TimG you offer nothing to this discussion you have not demonstrated any climate trends, but instead have your head in the sand. It is you who is purporting nonsense and me supplying facts based on not only future projections but also decades of research findings which sadly fell short of what actually occurred. Not to be alarmist but DING DING DING. Where is your evidence of a stable future environment, stability in past weather patterns, and stable ice shelves and water levels? What is your explanation for increasing global temperature? Or are you saying that the global temperature isn't rising, water levels aren't rising and the polar regions aren't melting? Seriously? Your position is absurd and frankly not based in reality. here is your chance to show the facts. The world is waking up to people like you and your dangerous threat to society and the planet http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/11924776/Judges-plan-to-outlaw-climate-change-denial.html Judges plan to outlaw climate change 'denial’ A semi-secret, international conference of top judges proposed to make illegal any opinion that contradicted climate change You are a real threat to the human race. It is fraud in the worst kind. http://instituteforenergyresearch.org/analysis/india-triple-co2-emissions-new-climate-commitment/

Who the hell cares what I look like, you write like one and that is what is important here. TimG I really hope you are just a troll because if you aren't please just sit down and remain silent. You will get us all killed if you continue to just say cause the future hasn't happened, we just don't know. Sorry man there is a lifetime of information that indicates this stuff has been happening. Often times it has underestimated what has happened. Obviously you aren't looking more carefully because you are taking a line that will get us all killed. You are in the boat with the urine drinkers and flat earthers with your climate change denial. It is very pathetic. I'm hoping you can just realize once the ice is gone it is gone. I could supply you with a lifetime of scientific data but I doubt you would even look at it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7iEYgb50yc http://www.upi.com/Science_News/2015/10/12/Study-Melting-of-Antarcticas-ice-shelves-to-intensify/1801444662959/ http://www.nature.com/ngeo/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/ngeo2563.html It gets worse... Its not a linear relationship, it is exponential.

TimG you are a troll. Thank God the masses are not as ignorant and evil as you are in denying what is actually going on. I can understand you saying its just business but denying this stuff is absolutely disgusting. People should be able to make informed choices, something you appear unable to do. So you are saying all the major scientific outlets, the US government, national geographic, major science journals, and antarctic geologists are all just Green Peace puppets? Dear God, the fact speak for themselves, you are denying the obvious. Are you a flatearther too? How about we are all dead in 50 years if this stuff isn't manage appropriately. You are not taking all inputs into account. THE ICE IS MELTING FROM THE TOP AND THE BOTTOM, THE SHELVES ARE "BREAKING OFF" meaning they will float away and melt in the water, not the air. You are not accounting for "breakage of really really really big, like bigger than the city you live in chunks of ice breaking off and falling into the ocean. You are not accounting for the active volcanos that will be uncovered as this ice breaks up that will spew out sulfur and large quantities of CO2. Whole islands of ice may slide into the ocean due the way the topography lies in some parts. The North including greenland are growing beyond what was expected. Understand the levels were vastly underestimated as certain effects were not taken into consideration such as the jet stream resulting in melting at far higher rates in some years due to extended warm exposures. Taking the status quo and applying it to a growing MORE Extreme environment is not going to get accurate results. The status quo doesn't exist anymore, it is creating new anarchistic climate patterns. THIS IS CLIMATE CHANGE, not the issue of global warming - global warming is like someone kicking your shin, CLIMATE CHANGE IS SOMEONE DRIVING A MAC TRUCK INTO YOU. I am guessing you think NASA is just another manifestation of green peace too huh? http://climate.nasa.gov/scientific-consensus/ Statement on climate change from 18 scientific associations "Observations throughout the world make it clear that climate change is occurring, and rigorous scientific research demonstrates that the greenhouse gases emitted by human activities are the primary driver." That is an absolute lie. I can't believe you are trying to push that as truth. CO2 doesn't kill things, you are completely WRONG, it DOES. You are the fool buddy. The fact you can't accept simple science is beyond me. http://www.bu.edu/animalcare/lasc-bumc/guidelines/3-level-page/ http://www.achd.net/food/pubs/pdf/2013_CO2_A_Silent_Killer.pdf You are a moron if you think CO2 isn't lethal. Dude negative consequences to date ---- zero you are out of touch. It is VERY CLEAR Notice how 400 isn't even on the graph??!! Wake the heck up. If this was a gas oil price differential chart I think you'd agree that prices correlate. IT CORRELATES STOP YOUR NONSENSE. We have more problems than the warming... there are a bunch of potential problems - pole reversal, total melting of the caps and even an ice age after massively high temperatures. This doesn't mean we will escape the increase but it means we will potentially have some major earth ending problems. It all depends on how the peaks and troughs lie and the rate of change, that is our ability to adapt to it. We are speeding up a process of change, and how long it can be maintained is questionable. The problem is, if you warm stuff up too much then we are screwed, if we don't protect from the next ice age we are screwed. Canada particularly since we would be covered in an ice sheet. The effects of non-homeostasis would be very very bad. Eearth needs to get its sh1t together. Because it is a bigger problem than a few degrees temperature change. 1. We have to deal with the "warming" increase in ocean levels. (we are talking a lot of the planet under water you know everything 30 feet or less above sea level being gone.) 2. Then we need to deal with the potential cooling and new ice age. I know you'd love Montreal to be the next Atlantis but a lot of cities are ocean side and a lot of nuclear plants too. These are real issues that are going to need a lot of planning to work around. http://geology.com/sea-level-rise/ THERE IS LIKE 60 METERS OF OCEAN RAISE ICE WAITING TO MELT Florida would be under water, cuba would be three islands etc.. netherlands under water, half a belgium THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE. saint john halifax vancouver GONE. tokyo, manhattan, london, shanghai, beijin hundreds of millions GONE This on a much much smaller planet. This is the lesser problem that you think the syrian refugee crisis of a few million is bad news, we are talking the biggest refugee crisis of all time. The issue is MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/ Trust me if antartica ice cover goes we are talking being back in time to the age of dinosaurs.. 40 million years ago . this is much like terraforming 50 years is a long time but we are talking the end of the planet as we know it. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/oct/12/antarctic-ice-melting-so-fast-whole-continent-may-be-at-risk-by-2100 THIS IS A BIG DEAL. we are talking massive changes to ocean and atmospheric patterns which will cause some big problems for europe particularly britain. http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=jetstream-tutorial;sess= Notice how the jet stream also goes over much of Canada.... Remember the polar vortex.. http://climatestate.com/2014/01/05/polar-vortex-jet-stream-and-climate-change/ bear in mind the oceans are sucking up CO2.. however once the ice is gone, no can do. It is underestimated. http://www.sciencetimes.com/articles/6659/20150524/once-solid-peninsula-in-antarctica-begins-to-melt.htm Although a polar shift if more unthinkable than all this other stuff "The amount of ice that is being lost in this area is so large that it is causing minute shifts in the gravity field of the entire planet" Change in gravity field = change of magma position = MORE EARTHQUAKES and volcanic bursts. http://www.livescience.com/22878-magma-movements-gravity-changes.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_volcanoes_in_Antarctica http://www.livescience.com/46194-volcanoes-melt-antarctic-glaciers.html Its not just above but below too... http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2013/13/131118-antarctica-volcano-earthquakes-erupt-sea-level-rise-science/ THE POINT THEY ARE DOMINOES CO2 output is just one of the dominoes that will help the others fall. "The volcano is covered by more than half a mile (one kilometer) of ice, so it would have to be an extraordinarily powerful eruption to breach the surface."

Connect your head to an exhaust pipe and look for the harms. We know the stuff is bad, it causes cancer, has enveloped urban areas in a chemical blanket, has caused massive health problems in places such as china were the exposure rates are sped up, and that it causes even local environmental effects. We know the composition of the atmosphere has massive effect on what type of weather and temperature we have. There are no unknowns here. When this stuff is in the air it kills us, when it is in the water it kills us. This stuff is just another form of uranium, it is only good in the ground or under closed loop controlled processes. Can we not learn from the mistakes and realize dumping waste into the water and air kills stuff including us and destroys our quality of life. Wake up. IT IS PLAINLY OBVIOUS. DO YOUR OWN Experiement hook your head up to an exhaust pipe or just breath what is coming out of it for 5 minutes and see how you feel or get some crude and chow down. Don't be a moron, the stuff is bad to put into the environment. Denying that helps no one. If you want to argue making people sick to make money is good do that argument but don't present a moronic premise that fossil fuels are good for the environment - you are coming off as a shill. This is just a game of how much it takes to make people ill, how much it takes to kill them, and how heavily an atmospheric composition effects the suns effects on the earth. THIS IS SIMPLE SCIENCE. There is a whole lot more at play regarding ocean temperatures, the jet stream etc.. but you can't avoid the first step to looking at that equation. It is fueling rapid change. Sure change would probably happen anyway but not for a few hundred years as opposed to decades, it is speeding things up and that will have more noticeable environmental effects as nature takes time to adapt. Destroying ecosystems means it won't recover. You know after the last ice age in Europe it took a while (Centuries) for some fish to repopulate the lakes and rivers. Sure we can factory farm stuff these days, but there are going to be higher costs associated with fixing the problems and we would be better off just giving money to big oil not to put oil on the market to save us money in the future. Meanwhile big oil is paying its business partners to keep using it. Its bad it changes the atmosphere, the atmosphere has noticeable environmental effect. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/co2-levels-for-february-eclipsed-prehistoric-highs/ If you are still debating if this is real, you are a troll. We need to accept the facts and realize that by 2030 we will likely be in the 430PPM or higher range unless things change, actually it could be 450PPM or higher if things continue to grow in terms of how much oil we produce, these rig counts and increases in oil supply and use mean the rate will go up. We will find it hard to reduce the 2PPM per year range, and we are more likely to see that go up unless proactive steps are made. Sure we aren't going to drop dead in the next 50 years from CO2 levels but it is going to have effects should be get there. We are there http://400.350.org Do you know that smell in Toronto Ok so outside will not stink everywhere but some places already do. Complaints of stiffness and odors: 600 - 1000 ppm ASHRAE and OSHA standards: 1000 ppm general drowsiness: 1000 - 2500 ppm adverse health effects expected: 2500 - 5000 ppm maximum allowed concentration within a 8 hour working period: 5000 ppm Now you can say but that is maybe a century away or more.. well it will be more noticeable as an indirect environmental effect than a direct effect on our bodies - the environment will have major issues long before we do from the direct effects BUT IT IS BAD NEWS. http://newscenter.lbl.gov/2012/10/17/elevated-indoor-carbon-dioxide-impairs-decision-making-performance/ This study from only 3 years ago is using data that is now way off. ITS WAY WORSE note these are 50ppm off that is a 16% or so differntial. Ventilation Rate and Resultant CO2 Concentrations (at 350 ppm outdoor concentration) Indoor Carbon Dioxide (ppm)Outside Air Ventilation (cfm Per Person)CO2 Differential (Inside – Outside) 800 ppm suggests about 20 cfm (or less) 500 ppm1,000 ppm suggests about 15 cfm (or less) 650 ppm 1,400 ppm suggests about10 cfm (or less) 1,050 ppm 2,400 ppm suggests about5 cfm (or less )2,050 ppm As you can see outdoor levels can dramatically effect indoor levels. The CO2 values in this table are approximate, and are based on a constant number of occupants (sedentary adults), a constant ventilation rate, an outdoor air CO2 concentration of about 350 ppm, and good mixing of the indoor air. http://eetd.lbl.gov/sites/all/files/lbnl-6148e-is_co2_an_indoor_pollutant_v3.pdf THERE ARE NO BRAKES WE WANT TO USE, WE ONLY HAVE A GAS PEDAL TO WORK WITH.

Hardly. First off, TPP means opening up Canada's auto sector. Canada still controls what comes into Canada, knocking that down by 1/5th is selling 1/5th the market, or in actuality it amounts to selling 1/3rd the market because 1/5th has already been opened up. TPP opens it up more, you are assuming Canada will gain export markets as a result of TPP. Canada is still able to protect what comes in, with TPP that is opened up to 20 countries and the amount is increased, you can't try to sell that as a better deal, it isn't. BECAUSE IT KEEPS STUFF OUT OF THE ONE MARKET CANADIAN AUTO CAN THRIVE IN, DOMESTIC PRODUCTION!!! IF CANADA CAN'T SELL TO ITSELF WHO CAN IT SELL TO. NO WAY WILL CANADIAN LABOUR OUTCOMPETE THE 2nd world, its clear the intent is just to destroy labour unions.

1. Its not a free trade deal, it is a trade protections deal for megacorporations THAT ARE NOT CANADIAN!!!! The only market Canada will ever fill is "excess demand" Frankly expanding trade will be expanding Canada's trade deficit. BUilding up something you have a negative balance at is not a good result. Its like saying I can't compete in the status quo so I will make it even harder to compete by introducing more competitors. What new markets are realized. The only thing that is seen is changes to domestic law to lock out compettition by Canadian Companies whereby IP will be owned by foreign companies meaning domestic production will be blocked, and further liberalizing domestic markets to foreign competition. It has no benefits. 2. To sell their product in Canada. Will US and Mexico NULLIFY NAFTA WITH TPP IF NOT THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO JOIN IT. 3. To sell their product in Canada. You think tis is the last agreement to ever exist? Please... This is largely a deal to pander to US lobbyists. These deals always result in labour beng moved offshore to the cheapest labour markets. They ain't Canada. 4. Canada has no need to negotiate. It is not gaining anything from the deals. It is jumping in with 20 other countries and Canada is not the most compettitive. It is an allusion that canada will win a gold from entering the race when in fact it may get lucky to finish 9th or 10th, where previously it was running in 5th. TPP will massively disrupt NAFTA... it isn't a stronger deal than NAFTA it is a worse deal than NAFTA so why ANULL NAFTA? MAKES NO SENSE? Why weaken your trade balance with your #1 trade partner? Where are these magical new markets coming from? The US is 70-80% of Canada's Market. Canada is less than 20% of the US market. After this maybe less than 15% if that. That works out to a 20% reduction in the trade balance. Canada should dump the TPP and join a trade alliance with India and China for more limited markets such as agriculture, electronics etc.. One that excludes the US, and doesn't interfere with IP and other domestic issues. Such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), It is projected to be the LARGEST trading block in the World, far larger than the TPP. EMERGING ECONOMIES ARE FAR MORE LUCRATIVE THAN OLD DYING ONES. CANADA ALREADY HAS BILATERAL AGREEMENTS WITH MOST OF TPP!!! GO RCEP BEING THE ONLY North American/European WESTERN STATE IN THE PREFERENTIAL ORG!!! WAY BETTER DEAL!!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regional_Comprehensive_Economic_Partnership The arrangement is also open to any other external economic partners http://www.adb.org/sites/default/files/publication/152753/reiwp-146.pdf

What negative consequences the status quo? What is so bad about the trade situation now? Is there some reason bilateral agreements cannot be worked out rather than a omnibus treaty? Europe isn't part of this treaty or 200 other countries, are they all doomed? Are they are lining up like lemmings preaching the impending doom merrily rolling along? This is just shove down throat fear monger shilling at its worst! What products is Canada going to be out competing The Asian Triangle, Mexico and the US on? Not only that but giving up domestic market protection means less of a market for local businesses. CANADA CANNOT COMPETE WITH ITS MINIMUM WAGE BEING TWICE TO 10 TIMES THAT OF THE OTHER SIGNATORIES!!! WAKE UP ITS BAD NEWS FOR CANADA!!! Airbus began delivering A320s from a Chinese plant in 2009, and signed an agreement this summer to build a second such facility in the country. Boeing can’t afford to be left behind in the trillion-dollar Chinese market, and the Beijing government has been eager to attract the kind of high-tech manufacturing its products entail." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comac Aluminum: $8,865,363,000 (1.9%) Cereals: $8,774,059,000 (1.8%) (WILL BE A DEMAND WITH OR WITHOUT TPP, CANADA WILL GET LESS FROM THESE DEALS) As yourself what new markets will be realized or maintained as a result of the TPP, which ones will be lost? Harper gave $8 Million in tax dollars to GOP
nerve replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It reaks. Not like you can trust CIDA you know the Canadian International Development Agency to run this program - instead they need to give money to the US republican party for CIA operations. Sort of crazy, and actually is probably illegal, not like supporting illegal foreign espionage has been prevented by Canada's justice system regardless. Yeah gut Canadian Agencies then pay American ones, totally corrupt undertaking. THERE IS NO FREE ENERGY? There is the sun though, which beams energy to earth, as well as magnetic fields everywhere, that could power and do power devices. Then there are the radio transmitters that clog up all the frequencies, that are also able to be harvested for energy, then there is the motion of the planet itself. Tons of energy sources that are free and renewable. That only require a device to harvest instead of fuel to power a device. There are massive telluric forces that are powered by the earth itself, static forces that are massively powerful. If you are seeing colour then you are seeing free energy!!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telluric_current

Thats not 500 people that is 500 family farms going broke and being bought up by big business - then that causing trickle down putting more on the bottom end out of business, until only big business owns farming in Canada, exercising a new lobby that will be a downward slope for protections for the industry which will no longer be about canadians but rather about a faceless numbered corporatist agenda. You keep saying Canada will be in a bad position? Really? Can Canada not negotiate free trade deals with the other 5 countries it hasn't yet. doesn't Canada already have trade deals? If these measures are so good for Canada why wern't they put into the other 40 trade deals that were bilateral? What is the real benefit here? Really? Sonuds like more concenssions and no real benefits? What are the benefits. OH IT WILL BE SO BAD BUT WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HECK IS IN IT.. SCARE MONGERING AND SHILL SPEAK. There is nothing beneficial to Canada in this that it couldn't get in a bilateral treaty PLUS this thing is giving away what wasn't acceptable to give away in the past, it still ain't acceptable. Allowing trade is one thing, but giving protections to big business is another. This ain't a trade deal it is giving powers and protections to big business to force more profits from countries that it doesn't own. If this what just about tarrifs it would be anothe thing completely, this is about changing domestic LAWS, that judges and governments put down rules for to protect interests.. this deal walks all over that, and the public will that was imbedded in that and just says, you can make more off of us, and we will pay you more for your goods and no one else can make those goods. THIS ISN'T FREE TRADE, IT IS CORPORATE TRADE PROTECTIONISM!!!! THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FREE TRADE WAKE THE HELL UP!!!! This is about them getting to be the only people to make anything they think of or buy off of the weak... then they can put any price they want on it. That is what this deal is about. IT IS NOT FREE TRADE, IT IS ABOUT CORPORATE GREED AND SUCKING AS MUCH MONEY OUT OF CONSUMERS AS POSSIBLE. NO GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE WOULD AGREE TO THAT! Canada just gets bought out or gang raped on the global market, IT WILL NOT BENIFIT CANADA! These arn't "Canadian businesses" raping Canadian people. THIS IS THE BIG GLOBAL BUSINESSES DOING IT, and Canada getting nothing as a middle man. Very few sectors are Canadian on the global market.. just try naming all the big global businesses and see how many foreign ones you can name and realize that the playing field will be balanced against Canadian ones after this deal is done. Canada is a dying market for IP it gets its bought out, and genreally the Federal Government has let big Canadian IP holders die, NORTEL, Blackberry etc.. It is NOT well positioned for this deal, it is a HUGE mistake. The legal liabilities are massive, jail time for stuff that hasn't been crimnal in Canada and many many lawsuits for activites that were legal prior to it being ratified. There are too many faults of this treaty to consider it. This "ALL or nothing" approach is dangling the carrot, to get all the stuff people would never accept. WHY NEGOTIATE THAT? Giving away legal rights so big foreign business makes money easier? IT IS TOO INVASIVE!!! AND IT IS A VIOLATION OF NAFTA. This introduces a MAJOR issue if any of the three NAFTA parties does not agree AND creates a giant black hole for that deal.

No sorry the issue is a conservative government. The TPP would go ahead in the event no matter what, but the supreme court and senate and other appointed positions would continue to be hijacked by conservative partisan objectives. Single issues are not more important than the issue of who runs government itself. Legisislative issues will be resolve by a vote regardless. To answer your specific questions. 1. Forming government, particularly a non conservative government running Canada. The liberals are closer to the NDP than the conservatives, end of story. 2. it will be there no matter what. Open vote, there you go. Unless NDP gain a majority they will not have the power to stop it, regardless of what comprises government. They will be in a much stronger lobbying position as part of government though. Once the TPP is made public, rather than leaks, people will be able to critically analyze it, still 90 days is not a long time to analyze a trade deal of this size. I can tell you this, the common man will not support the TPP it is all about more money for big business. This means higher consumer costs, and the IP laws will completely contradict Canadian common law and precedent on the issue, it is not inline with Canadian law, and will impose itself on domestic law, it is not a fitting agreement for Canada. This isn't a "trade agreement" it changes domestic law. The Harper government is lying to people about its effects. 3. No, because it would pass anyway without a NDP majority. The benfit is that the executive angles of how it is implemented will be able to soften the issues, something that wouldn't be able to be proposed or implemented with a deaf conservative minority. 4. It is a waste of time for them to try, they cannot govern, they do not have support of the public, and didn't even with their majority, and if they don't have majority of the house it will be government in the worst form and end up costing a hell of a lot of money to force unpopular legislation on people, that didn't pass muster when it was forced down the throats of Canadians. If they don't have a majority them and their policies have been rejected and they have no mandate. The NDP and Liberal Party are more capable of forming a popular and representative government than the Conservative party any day of the week. The only thing that allowed conservatives to govern was a broken electoral systrem we had 7 million vs 6 million votes in 2011 and this time I expect that gap to be even wider perhaps 10 million to 4 million or so. They are not repsected or liked by the vast majority of Canadians, their legislation and their policies domestic and foreign are hated. 5. Its THEM, you think Canadians are a bunch of idiots and have forgotten the last 10 years of despotic corrupt rule? 6. The proposal that will be official on election night will represnt what issues they can work on, and what type of power sharing will happen in the executive. You know the government and the legislature are two different things. They will ahve a few years to strip down all the policies that were shoved down peoples throats and introduce badly needed equalization, and involvement of the provinces, work on building industry, and strengthening the lower classes that have been ignored by the Harper Regime. The hot button issues will be put to an open vote. Running government is more important than the agenda of government. Removing corrupt conservative government and reducing the total control of conservative overlords will be a priority in the event of having enough seats to overpower the conservatives. A liberal-NDP coalition will be a million times more stable than a conservative government. It will also be a fresh breath of popular government, something the conservatives have never had in the last 25+ years. I have to say though that it is far more in the NDP's intest to form a partnership with the liberals to shut down the conservatives for 5 years, than risk going to the polls early and blowing it all. There is to much at risk with the composition of the senate and Supreme court, crown corps, RCMP, etc... than to allow them more time in. That is the issue, not the legislation. THE GOVERNMENT is the issue NOT the policy. You clearly don't understand why what creates government is the issue, not control of the house, or are ignoring it or trying to supreme that reality. ITS NOT POLICY, IT IS WHO RUNS GOVERNMENT. WHO IMPLEMENTS THE LAWS. Parliament will make them regardless. Tom Mulcair says he is willing to work with Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau to form a government – and has even written that pledge into his platform – but he could never support Stephen Harper, and says his “No. 1 job” is to oust the Conservatives from office.

What is Stephen Harper's plan to get Canada out of $5.2B debt
nerve replied to Biz Liz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Getting Canada out of Debt, yeah, thats a good one, what is this the 90's? Its the Ontario game Canada is playing, how much more can we borrow before our credit is rated as "GREECE-" Harper's Game - we gotta have well-off people, why not us = dump it on the people Justin - Socialist Tax+Spend = On the nation, it'll sort itself out eventually, debt is just another bond. NDP Game - whoever has money, he'll if they are doing so well why not take it off the top. Personally it should go something like this - CUT YOUR COSTS. but really it doesn't matter. Paying off the debt IS NOT IN THE PLANS FOR ANYONE FOR ATLEAST A FEW YEARS.. if oil bottoms out it will likely be 5 to 10 years before the books can be balanced. We are talking another 20 billion being hacked off the government rolls - FEDERALLY - and as much needing to be chopped off provincial budgets around Canada. Already CPI is going up, and if the trade deficit goes lop sided expect goods to go up in price. Of course there are big ticket items that may be needing to be fit into upcoming budgets too, like an airforce, munitions, WWIII, etc.. Some of these are more likely than others. A whole lot need not be spent but government waste is a "expectation" of any government. 5.2 billion where the heck did that number come from, next years budget forecast? Learn a little about federal finance and post back. We can expect that the books were doctored if they expected to be going out to dump a crapload of debt and structural issues on whomever forms government next year. Just how bad things are will be anyones guess, no one will know until someone else can look at them. It would take 20 years or more of serious belt tightening to pay off the debt at this point. It is almost becoming redundant at this point. 10 years ago maybe made sense, now not as much since Canada itself is being eroded, not much will be left in 20 years to really matter. Totally different world in 2035. No government that wants reelection would ever touch public service staffing levels or health care and that is what needs to be cut to even hope of getting rid of the Canadian Federal Government debt. It is just free interest money for the banks these days. You know we get 10% of the taxes raised each year for helping you embezzle money to partisan purposes. -
It will just be another input to lower the price of milk which could force farmers off their land, once they get the lobby weakened by reducing it - hey only 1 in 30 of them to start, they won't be able to resist further market opening, which means more big corps will buy up dairy farms ending family businesses and further liberating the market until as happened in the US - the market controls are removed completely and the supply system is ended. For people who don't mind big business perhaps not even Canadian ownership controlling their food supply not a bad deal, for farmers maybe it will present a challenge for them - we know that with the end of the wheat board, the Harper government isn't for socialized farming they support may the best business win we all know in the end that is a monopolized mega corp that will win that battle. If we eased up the public service by 3.5% we are talking over 10,000 unemployed federal service workers, think what it would do in your workplace if one in every 30 people employed by that business were fired. Clearly 3.5% is just a small consension --- WELL IT IS REAL PEOPLES LIVES. This is a trend "Since 2001, farm numbers have fallen in all receipts classes except for the $250,000-or-more class. About two-thirds (65.6%) of Canadian farms report less than $100,000 in receipts, while 17.4% were in the $100,000-to-$249,999 receipts category. Farms in the $250,000-or-more receipts category now account for 17.0% of farms, compared with 13.9% in 2001 (at 2005 constant prices)." We all know big farming and monopolization is the agenda of the Conservatives. You know only 500 dairy farms in Canada will be shut down as a result of the TPP by the conservatives. Its all good unless it is your farm. Are you one of the 250,000 receipts farmers? And then the public -- but we will pay you ---- for not being a dairy farmer--- one of those but we will pay you not to fish cod? What happened to those guys? Difference cows aren't going extinct. Is this the future of Canadian Dairy? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collapse_of_the_Atlantic_northwest_cod_fishery#/media/File:Surexploitation_morue_surpêcheEn.jpg Why the heck are Canadian Dairy farmers being told they should be laid off? http://www.heritage.nf.ca/articles/economy/moratorium-impacts.php There are plenty of Cows why are they saying that 3% of Dairy farmers loosing their jobs is a modest concession? How does that fly around the dinner tables of Canada's farmers? What is next wheat going extinct?

Reefer I don't understand how you can in anyway think a Conservative Minority is possible - it is totally unsound to think that the conservatives would ever pass a confidence vote, it is simply an impossibility. It is comparable to me being raped by supermodel chicks every time I walk in public - it just isn't going to happen. What the sane question now is - will it be a liberal minority (less likely NDP minority but still possible) or a liberal/ndp coalition majority... OR liberal/ndp minority. - also would they throw in may for the hell of it, if her seat is solid - one would think they would be selfish but I think most Canadians actually respect May for her knowledge of the environment for a position as a minister of environment - but maybe I am mistaken. Stop fooling yourself into thinking that a conservative minority government could actually happen it is more likely I would win the lotto than conservatives forming a minority government, stop kidding yourself. It is more likely they would form a majority government and that is the least likely of the possible scenarios. Just stop wasting peoples time talking about a conservative minority government, it won't function. Don't waste peoples energy on that it is a fantasy. You totally make yourself look like a shill even suggesting something like that. If you look at the planks there is common ground for the Liberals and NDP such as middle class unionized workers, - taxing the very well off, transit investment, reduction on small business taxes, youth employment, increasing funding of the CBC, environmental stewardship, helping middle class families, strengthening the pension system, improving the OAS system, poverty reduction, etc.. these things alone could keep them "on the same page" for quite some time. if how long the conservative party took to do anything, and they may even be more successful with implementing some of these issues. It is likely the Liberals are wiling to spend on infrastructure also which very well could support some planks of the NDP labour sector jobs plan for construction, industry etc.. that is focusing on industry as opposed to resource extraction as a mid term stimulus. I would not rule out resource extraction but it would likely be more deliberate and not focused on oil sands development. You know cause there are other large projects that could bring substantial gains to Canadians.

What are Canada's goals for 2016 and beyond
nerve replied to nerve's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes I think this is a good plan, but they should be buying patents if they are cheaper and making their own then buying goods, or making their own generics, first. There are enough unemployed people that you could set up crown corps to make generic drugs for less than the cost of buying them. Then there is the getting rid of provnicial health care and just putting it under a fully integrated health system for all Canada to streamline it and remove administration and "barriers" to healthcare for Canadians. Canadians should be able to get healthcare or have a court order for medical care to be provided for a federal error etc... anywhere in canada, leaving healthcare to the provinces creates way to many problems, as well as gaps in care. There needs to be a national health plan - to replace provincial health insurance programs, and private insurers should be able to offer their services in competition to the federal plan. Need to stop blanket taxing for healthcare and start letting people buy their coverage based on their quality of health, while still providing bare bones coverage for the poor. That is people who live high claims lifestyles should pay more, and those who live healthy lifestyles with low claims demographics should pay less. Its costing way to much. We need more technology and less high paid union staff and salary earners being over taxed, the whole system just isn't financially efficient. It is great to have people trained for this and there will likely always be a demand but shift this to the private purse and not the bottomless public finance pit that is government cause all they do is take others people money and spend it on what they want with no real recognition they are theives and extortionists. -
This is just cultural ignorance. There is nothing at all barbaric about having multiple wives or multiple husbands, if it is a consensual relationship. Anti-polygamy law is horrific and culturally abusive. We should be open and accepting of other consensual practices. The fact they are lumping in things like polygamy with thinks like rape is just nonsense they aren't the same. I think if anything it shows the gross ignorance and misdirection of these measures. Inviting police abuse is problematic if it comes with the bi-line - barbaric cultural practices - as opposed to "criminal acts" The way this initiative is presented just shows ignorance, hate and xenophobia - which is likely the real intent as a form of marketing. Women or men in polygamist relationships are not per se victims especially if they are engaged in consensual relationships. It is horrible that you have people like Stephen Harper pushing their values on what ideal consensual relationships are. If people can screw around with multiple men and women these days even while married, what is the issue with people being in committed relationships with multiple people. It is just gross ignorance showing that that government is not about letting people make informed consensual decisions and is instead about their agenda even if it violates peoples freedoms. That is horrible and I reject it. If you want people to report crimes then leave it at this, the premise is turning it into "cultural war" and HATE fueled xenophobia. This boils down to more islamophobia and it is disgusting we have a supposed leader of a nation that aims to shut down all practices that do not represent their values. Canadians are accepting of other people and different practices, Stephen Harper is a racist jerk, and does not share Canadian values of openness trust and supporting those who are in need. WE should be able to have fundamentals based on morals such as consensual as opposed to non-consensual relationships - BDSM should be legal if it is consensual, polygamy should be legal if it is consensual. People should be able to wear anything they bloody want - we shouldn't have fashion police. Get these a$$holes out of office they are just ignorant jerks who want to control people. Get this looser the hell away from any legislator because he is an ignorant prude, not representative of Canadian values. Sure report someone who is forcibly confining someone against their will but don't report your neighbor because they use a face veil. I can't believe people elected the looser go back to the stone-age. Deciding what type of social relations you want is one thing but telling people how they can relate with others is going to far. It should only be about consent, not the form of relationship. This recognizing minors cannot form consent. freedom of conscience and religion; freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication; freedom of peaceful assembly; and. freedom of association. RESPECT OUR RIGHTS I cannot believe people support this person who does not cease in attacking the charter. SHAME!

What does Canada need in the years to come? I understand an election is ongoing but perhaps we could highlight on what Canada needs. Eg. we can look at social Where is healthcare in Canada headed? Does Canada need a military? Will it have an airforce, what will it look like? Can Canada continue to get involved in internal affairs of third world countries for the purpose of regime change, i.e. overthrow third world governments? Where will the money come from to ruin foreign peoples ways of life? Can it maintain the needs of pensioners with more and more people going into retirement? What industries will survive? If oil tanks ongoing as some predict, what will Alberta and Newfoundland do to make money? Are prices going to keep going up on everyday goods? Some countries even subsidies food such as bread so the poor do not starve. What does Canada look like next year, 5 years from now, 10 years from now? IMO whether someone wears a scarf or not is not really what we should be focusing on. Who cares, its a bloody scarf, it won't protect them from the bomb. Lets use this thread to raise the real issues facing Canada. Use fingerprints then if you want to identify people, the technology exists.

Entrance & Immigration Taxes For Canada?
nerve replied to Biz Liz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'd say that monetizing travel and immigration is not a bad idea per se, however, it really has nothing to do with money to the education system, as they are two different levels of government. If it goes to anything it should go to airlines and other transit to reduce usage costs for domestic travelers and people traveling outside of Canada, i.e the security markups, as well as cost of running refugee programs etc.. Education costs could be reduced other ways. Its fairly clear though that they will only continue to rise due to strong teacher's unions who in effect are the ones who are saying how education will be delivered by placing red lines on what conditions they are willing to teach in. Really though the education system is a joke and it will remain that way because it isn't geared towards what is really needed it is geared more to institutionalizing and indoctrinating the youth to political agendas. Its shameful really. The whole system is horribly implemented. Its funded daycare to a propaganda outlet. It should be called the Indoctrination while you wageslave system. This would take away the false premise of actual education being performed within schools in Canada. They achieve so little for what they are sucking up, much like healthcare in Canada. They should just fund liposuction and stomach stapling and take away 50% of the health dollar drain. Wherever money is extorted it should be put right back in to improve services related to those things, not peter and pauling. Tax and Spend is shameful. The only areas that should have money raised is those that are essential. Education is not. People will pay to educate their children. If they don't then they shouldn't expect anything but essential education not all this fantasy land for youth. The direction is totally wrong, we don't need more cushion and gravy training for the youth, they should be subjected to bare bones programming and essential education based on literacy and math and physical education, and given a certain amount of time for self directed learning mandatorily so they can learn how to learn instead of being idiots who regurgitate what they are told to think. The only tests that are needed are literacy and math, everything else is secondary. If they want science or music let them pay for the materials. There is just so much money being dumped down the drain on training youth totally useful concepts and facts instead of teaching them what they need to learn to survive and teaching them how to learn so they can progress with studies in life. Way too much already spent, its the way the system is delivered, it is a horrible system and it is a failure. Its a provincial responsibility not a federal one. If you want to fund any aspect of education fund post secondary studies make it free, let the children's parents pay for primary and secondary education, and pay for the people who make it through who can really contribute through furthering their education when they are on their own. We have home schooled students who's education is the cost of school supplies. Why the hell are we spending billions on daycare for other peoples kids. They will pay for school instead of daycare if it costs the same anyway. let the parents pay for their kids daycare not tourists. Its understandable of needing to pay for unemployed peoples way, if they are taking part in reintegration programs, but let people with money pay-- and don't tax for it.. tax is a way of letting the government waste peoples money, the more direct program payments the less waste and embezzlement and misallocation of those resources. the government thinks it is ok to spend money on any stupid idea they have, that is why you should never elect for general taxation EVER, they are people who couldn't make it in the private sector, then you have them manage something - no. Bottom line - introduce fees to pay for the cost of policing immigrants and providing them services, but no, don't tax them for your kids education. Much the same as I shouldn't be paying to police immigrants and provide them with services. Get the money from where it is going, stop the peter and pauling. The only time it should be taken from somewhere else is if it is essential and there is nothing to take. -
The problem with these assertions is the real sale value, and the fact WCS can't exist at those prices, it has to pay to get rid of oil at those prices, which is just a bit of madness in any long term economic policy. Why pay to give resources away? We aren't talking about 10% of the economy being weakened, we are talking about 10% of the economy disappearing. So if 100% is 3 trillion we are talking about 300 billion dollars (all tax revenue of the federal government) just ceasing to exist. If 10% unemployment resulted, it would be really high unemployment. We are already seeing this drop tied into crime rates in Edmonton. It isn't just oh less money to trade with there are tons of other social effects, its a big deal. It isn't just money gone, we then have EI, Welfare, Prison costs, medical costs due to poor nutrition, and drain on social programs all cropping up, it has a reverse effect to, not just a 0 net gain effect. ' Even looking at a 10% drop in tax inputs to the Federal government, that turns a 1 billion surplus into a 20+ billion deficit. Or in turn 20 billion cut from somewhere..

IMO it would be very difficult to serve a subpoena on a sitting PM, mostly due to the inability to access his home - it would likely go something like this.. drop subpoena on driveway, watch it get soaked by sprinkler system, get tackled by RCMP swat team OR in the alternate - put in mail wait 6 months for response - sorry I missed this. was busy backlogged on mail. This would likely be met by the Attorney General intervening and moving to quash it. Now doing this in the Hague, world court etc.. would be a paramount action, I have to say though I don't understand the legalities of a PM being held responsible for decisions of Foreign Affairs unless there is evidence that there was an order in council, but once again, we would need to know if this order in council was somehow unlawful. While unethical I am not sure that refusal of a visa would in itself be a human rights crime as those kids still could have flown into Canada and made a request for entry under humanitarian grounds of medical need. I have to say though that I still would love to see any documentation - such as copies of refusal letter, etc.. to substantiate this. It would be great if world leaders were held responsible for all the people their orders killed but sadly illegal acts like war are able to be waged by dominant world powers, as they have the force majuer to intercede in laws and human rights, and they have the propaganda engines to have people say - but they were doing it for a good cause... so its ok innocent people were killed and maimed because now someone else is abusing their rights. Its just a sad fact that governments only use human rights to attack their opponents not to restrain their dominant positions. Terrorist if you aren't government, morally obligated if you are. We were morally obligated to drop the bomb, we didn't intend to kill and maim those other people they were just nearby. The mad terrorist set off a suicide vest that killed police and military as well as a few bystanders, how heinous!!! You know the story. Our way is the right way clearly we can kill people anywhere in the world who don't share our view of the world - we are morally obligated to kill them, they don't agree with us. Sad fact of "modern government" it ain't about human rights, it is about them being right.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Canada Criticizes TPP Deal
nerve replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Oh yeah giving an extra 3 years to US patent holders on life saving medical technology from generic knockoffs, totally against humanitarian inclinations. Patents in general are nothing but selfish endeavors that lead to pain suffering and death of people, or at least boredom. True the medical industry benefits from this but how can one sector which isn't bad off to begin with really be given even more headway to watch humans die as they lust for more wealth at the hands of those who suffer with human frailty that could be cured like the air we breath. It is a shame we let people own capability that would otherwise be free and benefit society rather than the selfish few. Shame. SHAME SHAME.- 56 replies
