I am fully aware of the historical significance of the flag. It is the addition of a tea pot I find funny. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the "Tea Party" resurrected it, since many of its members were probably at the original 1773 "Boston Tea Party".

Ah, but don't forget, Ol' Ghaddafi has OIL, and that makes him a hero to many in American politics. Remember the line, "It is Unamerican to criticise an oil company"? As long as that oil is being sold to the US, the ruler can do as they please (except Chavez who is "an evil socialist dictator").

Remember that when the oh-so-holier-than-thou Republicans take office. They will delete government money from anything that does not meet their agenda. They all claim THEY are true Christians, but do not follow the teachiungs of Jesus. To them, God is the almighty dollar.

Do the names Franco, Pinochet, Galtieri, Mobuto, Duvalier, Somoza and Straussner ring a bell? All right wing (fascist) dictators who murdered their own countrymen at will. They were just as bad as the left wing dictators the right denounces. The only difference? They were supposedly "allies" (and some were put into office by the US). A dictator is a dictator, right or left. We should not be supporting ANY of them. I don't care if they are our "allies" or not. We in the west cannot sit and smuggly talk about the "lack of human rights in socialist dictatorships" while turning a blind eye to what right wing dictators do. The word for that is "hypocrites".

The end result for Christianity, like Islam, is "world dominance". Christians dream of an all Christian Earth. When it comes to fundamentalists of both faiths, the end result is only that: the name of the faith.

I did play baseball a number of years ago, and was heavily into Tae Kwon Do, but a serious back problem caused me to quit both.

Oh, I quite agree they haven't a clue. It just amazes me how much a game can mean to people, especially those who are, as I called them "armchair athletes". They couldn't haul their oversized butts off a couch to even lift a hockey stick, let alone play.

Why? I am not anti-Semitic, or anti-Israel. I just don't see why Israel wields so much influence on the government.

I am not "picking a bone" with anybody. My point is that Israel commands such a presence in US politics that the American, and Canadian, government turns a blind eye to any wrong doing by Israel. I still ask why?

I was around in those days. I have read the report by the ship's captain. He said they repeatedly radioed they were American, but the Israelis ignored it. They flew a large American flag. Again, ignored. Israel's excuse? "We thought they were Egyptians." The US has never said, or done, anything about it.

I have never been a hockey fan, or a fan of any sport for that matter. Recently, I was told I am a "poor Canadian" because I don't watch hockey. A poor Canadian? Let's see: I have voted in every election since I was 18 (that's 40 years now). I have been politically active. I have volunteered with youth for 21 years. I do a lot of other volunteer work as well. I fly the Canadian flag on my home all the time. I am a "poor Canadian"? Some armchair athletes think that becuase I don't watch a game that determines how good a Canadian I am? Shake your heads. I am a better Canadian than many of them.

The Republicans dislike ANYTHING that allows the people to "dictate" to employers. Profits are all they care about, and they don't care who gets hurt in the hunt for those profits. Look at all the things the GOP proposed budget cuts back on: Anything that helps the little guy.

Nonsense. I don't fear a "Jewish conspiracy to rule the world." I just want to know why Canada and the US are so beholden to Israel. What has Israel ever done that would elicit such blind support? They have bombed Beirut indiscrimninatly, but nothing was said. They attacked the Gaza convoy, nothing was said. I have been waiting since 1967 for the US to say something about the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty besides "Ooops". I believe in Israel's right to exist. I always have. However, I do not believe that we shoul;d give them blind obedience and support.

This claim, like the claim of a Second Coming, has been floating about for centuries. Through the years, several men have claimed to be the "12th Iman" (not Imam). The Mahdi in Sudan is probably the most famous.

Look it up. Google "Olmert orders Bush". You'll find it. As to influence, AIPAC routinely makes large donations to US Congressmen and Senators to follow what they want. How much is too much? ANY is too much.

I respectfully disagree. Olmert bragged about how he made Bush do as he said. AIPAC in the US, and the Canada-Israel Committee wield far too much influence and power.
