI director outlined a stark picture of Chinese interference, a far-reaching campaign of economic espionage, data and monetary theft and illegal political activities, using bribery and blackmail to influence US policy.

"We've now reached a point where the FBI is now opening a new China-related counterintelligence case every 10 hours," Mr Wray said. "Of the nearly 5,000 active counterintelligence cases currently under way across the country, almost half are related to China."

The FBI director mentioned a programme called "Fox Hunt", which he said President Xi Jinping had "spearheaded" and he said was geared at Chinese nationals living abroad seen as threats to the Chinese government.

"We're talking about political rivals, dissidents, and critics seeking to expose China's extensive human rights violations," he said. "The Chinese government wants to force them to return to China, and China's tactics to accomplish that are shocking."

  17. The Governor General's position is to represent the monarchy in Canada.  It is an appointed position for a five year period.  The GG from what I understand is not supposed to be involved in politics.  The GG has certain non-partisan functions and represents the King.  Therefore it seems wrong for the present GG to be involved in promoting a proposed bill being brought forward by the Liberal government.  She was not elected by Canadians.  Yet holds a very influential position.

I think the closer a region's politics and decision making processes are to the ground that everyone calls home the better.

I am not sure what this has to do with the question of mixing private and public health care.

The health care system is failing us in a serious way.  The reason I see is because of politics, bureaucracy, powerful health care unions, and a lack of sufficient funds  This is the way of Socialism.  Socialism has failed wherever it has been tried.  Canada is no different and can expect the same results.  Public health care has been failing for years in Canada.

Countries in eastern Europe have been changing slowly ever since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989, but they have a lifespan of ten years less than western European countries.  The average person dies at 73 in Romania and in western Europe the average lifespan is 83 years.

  19. Before Quebec holds the referendum, I hope they know they are not going to take all the land that the province encompasses now.  Removing certain areas could negatively affect the rest of Canada and are not likely to be given up.  Before they actually separate, there will have to be negotiations.  They do not have the right to unilaterally declare a sovereign state of Quebec.  They are part of a confederation and the Federal government represents all of Canada under the authority of His Majesty the King. That means, separation requires negotiation.  Quebec is not a sovereign country yet and doesn't have the power by simply holding a referendum to declare themselves a sovereign state.

It's incomprehensible how people can not see drug and mental issues as health issues, only in criminal terms needing enforcement in Gestapo like responses. Stuck in 100 year old reactions that didn't ever work, and discard anything else.

Lock them up until they are ready to be rehabilitated.  Then keep them in a secure rehab centre until they are clean.   Why inflict drug addicts on society?  NDP are brainless.  NDP have no conscience and don't even try to protect society from criminals and drug addicts.  Addicts are unpredictable and some are dangerous.  The primary job of government is to protect law-abiding citizens, not criminals.

  21. CTV news just reported half of Canadians are living from pay cheque to pay cheque.  Many are facing difficult decisions because they can't make the rent payments or mortgage payments.

The health care system is in a crisis and needs major changes to vastly improve the service.

One way to do that is to increase private participation because a large enough private contribution and participation would bring in a lot money.  Medical insurance for people who could afford it could make a major contribution to improving the health care system.  We need to remember the people with more money would be contributing to the overall health care by taking the burden off the public system.

Lots of people are listening to the leftists who are driven by failed Socialist ideology and for that reason they oppose allowing private health care to join in.  They don't realize a private system would be contributing a lot of money to provide health for Canadians who could afford it.  This would make far more sense than watching people with a lot of money fly off to other countries to obtain urgent health care.  The money would be better spend in Canada and would contribute to the overall improvement of private and public health care by taking the pressure off the public system.  It would speed up the provision of urgent care for people and hopefully reduce or completely eliminate waiting times and lists.  That should be one of the goals.  This could also lengthen the average lifespan of Canadians.

We need to kick Jagmeet Singh's butt down the road.  He is obsessed with Socialist ideology and that is all he cares about.  He has no practical or real ideas to improve the health care system.  He is also beholden to the big unions that make it very difficult to improve the health care system.
