Truth and Reconciliation... Legitimacy
Canada_First replied to Scott Mayers's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
how do we know for sure that all those people are telling the truth? I wouldn't put it past some to lie so they can get a large settlement whenever the govt decides to pay out. -
Crime wave now spreads in US

Wagons in Canada don't have seatbelts either. We have two kinds of wagons here. We have the ones where it's a big open space in the back with a horseshoe shape steel benches and we have the ones where the back in divided into two halves down the middle with the seating facing the side of the van. both of these van types also come with front compartments where they put PC's or women or YO's. -
Aren't you the same fellow who was a commercial jet pilot? I find it weird that you flew jets around the world polluting the Earth like crazy but now that you're done with your career and retired you can now turn around and say that we better stop doing that. Seems a little hypocritical to me. I'm not attacking you or trolling or anything. I'm just curious about where you're coming from since you've spent your adult life polluting the Earth in a way and at a rate that most of us could never do. If that's not you please disregard. On the main point, oil isn't going away any time soon but we definitely should be investing in alternative fuel sources and perfecting them for when the time comes when the oil is gone. We're not at the point where we can give up our reliance on oil just yet. I think the technology is seriously about 50 years away until we can seriously each have our own power plants at our houses and have our cars run off water or hydrogen or electricity.

If they're so superior why aren't they in power in every province and territory and running Canada forever? -
NDP Make Big Move in Latest EKOS Poll

Can they keep this peak going for 5 months? I guess we shall see.I'll be surprised if they win but will be happy as my pension will go up from the government. So that'll be good. -

A nation is allowed to take over neighbour's lands. Spoils of war. Palestine is not a recognized state by anyone of official nature. They're run by a terrorist organization. Two of them actually. The same people who planned Munich are now acting like sheep as they launch rockets into Israel. They need to stop attacking Israel. -

What proof gave you got that any of that actually happened? People lie, especially when a lot of money is involved. They're asking for a Trillion dollars here at least. So I'll need more than a First Nation persons story. I need verifiable proof. -

So what's the solution? Give them all a 100,000 a year? Actually that would be cheaper then what we're doing now... -
NDP Make Big Move in Latest EKOS Poll

Every single one of them has gone down in flames. Look at Manitoba. The citizens of that province cannot wait to get rid of them. They're as good as gone. BC same thing. Nova Scotia was a bomb as well. Ontario they went from a majority to 4 seats. Yeah they've done great. What was I thinking....:/ -

are you suggesting that had the NDP held the PMO for the last ten that they would have been more fiscally conservative? -

You think once they raise taxes and triple the national debt they can stay in power? Plus the Senate us stacked with Tories so Mulcair will be unable to do anything crazy. He'll just be a placeholder PM.Plus if he's peaking now. It's too soon. You think they can hold momentum over the summer? I have no horse in the race as I'm retired and on a pension. So it makes no difference to me who wins as my income us fixed. I guess with the NDP I may see a rise but that's it. This election is more about what the younger generation want for the future of the country. -
The more I read these forums the more it appears that this site has a few people who exhibit trollish type behaviour. I'm sure they'd be loathe to admit it however but there it is.

If they love Canada as I do then why would they want to change it so drastically? You change things you don't like.

What do you define as doing whatever they want? -
The courts have already ruled that doing that goes against the spirit of Parliament.

Why not elect senators? Let the people decide. That's democracy.

Any internet forum will always have trolls on it or people who maybe like to try to anger other posters. It will never go away. I think that if the moderators banned everyone who someone thought was a troll we'd have no one on this board at all. I'm sure everybody would point to everyone else at one time or another. Seems to me that some people are far too sensitive, no matter the particular political stripe. This is a place for discussion with almost every poster having a slightly differing opinion, just like the real world. I suggest we all get used to not always agreeing with everyone and not get offended. We all know that people in our society are constantly being offended. Well, you're going to be offended, so just get used to it and get on with it.

If they get a majority, it's not possible to hold them accountable. I have to wait 5 years to hold them accountable. I'm truly afraid that the NDP will destroy Canada. Sometimes it seems like the NDP doesn't like Canada. If they did it wouldn't need to be changed so drastically.

Sometimes girls just cry. even for no reason. It's just the way they are. At least in my experience. -

I don't think anyone's arguing that "Forced assimilation" is/was a good thing. You're losing me on the motive...you're saying it was to "take control of their land". We were already here by the time this came about. We already had control of the land so I'm just not seeing this as the motive. Also I'm not sure that we should be apologizing continuously. We have apologized, let's move on. Nothing more can be gained from this. Are the Native people after money? It seems they are interested in putting a guilt trip on the people of Canada. Why? What purpose is this going to serve? -
Poochy, that is an excellent post. I completely agree with you. I have voted in all directions at one time in my life or another and am considering voting for the NDP. The NDP scare me though so I'm not sure yet. I need to see more from these leaders. For me Mr. Trudeau is not getting my vote for sure, 100% no. He's just too young and not ready to lead a country. I can see him PM in 5-10 years but not yet, it is too soon. I also haven't thought about how uncompromising the "left wing" is in this day and age but it seems true doesn't it. Anywhere where you hear left wing types they are fanatical about their positions and are unwilling or unable to compromise at all. Not even a little bit. They seem to take an extremist position. Meanwhile expecting everyone else to compromise fully while they needn't move an inch. I too am worried about their end game. Is it full on communism? I don't know. That's what scares about the NDP. I see the nightmare that the UK is in right now due to "left wing" management. I don't want that for Canada.

I don't see how wanting to include the Native people into the modern ways of our society as being a bad thing or "cultural genocide"? Is it your position that any assimilation is "cultural genocide"?
