  1. In other news,

"More than 4,000 Canadians are believed to have perished due to medical procedures that were delayed or cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic , according to a new analysis by the Canadian Medical Association . And that’s not the only spike in peripheral deaths caused by pandemic measures. Canada’s already-high rate of overdose deaths have been driven to historic highs ever since the first onset of lockdowns."

I would agree with you Boges, but this is not our first rodeo with communicable disease, not is it the first time we have found out our health care system is ill prepared for a mass event, i hope someone reads all those after action reports and learns , something...anything, everyone already knows we need major investments into our health care system, starting with long term care, next being ICU beds...Of course we could wait until the next Wuhan virus comes out of china, i got 20 bucks that after this is over we will all go back to normal until the next event, and we will invent the wheel all over again...

At this point I’m beginning to think that the people in power want to keep hospital capacity low as to necessitate public health emergencies.  How else do you explain almost 2 years and no health initiatives to increase capacity, nurses, etc?

The number above is probably an underestimate, and is still increasing. Most of these deaths occurred after a while, not right at the beginning of the shutdown.

No one counted those who died alone and in misery. Those who are so upset by corona, they’re losing their minds, and their will to live.
