  1. Like in every profession there are the good and there are the bad. A good teacher may have stress yes, because they care and want every kid to succeed. My sisters, father and mother were and are that way. Most of their peers i know are in it for the money and golden pension. They brag about what they have all the time. A teacher should be compensated based on performance and those whom fail should be let go, instead of being protected by the union and moved to another school. A masters degree does not automatically mean you are a good teacher. The teachers whom made the most difference in my life were shop teachers. You know the teacher whom worked in the industry, knew what worked and didn't work! The ones that had real world experience. I have always said university is for theorists and college is for realist. I also remember my grade nine year with a teacher whom had a doctorate in math. I was near failing in here class up until she got sick just before mid exams and had to be replaced. Long behold the replacement teacher whom was a former electrician, and switched jobs mid way through his career was able to actually teach and I brought my near failing grade up to an honours grade. My grade nine year was the only year i had less than 90% in math. Was it me or the teacher???
  2. I really love a union whom moved my mail to door service to a central mail box location because the highway in which i have to cross to get my mail was to dangerous for their employees to deliever my mail to in a car, but was not to dangerous for me to carry a shovel across and clear the snow away from in front of the mail box. I really loved that peice of mail every year, to clear my snow away from in front of my mail box on a highway that averages 40,000 cars per day. Furthermore I went almost two months with out any mail because the new union employee delievered my mail to the wrong mail box, even though my mail box was clearly label with my house number on both sides and front panel door. Got to love unions.....NOT!
  3. I believe the OW/ODSP rates are more than ample. You are getting payed for doing nothing. I have to give up 40+ hours a week to support my family and then I am taxed a small amount to pay for your lazy ass. Thats slavery! Yes there maybe a legitamit reason why some people are on walfare, but those people are not on for long. I believe everyone can work! Those on disablity can do something worth while and employers should be encouraged to hire these people. I am forced daily to impliment special equipment and designs to acoomindate the disabled and therefore the disabled should be able to work. People should be given a hand up! Not a Hand Out!
  4. I am employed full time 40+ plus hour a week. I am also a project manager in the engineering feild and have been for 15+ years. I also manage projects from $500,000 to $35 mil. Guess what! I do not own a cell phone, nor do I plan on owning one. My boss pays for the phones in the office and that is all I need to do my job successfully. To most people a cell phone is a source of entertainment, nothing more!
  5. No mostly the young have smartphones. The same generation that will not have pensions.
  6. Actually it make Harper a politician, no different from any other politician from any of the parties.
  7. I vote for the person whom best represents my interests. Unfortunately, I have yet to find one who does. Most people vote against someone, not for.
  8. As a resident of OntarIowe, I can tell you we are prisoners of the Liberal dictatorship known as Toronto. Whom seems to be the only city that benefits from the provincial Liberal dictatorship. At the federal level the Liebrals caters to Quebec, while the ROC suffers.
  9. "Do the math Scotty ..( I'll do it for you as you clearly did not research any numbers or facts before posting this). That's an average of 9.3 fires a DAY!!! " 9.3 fires a day is not a lot of fires when you consider Ottawa has at least 25 stations. The problem is some stations do more work then others, and certain days of the year are busier then others.
  10. Maybe the money is not for more prisons, but instead replacing and upgrading the prisons we have now?? Both the prisoners and prison employees have bitched aboat the state of the prisons we have in Canada. Buildings need to be maintained and yes that cost money.
