  1. You said 'before the bombing' which, in keeping with your accusation that Stephen Harper's bombing is causing refugees quite obviously led me to believe you meant the recent attempts to harm ISIS by air.
  2. Well, I would say your reply was uninformed. No one can make a case that Muslims would, on the whole, make better immigrants than Christians, and no one can make the case that Muslims are in more danger in that part of the world than Christians. I don't hate Muslims but I heavily disapprove of the gender hatred which is embraced by that religion. I would not want a lot of Serbians coming to Canada either. But I'm more concerned with the gender hatred embraced by so many Muslims, and do not want to import it to Canada. The raping and enslaving of non-Muslim girls by ISIS is, according to them and many other Muslims, acceptable under their religion. In Sweden, we have seen the rape rate skyrocket since its government began to take in Muslim immigrants and refugees. In the UK we have seen a series of Muslim gangs arrested for the rape and sexual abuse of underage British girls. And in Canada, I have to tell you as the father of three daughters, that their encounters with Muslims in school and outside of it show the general lack of respect Muslim males have for girls and women. I do not think bringing in more Muslims will make this a better country for my daughters in the future.
  3. I would not say all, for sure. But I think Christians would integrate easier, are in more danger, and are less likely to have values of gender hatred.
  4. Well that's a startling claim! Can you back it up!? I heard the term on an episode of The West Wing. It means I am a Citizen of Rome. I don't know why white nationalists outside Italy would make use of such a term, particularly since such people tend not to respect Italian Catholics much. I just googled the term and find no racial connotations involved.
  5. Do you blame the man who ran up the huge debt, or the man stuck with the bills afterward? Apparently you blame the latter while defending the former.
  6. Well I don't know about 4,000 but on the other hand, why wouldn't they smuggle some of their people into Europe this way? It's pretty easy. None of the migrants have papers so there's no way to identify them. And the first time there is a terrorist attack which can be traced to one of these migrants most European leaders are going to look like total idiots, particularly Angela Merkel and Stefan Löfven. It could even cause their governments to fall, if the incident is severe enough.
  7. Most of those questions would be on why so many immigrants are failures in Canada.
  8. Good! Our immigration system at least screens immigrants to some extent. Most refugees are just would-be immigrants who jump the queue and then tell a lie to gain admittance and eventual citizenship.
  9. In the Canadian context, refugees are immigrants, since we send no one back to their home countries after there is peace. And since most refugees are really economic migrants, there really isn't a lot of difference between the two categories.
  10. Do you not think it odd Canada, a country far from the world's trouble spots, with a small population, would ever be as high as five on such a list? I do! This country is much harder to reach than European countries, or countries even closer to world trouble spots. I think your list reflects geography more than generosity. The United States, I've heard, has committed to taking 60,000 Syrians. That's six times Canada's commitment, but the US has 10 times Canada's population. So Harper has actually been much more generous than Barrack Obama. I don't see him being attacked as cruel and heartless, though. I also don't see him being blamed here for the mess in the ME. Instead it's Harper's fault somehow...
  11. Yes, without question. Probably too generous.
  12. Oh yes. Two Indians washed up on Canada's shore the other day, trying to swim to the US across the St. Lawrence River. I don't see any chestbeating over this incident, no cry that we should make citizenship available to the poor Indians fleeing poverty.
  13. As I said, I would be willing to accept a higher number of refugees if they are Christians. This for two reasons. First, I believe Christians anywhere in that area are in real danger from Muslim extremists. There is nowhere they can be safe. Second, they can be integrated much more easily into Canada.
  14. I didn't say the camps were short term. I think I've said the opposite. You are becoming confused.
  15. The people in half the countries on earth would be safer here. And there would be no Canada. I'm not willing to make that tradeoff. You want to help a small tithe of them, which is understandable, but to think that's going to have an substantal or even noticeable impact on the situation there is foolishness.
  16. And blankets. Don't forget the blankets.
  17. It was that his government expanded upon policies of the Liberals which led to the annihilation of his party. It proved to be nothing more than a sham liberal party. I have not spoken to one person in the last year who is enthusiastic about bringing in more Muslims to Canada.
  18. Aren't you people trying to have it both sides? You're comparing us to countries which do that and trying to shame us for not taking in more - as they are.
  19. It is far cheaper to look after refugees where they are, and where prices are so much cheaper, than bringing them to Canada, and there is most unlikely to be any economic benefit to them coming. Rather, the cost will be huge and will last for a lifetime.
  20. ISIS came to be before the bombing started. The bombing was a response to ISIS brutality, murder and genocide.
  21. And then everything will be peace and joy and brotherhood in the middle east?
  22. Do you? Sell your house, offer up the money to sponsor up a family. Don't offer my money to assuage your guilt.
  23. I think Army Guy pinned it. These people are wringing their hands with guilt and want to fill the country with Muslims from the third world to feel better. They don't think about what happens weeks, months and years down the road, about the costs in money, the costs in rioting and violence.
