Hmmm, good question... Maybe I had too high an opinion of the Gary Doer? Thinking back now, I think you may be right, I can think of quite a few "misteps" the Manitoba NDP have had over the years that ended up costing Manitobans a lot of money out of their pockets... Considering who he had in his cabinet, those that still are sinced that really hasn't changed, I really shouldn't be surprised... Thanks for reminding me... I appreciate that...

Not one in "majority" territory? What happened? Are those pre or post the "students and vets ejected from Harper rallies by the RCMP et al" issue?

Anyone interested in this subject matter or just in trying to derail it? just askin' -
Hey, I remember a "luxury lake" complete with canoes being there... To the OP... It would all depend on what YOU are into as far as a good place to live... A place I really liked, besides Winnipeg which I love for reasons few people understand, is Kelowna BC it's a beautiful City and area to live in, as well as being one of the most expensive places in Canada to live... Vancouver Island is also extremely nice... You get more "bang for the buck" in the Maritimes as far as a GREAT place to live too... LOTS of great places in Canada to choose from coast to coast is what I'm saying... (Ahhh, I can hardly wait to be out in my boat fishing on one of Manitoba's pristine lakes and rivers in a couple of months... )

Actually, IMHO, there's more chance of Canadian Shrimp having lead and mercury in them because of Canada's logging industry (west coast shrimp), than most imported shrimp... Not that I know much about the industry beyond a little reading I've done so I stand to be corrected... -

As Kevin O'Leary would point out, too small an issue, no money in it for me, and at .90 a lb how much was your profit margin and at what volume? -
Very misguided, very "IN the box" (sorry), but still funny...

No problem for me my friend... My sig line says it all anyway... However, having said that, you too should always remember that one has to read beyond the "head line" to get to the meat of the story... Some people (not you) are incapable of doing that... -

Better them than China (and the rest of SE Asia for that matter) at .10 a lb... No? -

You have no brain and it doesn't stop you from making stupid and silly comments... If Harper sees the comments you make; in that case YOU I'm sure wouldn't have any problem "getting in"... There are many just like YOU at every event he holds... (pssst, quick, take any "friends" you have on facebook that you're not sure of how they vote off your friends list before the Harper "facebook cops" find them and you're kept out of Harper's events because of THEM.) -

On this one I'm in TOTAL agreement with you... There's also the factor of an election going on so post this election and subsequent appointments and the results of the election itself will be a major determining factor of what transpires in the Liberal Party (in fact ALL parties) going forward... It's what I've said in the past... Beyond the leaders, the Liberal party has the BEST "bench strength" of any of the political parties... -
Maybe, but I do see big differences in political philosophies between the 3 major parties on almost any given issue I care about... One has to think about it (beyond the system's inherent restrictions) when a so called "conservative" party is the historically bigest spending party that has been found IN CONTEMPT of Canada's long standing political system, all it's flaws included... Plus well after the so called "recession" ended delivers a record $56,000,000,000.00 added burdon on EVERY resident of Canada... The "little guy" and Unionist party could care less about what the actual COSTS of "social programs" are and what affect implementing their policies would have on Canadian society within the CURRENT Global economy... Canada's debt and deficit spending isn't even on the radar for them... The other party trys to balance those two diametrically opposed viewpoints... I see a significant difference there... Don't you?

Is this the Greens last federal campaign?
GWiz replied to WWWTT's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The OP asks > Is this the Greens last federal campaign? Perhaps, perhaps not... OMHO the Greens main problem is that, unlike any other party that has seats in parliament today, they didn't "evolve" from within, they're trying to get in... A difference the Greens may want to change by joining with a current major political party FIRST... The party that reflects their point of view and policies most closely... -
IMHO you may want to add "IMO" or "IMHO" to an OPINION like that because I see very little simularity between the 3 main parties and I absolutely have no problem making my choice as to which party I support based on those VAST differences...

Liberals turf canidate who founded white-supremacist group

All it reveals is that when he was nominated as a candidate and the guy filled out his paperwork he lied on it, or the "Are you or have you ever been a Racist or made a disparaging remark about any group of people in your life?" question wasn't on it... The riding association accepted him as a candidate based on that paperwork... Why would someone vet all 308 candidate nominies that have been acceped and elected by their riding associations beyond the official (it's a criminal offence to make false statements on them) documents that they have to sign? Sure, it happens, you get a bad apple, you boot the person, you move on... Checking EVERYBODY out online trying to find dirt on people isn't the kind of "Government Controlled State" (read dictatorial police state) I ever want Canada to become... That's Harper's vision of what Canada should be... Not mine... -

I love how the "no new voters wanted" message by Harper is tracking both on msm every day (morning, noon and night) as well as having gone viral on the web... Please, please, please keep that message coming all the way to election day... -
WHEN Iggy loses this election and moves back to the US
GWiz replied to scouterjim's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ya know what, you guys may have it right, city, prov., fed., funding to "refurbish" rather than build new... IF, the NEW Winnipeg Stadium was a fully enclosed stadium that housed BOTH the Blue Bombers and the U of M Bisons at the U 0f M campus as it will be, I'd be OK with that cause it could be used for a whole bunch of other things besides football year round... BUT, to spend as much money as it stands now to build an "open" stadium on the U of M campus and tear down the current Winnipeg (Canad Inns) Stadium which is way more centrally located than the new one will be all on the public purse makes no sense to me at all... Oh well, no point worrying about things you can't do anything about, eh... Sneak in a little extra padding in "kiddo's" helmet just in case it being Ed's err Ivor's place, eh... BTW, will Glen still be your #1 by game 3 this year? Oh, one other thing, we only won 4 games but still MADE money... You? -

NO WAY! We're KEEPING IT! Too bad you're not playing a third (or was it fourth, yeah it was) string QB in your NEXT meaningful game against the BIG Blue, eh... -
OK... Some can smell an odor, some can't, I don't much care either way to be perfectly honest, my "team" ain't in the running in MB... $2 BILLION errors (bi-pole 3), $250 MILLION errors (autopac - no coverage unless you're a car thief) stink pretty bad to me...

GWiz replied to scouterjim's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not this year, next year maybe since the NEW Stadium will be a whole lot closer to the river... But we've got that "floodway" thingy protecting us so it'll still just be the same old biplane... BTW, you guys getting that new stadium of yours that'll actually "fit" a team into it anyTIME soon? Your old ones gonna get "outlawed", you know, concusions from running into walls and all that... -
Well, not my call for sure, but from the outside seeing where Herper's "recession" actually did "hit" like a little tsunami, like Southern Ontario, you guys didn't have a whole lot of choice but the one that was taken... You may also want to look at the EI in that area and consider hard if Bus and CoC were the only bennys... Especially from where YOU sit... Just sayin', not defendin'
