Pliny Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 "Joanne Sénécal, just appointed at latest Liberal Party savior, must be waking up in cold sweats just thinking about Dion out on the hustings." LOL Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
maldon_road Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 The people will most likely see that it is the Liberal stalling that leads to an election. With the way things are going it is likely that Dion will take the heat for Liberal appointees. Poor, poor Stephane. Harper will survive the throne speech vote. He will bring in legislation (drugs, criminal code) that will turn Steph and Jack apoplectic but which will have public support. Then he will watch the fun as the Oppos figure out whether to bring him down. Quote If the men do not die well it will be a black matter for the king that led them to it.

old_bold&cold Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 I think that it will be the liberals who will support the speech from the throne. But I aslo will not rule out NDP support, if Harper puts in any goodies about tax cuts and transfers. Layton has eaten crow before and he would not be above asking for second helpings. If Harper does any kind of relief on taxes, Layton will say that over rides his principals on the rest. We all know it for what it is, but he will try to spin it any way he can. I worry more about the Bloc. I feel when they think they are being oinched they will again inflame the seperatist rhectoric, to see if they can again grab on to those feelings of resentment. I have read in the news about the little squabbles the PQ is having with their sign police and the wording on signs for Quebec City etc. They are feeling the hurt from the provincial elections and now as a wounded animal are again going back to basic instincts. I think that the Bloc, may well follow that same plan, and that will not be good for Canada. So yes I do hope Harper can pull off his Quebec plan and get the support locked up, if he can. I think a stable Quebec is a good thing for the rest of Canada, but many here I am sure will see it differently. There does not seem to be any chance of Dion being able to stabilized the quebec voters, and NDP well lets be realistic and say they have one seat, and that is about it. Harper is just the natural choice for a stable quebec within Canada. I never would have thought that I would say this, in this context. But it is the truth as I see it anyways. Quote
