  1. The entire culture is based on hate and fear of women, and controlling them through violence. Why would they NOT be more prone to acts of violence against women?
  2. The only point you seem to be good at bolstering is your almost complete lack of knowledge on the subject.
  3. The West didn't start the Syrian crisis. Nor, despite suggests to the contrary, did it instigate it. It was a spillover from the Arab Spring. At first it seemed that it might pose a chance for a real change there, since the largest rebel group fighting Assad was a multi-party secularist group. But the West dithered about offering any real support. Meanwhile the likes of the Saudis and the gulf states poured money into other rebel groups, the religious zealots, of course. These thrived and grew, not only fighting Assad but destroying or absorbing other rebel groups who could not match their equipment. Now ISIS is the foremost group there, and the thought of them taking over from Assad is extremely unpallatable.
  4. So you're saying women are not raped on the streets in Egypt? They are not beaten in other Muslim countries in appalling numbers? And do you actually think some Muslim woman, who I'm sure you were never allowed to be alone with, is going to tell you about how her husband beats her?
  5. Would you be in favor of any opposition to a dictator which didn't depose him? Aren't such things as sanctions also designed to eventually depose a dictator? Are you in favour of any kind of real opposition to dictators and if so what kind? A stern note to convey our dissaproval, perhaps?
  6. Do you have daughters? Do you know any young women? If you know any young women in a city which has Muslims you might ask them about their experiences with Muslim men.
  7. Citizen, you are completely ignorant of the extent of Muslim violence towards women and children. You complain about the violence in Canada, which is an enlightened, civilized western progressive nation, yet that violence exists amid many laws against it, and a myriad of organizations trained and dedicated to dealing with it. How can you imagine that in the rougher, more violence prone Muslim world with its extreme religious beliefs, where there are no such laws and no such agencies that violence would be far and away worse? How is that in any way logical to you?
  8. I'm confused about your position. Other than anything Harper does is bad, of course. You condemn opposing dictators but at the same time you say you're not in favour of keeping them in power.
  9. More likely you people have no actual understanding of the nature/degree of domestic violence in the Muslim world.
  10. You are writing out of extreme ignorance. There has never been a perfect society and likely never will be one. But our societies in the west have striven to do all they can to reduce if not eliminate violence and sexual violence towards the weak. There are many laws and policies and systems and organizations in place to help women and children and to punish offenders. There are no such laws or organizations in place in Muslim societies, where women are considered the property of their husbands and fathers, and where disciplining them is considered a man's right. You will find no statistics on child abuse in Muslim countries either, for such things would never be reported. In fact, I would say the Muslim world has an unhealthy degree of acceptance for sex with children. Apparently the prophet Muhammed married a 9 year old girl, and so in many Muslim countries it is considered allowable to marry children and have sex with them. The rape gangs of Muslim immigrants in the UK have shown a preference for underage non-Muslim girls they can groom and abuse and pass around among themselves, and this is a matter of public record.
  11. This is apologizing for rape and murder. You are trying to excuse the extreme gender hatred of Muslim nations, and that is really a horrible thing to do. Yes, there will always be violence towards the weak, but our society has been progressing nicely in protecting them. There is no such protection available to women in Muslim nations, and in most cases they won't even record violence against women because they believe it is a man's right to discipline his women. How dare you try to downplay this and pretend it doesn't exist!
  12. It is always a mistake to use terms like 'every' or 'all' when speaking of a community. But I have to say that my three daughters have had experiences with Muslims and the Muslim boys and men they have met so far are single-minded in their attitudes that girls who are not muslims are there for sex and only for sex. They have no respect for them, and get extremely angry and insulting when turned down because they expect to be welcomed since they believe non-Muslim girls and women are whores.
  13. I have seen no real appetite for democracy in the Muslim world. Even where one takes place, usually imposed from outside, the locals only care about which tribe has power and it quickly breaks down. You should look into honor killings in the middle east. See if you can find anyone who has been severely punished for murdering their daughter or sister because they thought her behaviour was shameful. Try to find any case where a man was severely punished for beating his wife, much less for raping her. It might happen occasionally. Who knows? But it is a rare thing.
  14. If Libya had been left 'alone' what do you think would have happened?
  15. You can't compare the discrimination against women which still exists in our society to what exists in Muslim societies. It would be like comparing the racism which still exists in our society to the racism which existed in 1950s Alabama. Far and away lower. I am no expert in religion, but I would say both Christianity and Islam saw women as nothing more than baby makers, while at the same time feared them as a temptation to sin. Western society has tended over the centuries, to diminish its concern with 'sin' and the Churches, being made up of members of western society, have followed suit. The Muslim world has not. Women are still seen as wickedly sinful, and tempting men into sin. That is why they wear those all over coverings to hide their bodies, their hair, and often their faces. And the punishment for sin is still violent in the Muslim world. That is why you can be executed for blasphemy or offending God, or doing any number of other things considered sinful under that religion. You can be whipped for drinking alcohol or have your hand cut off for stealing a loaf of bread. You can be stoned to death for adultery. Women in Muslim lands are the chattel of their husbands and fathers, with few, if any rights. And you can imagine what men from these lands think of Canadian women and girls! If they think a woman who shows her hair is a wicked sinner imagine what they think of a girl in a bikini! My daughters have already run across such men at the beach, and their sons at school. Their attitude towards women is appalling. Many see non-Muslim women as nothing more than whores, and whores in Muslim countries, tend to be imprisoned or executed. At least we, as a society, are doing our best to address that, to protect women, to punish men who beat women. There are no such efforts in the Muslim world, where courts have actually ruled that the Koran permits men to physically beat their wives and children, within certain boundaries. They are not supposed to bruise their faces, for example. We see honour killings common in many Muslim societies, where young women are murdered by their own families for the suspicion they may not be entirely chaste. These killings are rarely punished because the police do not care what happens to women any more than the courts do.
  16. So would you be in favour of keeping Assad in power in Syria on the same basis?
  17. I thought we were speaking of refugees in general who have come to Canada over the years, and which has caused the government to tighten up rules. I am still waiting, by the way, for you to provide some backup to your claim that the name I've chosen here is in some way associated with white nationalists.
  18. I don't know what the religious 'right' is. I would suppose those folks who are religious tend to also be fairly conservative, but I haven't heard that they want to execute people for blasphemy or for proselytizing, or for being homosexual or offending God. And I haven't heard them say those who are non Christians are fair game to be used, raped or killed if you want to. So I think your equating them with Muslim fanatics is completely out of line.
  19. Do you want us to?
  20. I am not by any means suggesting that a large group of the migrants are criminals, but I think it only sensible that there will be criminals among them. I mean to say, if I was a Syrian criminal and knew the pickings were far better and the punishments far less in Europe, I would want to go there. I would join the throngs marching to Turkey and through there to Greece. So yes, there will most certainly be a lot of criminals among the millions of refugees headed to Europe. It is good to be generous, but we should be generous with our own people first. There are waiting lists for public housing in every city, for example, long ones. Where are these ten or twenty or thirty thousand immigrants the Liberals and New Democrats want to bring over immediately going to live? They are clearly going to push aside all the Canadians waiting for public housing, because of the urgency of arrival with no shelter. Sweden has generously offered to take in all Syrians who show up. Well, according to the paper today there are half a million people right now waiting for housing in Stockholm alone. There is a severe shortage of rental accommodations. The average wait is 9 years. How would you feel if you were Swedish and had been waiting for years and suddenly your government generously offers places to tens of thousands of foreigners coming in? I do not worry much about race. I worry about religion, and the gender hatred which seems to be common among Muslims from that area I have three daughters, and they have already experienced it. I have seen it myself. Google Sweden and rape, or google the UK and its Muslim gangs who rape and abuse young girls. There seems to be a religious edict in Islam that it's okay to rape women who are not Muslim. That is the basis of ISIS raping young girls and trading in sex slaves. There are also riots among Muslims in Sweden, in France and in the UK.
  21. That is quite true, but one which is easy to forget.
  22. I think it's only common sense that Christians will be a better fit here, since whatever female hatred their society has will fade quickly in the Canadian context. This is clearly not the case with Muslims.
  23. Harper is correct in that housing a few tens of thousands of refugees will do nothing to help the millions and tens of millions in danger. It will make some of you liberals feel better about yourself, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking there is any other accomplishment in bringing them here. If you want to help the millions and tens of millions you need to do something to end the war.
  24. From what I've read very few are people fleeing persecution. Most are simply fleeing poverty and instability.
  25. The refugees will become immigrants. So it would be smart to be selective.
