Kessel had to go. Despite being a talented, one-dimensional player he had very little value and the trade reflected that. Phil will do well in Pittsburgh because they are defensively sound and only need him to finish.

Spalling is a decent role player and maybe a pick will pan out...but really TO dumped a talent with a bad attitude that was no longer good for the dressing room.

I agree AC. They wanted him gone. Still think they could have done better, but I agree with an editorial that said it was to let the rest of the Leafs know to wake tfu. Hopefully it works.
