jbg Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 If I go back a bit, will I not find your name on three or four threads each day against Paul Martin's government? Why didn't you suggest a thread called Paul Martin where you could put all vile and venomous attacks there? Or is this just another hypocritical defense of Harper? You won't find any such threads, since I joined the Board in May or June 2006. Last I checked, the Liberal government was turfed on January 23, 2006.Let's see what we see on the Boards right now:Tories in Trouble: Yup. That's what the papers were saying about the detainees of Afghanistan again this week. Vile and full of hatred? Nope. Harper's Bullying Tactics: Those were the words of the newspapers again from quotes made by Tories. Did Harper say "Sue me!" Well, yes, he did. Did most commentators this week say it wasn't helpful in dealing with provincial allies. You bet they did. The list goes on. It's thread proliferation, not the idea, that gets me. One anti-Harper thread every two or three days should more than fill the need for (blue) vitriol.Hey, haven't you said things about Chretien and the way he looked and talked? Why, you're a hater then! I think you even managed to criticize French Canadians with racist and bigoted statements. And by God, I'll point it out to you every time No, what bothers me is that he could speak perfect English (I know two people who have friends who've dined with the Chretiens) and he chooses not to for reasons of affect. As far as Dion goes, he could show the country he wants to lead some respect by learning the language. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Always remember that when you are in the right you can afford to keep your temper, and when you are in the wrong you cannot afford to lose it. - J.J. Reynolds. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
Who's Doing What? Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 My IQ is 75. So if you were an inclusive Canadian, you'd want to fund a government program to help my debating skills. And if he were a Rebublican, he leave you to beg for money on the streets, then throw you in jail for vagrancy. Quote Harper differed with his party on some key policy issues; in 1995, for example, he was one of only two Reform MPs to vote in favour of federal legislation requiring owners to register their guns. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/election/bio/harper.html "You've got to remember that west of Winnipeg the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are either recent Asian immigrants or recent migrants from eastern Canada: people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society." (Stephen Harper, Report Newsmagazine, January 22, 2001)

And by the way, I'm a liberal Democrat. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." As far as Dion goes, he could show the country he wants to lead some respect by learning the language. You might have been here since last spring but I've seen enough posts from you on Chretien threads *after* he was long since gone from the electoral scene. Let me tell you that some of those threads were far greater than what seemed to warrant a man that wasn't around anymore. As far as the attacks on language go, they are often veiled attempts at attacking French Canadians. We see a lot of those anti-Quebec threads appear on these pages. I am one of the people who have moved most of the threads on election polls and Afghanistan to one central thread. Other issues deserve their own threads. However, if you would like a thread called "Harper, what has he done wrong? The latest...", we could always start one. That way you could avoid that thread and only read the one on sunshine stories of the Harper government elsewhere. Quote
BC_chick Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Yet another hate Harper thread. I was starting to get bored with the hate Dion threads. Harper is, after all, the PM. He should have more threads in ratio. Quote It's kind of the worst thing that any humans could be doing at this time in human history. Other than that, it's fine." Bill Nye on Alberta Oil Sands

We see a lot of those anti-Quebec threads appear on these pages. You don't read me right there. What I oppose is the foisting of French on areas outside of St. Boniface and similar areas and Quebec. I am a big supporter of "de facto" language use rather than official languages. I do not, I repeat do not support moves in the US to make English the official language. The furthest I would go is to have it declared a "unifying" language, and maybe ban Federal money for "English as a Second Language".I am one of the people who have moved most of the threads on election polls and Afghanistan to one central thread. And I thought that was an excellent idea.Other issues deserve their own threads. However, if you would like a thread called "Harper, what has he done wrong? The latest...", we could always start one. That way you could avoid that thread and only read the one on sunshine stories of the Harper government elsewhere.I'm agnostic on the subject.
