hiti Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 (edited) Personal project: Giving kids a head for businessROY MacGREGOR From Saturday's Globe and Mail July 27, 2007 at 7:13 PM EDT With the native presence in Canadian law schools growing steadily, Paul Martin's personally financed Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative has quite a different goal: to encourage more young natives to study business. “Knowledge of economics is very slight,” Mr. Martin says of the aboriginal community. Obviously lawyers are needed, he notes, but so, too, are accountants and economists and entrepreneurs. “If you've lived in a fly-in community all your life,” he asks, “what do you know about the modern economy? “Hell, I grew up in Windsor – and I knew nothing.” http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...8/BNStory/FrontSoon we will again have the government that Canadians deserve and the Kelowna Accord will go ahead. Plus the deal for cities and the day care agreements with the provinces. And once again women equality be not be wiped off the government web site, literacy funding will again appear, personal income taxes will again be lowered, personal exemptions will again be raised and seniors will no longer lose their retirement savings to a Flim Flam finance minister. ---- The quoted text was edited down due to cross-posting the entire article and the quotation feature was included for the sake of clarity. The title of this thread was initially: What makes him a great man and Canadian subtitle: Thank you It has now been altered to convey a more precise description of the topic with the hopes of instilling a fruitful discussion. g_bambino Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 ...the government that Canadians deserve... Ah, the fascism that taints the Liberals so. Liberal party to Canadians: you deserve our governance. Don't agree? Well, you're obviously not a real Canadian. And probably a racist, sexist, bigot to boot. Quote
gc1765 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 There is another good article Here . I applaud his efforts, especially considering that he is retiring from politics and thus is not doing this for "political reasons". I'm sure he could make a lot more money if he went back into business. Quote Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable. - Jeffrey Sachs (from his book "The End of Poverty")
Posit Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Ah, the fascism..... Sorry dude but fascism is extreme conservatism and a direction where many CPC members would like the party to go. Quote
jefferiah Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 (edited) Ah, the fascism..... Sorry dude but fascism is extreme conservatism and a direction where many CPC members would like the party to go. Start at any point on the globe. You go far left, I go far right. What will eventually happen? (Note: We can use cars and planes and boats and even argos.) jefferiah Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Raise your left arm and look at yourself in the mirror. Pull a pendulum to the left and you create the momentum for it to swing right. Quote "Governing a great nation is like cooking a small fish - too much handling will spoil it." Lao Tzu
g_bambino Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Ah, the fascism..... Sorry dude but fascism is extreme conservatism and a direction where many CPC members would like the party to go. Hence, perhaps, the irony that the Liberal party styles itself as, well, liberal. Quote
