Layton Overtakes Harper Second Most Popular Leader
THELIBERAL replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
RE::Running another one out? Mikey, you were the first. (A boy always remembers his first time.) You appeared to be a worthy adversary for the verbal sparring, alas it was only an illusion. I think we have a troll!!! -
Here is an article that appeared a couple of day's ago in the Montreal Gazette. Page A12. And I quote from the article: But while reporters and photographers came in great numbers to see Harper, the smattering of Dairy Queen customers were cooler to the Tory chief. In fact Rebecca Smith and Ingela Travers-Hayward said they were paid 5 dollars to buy a Blizzard by one of Harper's aides. He said Go meet him he's a nice guy said Smith,19. Ya have to pay people for a photo op and to meet with Harper??? WOW!!! Liberals must be shaking in their boots at the thought of holding another election with Harper in the running eh???? Hearsay, unproven accusations and a bias CON servative media are the weapons of mass deception of the CON servatives

Conservative's Man Chuck Guite?
THELIBERAL replied to THELIBERAL's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
RE::The reprehensible Chuck Guite, who has now been charged with fraud in the sponsorship scandal, has been portrayed as a friend of the Liberal Party. In fact, he rose to prominence under """Brian Mulroney’s Conservatives.""" Gee seems the Conservative types on here don't want to talk about this. -
I guess when the Liberals won the election back in 1993 they didn't clean house just quite good enough. Some Conservative trash left behind has come to haunt them today!!!! Seems Chuck Guite is a carry over from the Mulroney years! Well who knew? http://www.canadiandimension.mb.ca/v39/v39_3lh.htm Finally, the Gomery Commission seemed to operate in a vacuum, missing the political context it needed to be understood. The reprehensible Chuck Guite, who has now been charged with fraud in the sponsorship scandal, has been portrayed as a friend of the Liberal Party. In fact, he rose to prominence under """Brian Mulroney’s Conservatives.""" Journalist Stevie Cameron documented Guite’s venal activities eleven years ago in her explosive, bestselling book, On the Take: Crime, Corruption and Greed in the Mulroney Years. In a chapter called “It Pays to Advertise,” she described the ludicrous abuses that occurred under the umbrella of Canada’s 125th-anniversary celebrations in 1992, along with cushy jobs and fat contracts in the millions for ill-defined work done (or not done) by scores of Conservative pals. It should be noted that nobody attempted to sue Cameron when On theTake was published. Given the media histrionics around the admitted abuses of the federal sponsorship program, it’s interesting to remember how Mulroney was treated when it was discovered that, just after leaving his post as prime minister, he had accepted $300,000 in cash in a hotel room from German profiteer Karlheinz Schreiber. The payment was made in 1993; National Post reporter Phil Mathias uncovered that story and wrote it in 2001; his editor at the Post, Ken Whyte (now at the helm of Maclean’s magazine) refused to print it, and none of this information surfaced publicly until 2003. To make matters worse, Mulroney had lied under oath about his “innocent” relationship with Schreiber. When the story was finally told in the pages of the Globe & Mail, Mr. Mulroney’s $300,000 was barely mentioned. Instead, the Globe made its former columnist, Stevie Cameron, the story, suggesting she was a police informer, with the inevitable connotation that she had personally victimized Mulroney in her reporting, especially in the misbegotten Airbus investigation.

RE::Everyone knows how badly Harper is doing. What the Liberals are trying to keep secret is how bad PM Martin is doing. Gee some secret you posted all the parts about Martin's bad results did you not? WOW!

Another Conservative Myth Put To Rest
THELIBERAL replied to THELIBERAL's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
RE::We all know the Liberals will deport people who criticise them and tell the media how the minister interfered with their deportation for free pizzas or free strip club seats or something like that. God you love ranting about hearsay don't you? You sure are a typical Conservative type! There is no doubt about that! -
Someone here seems to only pick parts of the poll that show Martin losing support seems they just cannot bring themselves to talk about how their man Harper is doing in the same poll. So being the good Liberal I'am I'll Post it: NOW PAY CLOSE ATTENTION HOW HARPER IS DOING:::!!!! Leader Support. Liberal leader Paul Martin remains the party leader most likely seen by Canadians as best able to lead the country (32%, down three points since April), but this proportion has slowly eroded in every survey over the past year. Opposition leader Stephen Harper is the choice of """21 percent""" of Canadians (unchanged since April). The proportion who say that NDP leader Jack Layton would make the best prime minister has increased three points to 18 percent. There has also been a steep decline in the proportion of Canadians who approve of the job being done by Conservative leader Stephen Harper. Currently, just 33 percent approve, while six in ten (59%) disapprove. As has been the case with Paul Martin, approval of Stephen Harper has been declining steadily in each survey conducted over the past year. HELLO btw thanks for the link mirror!!!

Harper Actually DID Know Better!
THELIBERAL replied to THELIBERAL's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Another Conservative no doubt that didn't get my point! WOW!!! -
RE::Perhaps it is this strange desire to have all holders of senior positions speak like bland, emotionless automatons which has caused us to have many senior positions to be held by - well, bland, emotionless automatons. It's better than having someone in a senior position talking trash like a rambo! Ever heard the phrase An Officer and a Gentleman! Apparently little of the officier cooth training didn't rub off on our General! Like others have tried to explain it's not the drift of what he said it's the words he chose to say it!

Harper Actually DID Know Better!
THELIBERAL replied to THELIBERAL's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
RE::I think you're confused - again. The sleaze was in corrupt, lying, thieving Liberals trying to bribe Grewal into joining their party in order to win a vote. I'm not confused at all. The point is Harper knew this was sleaze and he told Grewal to stop doing it YET he still stuck up for the sleaze. Why is it so difficult for you to see the problem with this? Is it because 2 Conservatives are involved including your leader? Harper:: " If you don't stop I'm warning you I'll give you a senate appointment IF WE ever get elected!!!" -
So it looks like Harper ""DID KNOW"" what Grewal was doing was wrong YET he kept standing up for the sleaze!!! Wow!!!! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...Story/National/ Grewal ignored Harper order By BRIAN LAGHI Friday, July 29, 2005 Updated at 5:00 AM EDT From Friday's Globe and Mail Ottawa — Conservative MP Gurmant Grewal continued to secretly tape talks with a Liberal Party official over the possibility of switching parties last May even though he says his own leader told him to stop. Probably went something like this :::: Harper:: " If you don't stop I'm warning you I'll give you a senate appointment IF WE ever get elected!!!"

Feds Never Helped Alberta?
THELIBERAL replied to THELIBERAL's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
RE::But yes, the federal government helped Alberta in the 20th century. Alberta received equalization from 1957 to 1964. Alberta received grants before 1930 in lieu of resource revenue. And the federal government even provided investment and loan guarantees to encourage industry in this province. I don't think anybody is saying that the federal government never did anything for Alberta. However, some people would argue that Alberta has more than repaid their generousity, and continues to do so at a high cost every year. But tell us will you where this Alberta rant comes from that says the feds did nothing for Alberta from day one? Does oil cloud one's thinking? -
The Liberal government never ever deports anybody right? Another B.S. Conservative myth EXPOSED AS FALSE! Nobody lies as much as a Liberal hating Conservative. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2005/07...1149798-cp.html Convicted Italian mob boss nabbed in Toronto area to be extradited TORONTO (CP) - One of the world's top Mafia dons has waived his extradition hearing, paving the way for a return to his homeland where he faces a 10-year jail sentence.

RE:::Get used to it: It's called Progress. I know that's an alien concept in Conservative circles, but thankfully, the Cons arn't able to Con Canadians that often. But it's not for lack of trying is it? 2 party name changes,3 party leader changes and a merger and still they are down in the polss. Not to mention I might add the adoption of the Conservative name! Hello!!!!

These awards are important to you? WOW!!! Only a Conservative would be ranting about these awards!!!! GET A LIFE!!!

Canada wins dumbest gov't at World Stupidity Award
THELIBERAL replied to Canuck E Stan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
HINT: The Liberals are slowly gaining in the polls what does that tell ya about the awards a Conservative type government would have won? WOW!!! The possibilties are endless! Dumbest government, dumbest policies, dumbest leader, dumbest bigots and the list could go on and on. -
RE::I think it may have been the way it was delivered. I don't think that Canadians as a whole take to people calling others scumbags (this is kinda of funny, no?) I think you're 100% right! It is the way he put it. He's Army right? Maybe we need a Navy Admiral to run things!
-
RE::I wonder if the Liberals really want her but I suppose every seat counts when you are not that popular. Have you checked the polls lately? How's your party of choice doing?
-
http://www.aims.ca/inthemedia.asp?typeID=4&id=290&fd=0&p=11 Early in this century, the Government in Ottawa transferred to Alberta and the other prairie provinces ownership of the natural resources within those provinces. HELLO!!!! And NOW? Alberta wants to run the WHOLE country or else it's separation! WOW!

Toyota creates more problems for Conservatives
THELIBERAL replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
RE::How does this at all hurt the Conservatives, who have never once supported an "American" health care system? No they just support the American system as a 2nd tier to our system!!!! Insurance driven healthcare?????? Ever had any dealings with insurance companies? NOT MANY I BET IF YOU SUPPORT THAT AS A 2ND TIER TO OUR HEALTHCARE SYSTEM! -
Albertans accused of red-neck & anti-gay
THELIBERAL replied to mirror's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
RE::I was trying to be a fairly liberal redneck by saying the civil union thing because I really couldn't care a less what people want to do as long as it doesn't interfere with my lifestyle. How does SSM interfere with your lifestyle? -
Well that's all I hear the Conservatives talking about! They want a U.S.A. type system to go along with our private system. Wow we should be real excited about that possibilty!

http://www.canada.com/montreal/montrealgaz...d8-dfa70ec6be90 Economy hotter than a day in July All indicators are up, unemployment down The Gazette Wednesday, July 13, 2005 It might last only as long as a balmy summer, but the Canadian economy is as hot as the weather, and the indicators show it. The economy's growth rate, the stock market, our balance of trade surplus and the dollar - all are up or predicted to move that way. About the only thing that's down is the unemployment rate, which has sunk to a 30-year low.

Oh yes give us some of this insurance driven healthcare!!!! Aw yes this is what we need to fix our system. YEAH RIGHT!!!!! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...ienceandHealth/ U.S. surgery costs found to be double those in Canada One of the first studies to directly compare the costs of surgery in Canada and the United States has found Canada's single-payer system is far more cost efficient, but it still has a lot of room for improvement.
