A journalist reporting things that the government did not like was murdered by the Iranian government and you compare this to the incarceration of someone who the US had good reason to believe was culpable in the death of a US citizen?
I'm sure that's what you believe.

WWWT you want talk double standard? Finish it then. Explain how you apply the standard you do to Iran.
Explain how you conveniently ignore its violations of human rights and its financing of terrorism world wide?
Double standard? It begins and ends with you and pro Iranians on this board who pretend Iran is a moral regime.
No more a regime than the conservative government.
You really like to use labels, wishy washy words and other terms that have uncertain meanings to paint an picture don't you?
Then you make claim of what posters on this board believe.
Old fashioned debate tactics you're using my friend.

Two wrongs make an acceptable moral value says WWWT.
Logic at its best.
Don't know what you're writing about here???

It doesn't make a lot of difference whether you hit someone with and axe or with a car doing more than 50 km.over the speed limit.
Nobody said anything about an car accident where one of the vehicles was traveling at more than 50km of the posted speed limit.
That is another event.

What about if you're caught trying to hit someone with an axe?
You have a victim/witness.
As well, now you're getting into an complicated involved event where the police would be investigating and interviewing more than one person before laying any charges.

Not unless Iran makes amends for torturing and murdering Canadian journalists
So when is the US going to make amends for Canadians like Khadr whom was tortured by them?
Double standard!

If you're caught hitting someone with an axe, they'll take the axe away too.
Bad example because when you hit someone, you will actually hurt someone.

In Ontario, if you're caught going 50 kms over the limit you immediately get your car impounded for 7 days. Sounds like a presumption of guilt to me.
Damn straight it is!
A breathalizer can also act like a judge and jury and take your license away. Guilty until proven innocent!

Israel's nuclear arsenal and capacity is not a secret. Double standard?
Man you like laughing at your own jokes hey.
Never said their nukes were a secret.
I asked when the inspectors WERE GOING TO INSPECT THEIR FACILITIES!
And I found out that Israel has something in common with North Korea!
Still find THAT funny?

If you are pardoned your record will show up clean for instance if you need a background check for a job. The the record still exists but is held separately.
Ya but your claim is incorrect. Only one group has access to it, the minister of public safety.

The national parole board and the RCMP
Did a search and sounds like you're wrong.
Who can reveal my pardoned/suspended record?
Under the CRA, only the Minister of Public Safety Canada has the authority to disclose information from a pardoned/suspended record. This happens ONLY in exceptional circumstances. If, for example, a subsequent serious criminal offence is committed the file may be re-opened. As long as you do not re-offend, no one will ever be able to gain access to your pardoned/suspended criminal record.
Taken from here.

Not an easy find. Looks like the government isn't really that open with this.

Oh shut up, you ass. I've never bought a lottery ticket in my life. I've never counted on winning the lottery to secure my future.
Topaz asked "what if?" It's fun to dream. Have you never once imagined "what if?"

I don't like shut up, I like 7-up!

That's uncalled for man! If you re-read the post I replied to, it proclaims a lack of humility by "others in regards to acknowledging misunderstandings"... you only need to read the follow-up post to mine to see exactly where they guy was coming from. In that context, the originator has absolutely no claim on "expressed humility relative to acknowledging misunderstandings"!
Ok I'm not going to get involved in this but I see where you're coming from.

Israel is not a signatory to the NPT.....Iran is.
Hey look at that, they have something in common with North Korea!
The US is also a signatory country. When are inspectors going to check them out?

that's rich... coming from you!

That's uncalled for man.
He just posted something I wasn't entirely educated on and I thanked him for it.

You're welcome. I apologize for the "bold" lettering on my post. It's nice to see someone who acknowledges when they might misunderstand something. Humility is sadly lacking for some posters.
I honestly only thought it was every four years. But it's more than that as you have pointed out.
More ignorance as opposed to misunderstanding.
I still think it's a dumb law because this is something already covered in the charter.

You understand wrong. Of course it has nothing to do with the individual who has the record...(Ezra or anyone else) it has t do with who can see it after a pardon.
I thought when you were given a pardon, then that's it, your record is sealed.
If not then who can "unseal" to view?

I sincerely hope Trump wins the GOP nomination. He has way more entertainment value than Perry, or Bush,... or Cruz for that matter. Just make sure to keep him away from dangerous toys like the launch codes.
I don't think they give those things to the GOP presidential candidate.

You have no idea what Obama "felt"....with or without Trump. Keep guessing.....
Just going by comments that he made .
I doubt you're an expert on Obama feelings.

You understand wrongly. Here's the legislation, courtesy of Elections Canada:

Ok then thanks for the link.

Not NOBODY, but close.
From my understanding it is nobody.
Who would be the exemption? I seriously doubt it would ever be Ezra?

The article had nothing to do with the date of the election - it was about when the writ would be dropped. Any chance you might admit you had it wrong?
As I understand it, Harper already broke his own law. For the second time!
Election every 4 years. Not 4.5 years. Last election was May 2nd 2011. So the next one should have been May 2nd 2015, 4 years.
