well, given the veto used by the US in the UN on the 19th regarding settlement in the West Bank area, can it still be said that the US does not pander to Israel? The settlements are illegal, but the US blocked any call by the UN for Israel to evacuate them. Once again, the US bends to the will of her owner.

There seems always to be a need of somebody to hate. It was the Chinese in the 1880's, the Japanese in the 1940's, the Hungarians in the 1950's, east Indians in the 1970's, and Muslims today. Of course, the Jews have always faced the hate. Small minds always fear what they do not understand, and always raise unneeded fear in the act. Are Muslims a threat? Some, yes. All, no. To "round them all up" is akin to the thinking of the Nazis, and I, for one, refuse to lower myself to think like that.

Folks, this isn't about who was what. It is about how politics is so screwed that people will excuse the actions of one group, while denouncing another group that does the same thing.

Personally, I couldn't care less about any faith being ridiculed. I'm no atheist, but I do not eat, drink and sleep my beliefs. Religion has caused more wars than anything else, and it should be ridiculed.

Just not interested.

The whole "October Crisis" was overblown. The FLQ weren't nearly as big a threat as Trudeau tried to make them out to be.

Does that include Christian fundamentalists like the Westboro Baptist Church, or Jehova's Witnesses? Those are just two groups that "put religion over flag". There are a number of other such groups out there, and they aren't Muslim.

Why are the Liberals so set against Canada upgrading her defence forces? The NDP we understand, given they have always been anti-military. Do the Liberals want this country to fall behind in defence? Do they honestly think Canada is safe from any attack? They opposed a naval upgrade. They opposed new helicopters. They sent troops to Afghanistan, then blame the Harper administration for the troops being there. Why do the Liberals hate the military? Canada has a proud military history. The Canadians were the most feared troops on the Western Front in WW I. The Germans dreaded meeting the Canadians after D-Day in WW II (they ran away from Dieppe as the Canadians closed in in 1944). Why do the Liberals want to destroy something of pride to Canada?

I have Muslim friends here in Canada, and I would trust them with my life. They are not out calling for our deaths, or the destruction of Canada (or anywhere else). They are loyal Canadians.

As I said, it is nothing new. All major nations are guilty of this.

Look at who the US called "hero". Pinochet. A man put in power by the US, and a US toady. If he has spoken out against US involvement in Chile, he would have been called "tyrant". It is all politics. "Support us, and we will support you. Don't support us, and we will denounce you." It is nothing new. It has happened since politics began.

Too bad for Israel. Any sovereign nation can recognize whomever they wish. They don't need Israel's approval to do so.

Don't get me wrong. I have as little use for Chavez as I do any autocrat or dictator. However, the way I see it is simple: If Chavez came out and said, "I want the US to interfere in Venezuelan politics", he would go from "dictator" to hero overnight.
