The government has to gain the confidence of the house, if it cant do it then there is procedure to follow. Ignatieff refused to answer the same question when grilled by the CBC because the answers to loaded questions always get twisted by competing parties for ammo of one sort or another. The government works the same way whether the ndp win(which they havent got a chance in hell) or the conservatives win. If the winning party doesnt gain the confidence of the house then the governor general goes to the opposition parties to see if they can work together to form a coalition. Bev Oda was a sad case of a woman who made a mistake in the way she handled a file. What went on in that meeting is up to debate. The opposition butchered that woman and made her out to be some kind of slick criminal. What a load of crap, first of all comparing our crime rate to that of the states is weak. We have a high number of reoffenders in our society who often never serve any "real" time. Conditional sentencing and probation are a joke yet they are often 50% of the sentences among the convictions. Sorry but a major assault and someone gets a conditional sentence or parole. Someone comes and breaks your knees, leaves you permanently physically and emotionally scarred taking years to get better. Hey, give him a sentence that he has to go to councilling and live with his mom. The problem in Canada is the constitution does too much to protect the individual whether he be a criminal or not and next to nothing to address the greater good of society. I knew a group of teens well when I was growing up that were caught 5 or 6 times stealing cars and selling them to gangs in Toronto where they dissappeared. Not one of them served any real time other than a night or two in jail when they got caught and not one of them has amounted to anything 20 years later. Dont give me that left wing BS that we can save them, they see no reason to stop abusing the system.

I have to agree with the second part. Its a suspected rub parlour, they raid it and let him go. Fair enough, what happened to the rest of the men there? If this was a proven rub house and they let him go, did he exert his influence as a councillor to get out of trouble. The only way to judge this would be to know whether their were arrests in the raid. As far as licensed massage parlour and asian rub and tugs I think its pretty obvious from one to the other when you walk in the door. Do they have to be licensed masseuses for the parlour to have a license? If they are not licensed masseuses in the parlour to me that would be a big strike. Like I said though, none of this story really holds water when we dont know if there were any proven charges or arrests on the raid. edit: and yes to previous conversations the CBC is HUGELY biased to the left and always has been.

Where does this crap come from? By all means vote strategically if you dont want Harper to win but essentially calling him a fascist is BS. None of your rights have been lost and this just goes to show why Harper controls his press outings and mps. Harper is about as much a fascist as Layton is a commi. I dont even know where to start on any of this and dont see any point in it. I get business much more than you seem to. Saying that its only taxes on profits is obvious but wth is the point in being in business if the profits are not high enough. Harper had as much to do with the strength of our economy staying strong as the banks did. Taxes keep going down and down? Are you freaking out of your mind? In the last quarter century we have seen the implementation of the GST which was supposed to be a stop gap tax to get us through the last recession, increased fuel taxes which are amounting to being taxed on a tax now thanks to gst, and now in B.C and Ontario the hst just slammed us. The additional hastle and cost of dealing with the hst as a contractor is painfull to say the least. The "more educated" work force you talk about is already here, we dont need to give away the education to get there, nor do we need to increase taxes to do so. When we speak about increasing taxes here it wont just be corporate, Jacks numbers are completely screwed. A 4-5% corporate tax hike on large corporations only will not pay for half the promises so you better bet that the tax cuts to small business wont be there or will simply be sucked out of us somewhere else. There is nothing, absolutely nothing that shows that a left wing government will work well at the federal level nor is there any way in hell that the country can pay for all the promises made by the liberals and ndp. Like I have said countless times less than a third of our population generates income for the economy. If you increase the public sector you decrease the ratio even further while drawing the skilled workforce into the government jobs. Only time will tell, but truthfully if the ndp manage some kind of coalition I have to believe or hope that whoever forms it with them will have the common sense to temper the spending because God knows Bob Rae sure didnt have any. edit: and mentioning gm and ford as examples of cost is assinine, currently roughly 25% of Canadians dont have coverage for things like dental and drugs much of which is covered for the poor through government subsidies already. On the private sector side it costs me about $80 per employee for short and long term dissability, medical and partial dental coverage. Get the government in this and I have no doubt the cost will triple and the bureaucracy created will bring it up another 3 or 4 times but thats what government does. Allocate money and then spend it all trying to figure out how to properly spend it .

Now it gets juicy, a lot of English Canadians believe that Quebecs demands are not unfounded and if anything all provinces should have the same control over immigration among other things. Unfortunately this does not fit in with a lot of limited minds who automatically call it a right wing attempt at americanization of the country. In my opinion trying to lump a country our size into one envelope is rediculous, east coast culture is as different to west as Quebec is to the rest of the country. That being said, true blue seperatists who "dont like english Canadians" have been brainwashed by b.s for years. Case in point when people from across Canada rallied in Montreal during the referendum Quebec media was reporting hundreds had shown up...well over 5000 left from the rally point we were at in Ottawa and it was one of several in our city alone. People wonder why so many dont trust the media. The sad part of that was it was CBC Quebec that did that report, your tax dollars hard at work.

ok well left wing is socialism to most people and so leaning left of center generally means you believe in some if not all socialist ideals. Sun media is not fox news. We complain about media bias from CBC and you make remarks about sun media. The difference here is that CBC is publicly funded to the tune of 1.1billion and refuses to even show its books. Although I am not for total privatization, private health care funded by the government would probably work a hell of a lot better than the current system. The initial design when it Douglas and the rest brought it out worked on this model and worked well. Government is only good at one thing and thats creating more government. Canada has a population of 33million, we have 13 million and change that are gainfully employed. Of those 13million 3.5million are public servants of one sort or another. That means that 10 million jobs are supporting 33million people and all the social programs that support them. Of the 9% of our population that are listed as unemployed in my opinion 4% of them have never had a job and never want one. This is your welfare crowd often encompassing 3 generations that will never be anything to society but leaches. These are the facts that make me vote conservative every time I vote. The hate and slander and lies from both side of the political spectrum have done nothing but embarrassed the people that we are supposed to be electing to lead us.

Owners would have to raise there prices, cut costs, or else shut the doors. Cost of living goes up and jobs dissappear. There is no such thing as "free" and increasing costs means costs get passed on somehow . Want a prime example of cost cutting? Enbridge which was previously consumers gas in ottawa at one point ran a fairly equal ratio between union employees and sub contractors. Now the ratio is closer to 80% contractors, the contractors sub there work to sub contractors. The sub contractors make less than the actual employees and supply there own vehicles, they work piece work and if there is not enough work for the employees the contractors get nothing. No benefits and no pay whenever its slow in the business. This is where the future is trending as it is and taxing the hell out of everyone and everything will just accellerate the process. So in the end we get poor jobs, and poor pay. Sorry but personally I am perfectly fine with paying for daycare, and paying into private businesses to manage my health insurance because I see how poorly the government can manage our money. As far as the jets go, we can have a responsibility both to the U.N and Nato to maintain a mobile capable armed force and fighter jets are parts of that.

He raided the federal pension plan and cut transfer payments to the provinces. If you truly believe free health care, dental, education and retirement plan could work then you're truly out to lunch. Who is going to pay for this?!? The vast majority of businesses can't afford more taxes or more fees. I know this because I deal with it daily. You can't bleed more money from businesses, you can't increase income taxes, and you can't increase sales taxes. People keep saying "big corporations", most small and medium businesses are corporations and I am sure we will be just a hard hit if not worse hit by the reprecussions of smilin Jack in power. Either way from the what the polls are showing at the moment us dissagreeing about this wont matter the proof will be there in a year when we have a 100billion dollar deficit and people are crying that there are no jobs and socialism failed. Left wing ideals will attract no more immigration then we are already facing now. Like I said previously the public purse is too big already but you want to essentially double it, it doesn't work.
