Euthanasia By James Bredin Assisted suicide should be an easy decision, People should be allowed to end their lives with precision, Forget locked-in sanctimonious religious stuff, Democracy; the will of the people should be enough. We should just pass a law and fill in all the details, No need to get worked up about this or send e-mails, No need to be sick for years just lying around, Sign the papers, take the pills and down in the ground. Call family and friends together on the appointed day, Tell them you’re going to die and there’s no other way, Maybe say goodbye and have a little cry, The final decision is yours; when and where to die. No need to live in a seniors’ place for years and years, Or to die slowly sick in hospital amid your fears, Just tell the undertaker where to shove you in, You can beat them all and go out with a grin. Da Vinci Code and the Bible By James Bredin Who has the correct version of the bible these days? Who wrote it, in what language and why the nightmare? And does it matter or does anyone really care? Are those who saw Da Vinci Code movie in despair? Was Mary Magdalene a hooker or did they malign? Did they change that claim back in nineteen sixty nine? And if they changed things; how much more did they change? How much of the bible is fiction and how much was arranged? Which version is true because I’m very concerned? Battles were fought about this and many martyrs burned, Could this changed bible issue be much bigger than it seems? The Holy See has never condoned Gnostic regimes. Did someone say they were going to burn that book? Inquisition reorganized to investigate and look, It’s the Internet that caused it – too much secular stuff, Women want to be priests now and the church has had enough. Peacekeepers in an AIDS infected place By James Bredin Conspiracies of silence and indifference out there, Hammered in by reality genocide and despair, As international goody-two-shoe socialists howl, African Union troops in Darfur have thrown in the towel. Left-wing newspapers show the pictures every day, The dead, the dying, the starving kids on display, Places that are all members of the United Nations, Still they point the finger and make more accusations. As Sudan spirals downwards all the way to hell, And in Darfur the dead bodies can cause an awful smell, Where the history of their peace agreements mean nil Though they live on humanitarian aid or starve still. Does all this stuff make sense at the United Nations? Where they say they don’t want help but send large $donations, Activists, petitions and marches and names wall to wall, Want atrocities stopped when they march, scream and call. But why send peacekeepers to an AIDS infected place, Could this epidemic come home and slap us in the face? But our goody-two-shoe politicians want to fix the world, With their big UN peacekeeping flags unfurled. We got what we deserve when McGinty got in power. He is a prime example of why we need referendums and recall of unworthy politicians. He may indeed be worse than Bob Rae if that is possible.

Last Sunday, one of my sons was advised by a priest at mass that they are not to see this Da Vinci movie. I wonder what the punishment might be for disobeying such an order. Could it be excommunication? I had no intention of going to see this movie but because of this order, I am now very interested.
