M.Dancer Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Asked when the UK and US should leave, he said: "I think in one or two years we will be able to recruit our own army forces and say goodbye to our friends." He added that he considered Prime Minister Tony Blair to be a "hero" and said he hoped Gordon Brown would continue his work. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6647865.stm I think he is optimistic. It will take longer before the Iraqi army is capable enough to fight the civil war on their own. Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
Liam Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Of course, because he wants to go on vacation for two months and doesn't want to come back from Cannes to a decimated Iraq with the September surge deadline looming. One to two more years should allow him to set himself up nicely with an apartment in Geneva. Quote
jbg Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 If the Sunnis got their ostensible wish, the US out of the way, I'm sure they'd do just great against the Shi'ite majority. They'd get a disproportionate share of the virgins. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Higgly Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 He wouldn't last a New York minute if they left and he knows it. This guy's afraid for his life and he knows that even a strong Iraqi military is not likely to protect him. A strong military is more likely to launch a coup. Queen Noor of Jordan was on CNN (Wolf Blitzer) yesterday publicizing the Iraqi refugee crisis. There are currently a million Iraqi refugees in Jordan and they are costing the government of Jordan a billion dollars a year. This is a very poor country. You have to feel badly for Jordan which always ends up as collateral damage in these refugee crises, starting with the Palestinian refugee crisis resulting from the creation of Israel. She went on to talk about equal numbers of Iraqi refugees in Syria, Egypt and Lebanon. Less than two years before Bush is gone, now. Quote "We have seen the enemy and he is us!". Pogo (Walt Kelly).
bush_cheney2004 Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Actually, Queen Noor was publicizing a worldwide movement of mothers to fight for peace, Mother's Day for Peace, yada, yada, yada. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/05/10/...=rss_topstories http://www.rediscovermothersday.org/ The Bush Administration sought to double US foreign aid to Jordan, which has been flowing since 1951.
