M.Dancer Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 You think it's silly to respect an idealistic dream even though it may not be realistic? It's not as silly as respecting war but being afraid to take part in it. Never mind..... Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us

M.Dancer Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 (edited) I think your both forgetting that pacifism did work...Gandhi was successful. His methods worked. A few points 1) The movie version of history romantisised the events. The pacific aspect was not the deciding factor. 2) Any other nation except Britain and India would still be a colony. 3) The extent of how little the pacifism actually worked is seen immediately after partition where upwards to million Indians (Muslim and Hindu) killed each other. 4) India was one of the first places on earth where anti terrorism legislation was introduced, in 1915.
