rrabbit Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 OK, I'll try to be more obvious with the abo humour on racism. I'm a very dangerous man this week. I saw an old Billy Jack film this past weekend! After the film I got to wondering about the "halfbreed" hero of my teenage years, a hero from another age with different sensibilities. I was surprised to find the site below and that good old Billy was fix'in to come out of retirement to open another can of whop ass for the Republicans. http://www.billyjack.com/ The site seems to be up intermittently. It worked on Sunday, but, can't be found this AM. Keep trying at other times if your browser can't find the site at the first try. It must be running on "Indian time"! If it never works again or you don't want to bother trying again, the highlight is Tom Laughlin is mightily displeased with the Republican regime as well as its Democratic opposition and the general decay of "American" democracy. After an over thirty year hiatus a new Billy Jack movie will be released some time this year containing these themes. Supposedly some "Forest Gump" style interaction with presidential footage featuring George B. Go Billy Go! God its great to cheer for old heroes making a comeback. I get pumped about Billy Jack the same way Italians from Philly get pumped by Rocky Balboa! Quote

jbg Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 The site was working today. It's contents are horrific, IMHO. Maybe "One Tin Soldier" is the only good thing Billy Jack accomplished. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Always remember that when you are in the right you can afford to keep your temper, and when you are in the wrong you cannot afford to lose it. - J.J. Reynolds. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
bush_cheney2004 Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Tom Laughlin is/was a potential rival for "Ahnold" as governor of California. Relevance to Canadian federal politics is a mystery to me. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
madmax Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Tom Laughlin is/was a potential rival for "Ahnold" as governor of California. Relevance to Canadian federal politics is a mystery to me. Absolutely none. But, I recall Born Losers, and the first Billy Jack movie. I can't remember the 2nd one at all. Billy Jack should be a Republican or Independant. Billy Jack was the violent no bullshit good guy with a chip on his shoulder. He was a Clint Eastwood figure and Ironically embraced by the peace movement. The idea of pacifism to solve everything, just didn't work with Billy Jack. Go ahead and hate your neighbour. Quote

OK, but "Jack" was not the first time Hollywood exploited violent half-breed pacifism. Steve McQueen in "Nevada Smith" comes to mind (1966). Then there was Sheriff Pusser of "Walking Tall", "Jack's" TV inspired "Kung Fu", and as you mentioned, several Clint Eastwood yarns. Interestingly, many are set in the old "lawless" American West.
