jdobbin Posted May 5, 2007 Author Report Posted May 5, 2007 And that lie would be...? I think the reference was to a joke that was not understood by the Harper lovers: that Harper gets double for his money by having a stylist and a psychic. This is unlike the lie that Harper fired Michelle Muntean. Quote
guyser Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Ask and you shall receive. Funny. Harper's stylist doubles as his psychic adviser. How do we know thats a lie. She billed herself as both a stylist and psychic. We only know what Harpers admitted to. And that is he hired a stylist/psychic. I guess if he decides to fess up, then we will all know. But until then, it festers......... Still minor potatoes. Quote
jdobbin Posted May 5, 2007 Author Report Posted May 5, 2007 I guess if he decides to fess up, then we will all know. But until then, it festers......... Day after day Harper lets it go on. I thought he was smart about stuff like this. You get the information out there and let the people decide and move on. Can't really move on when the information has to wait over thirty days. It also doesn't help when people lie that the make-up artist was fired. Quote

Yeah, past governments have lost track of 1 billion and this is just not that big a deal. Education, Medicine, immigration, these are the issues that we need to be holding the politicians' feet to the fire over. Quote

Michael Bluth Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 It is why it is such a shock that the man who said he would bring transparency to government hid the costs and continues to hide the cost of something that he repudiated in the past. Hiding the costs would imply he has ignored a parliamentary deadline. The deadline hasn't passed. His past repudiation is also tenuous. Harper is by no means perfect, there are a lot bigger things a thoughtful, reasonable critic could fault him for. Attacking him on everything and anything, while focusing on something this minor is very weak. Quote No one has ever defeated the Liberals with a divided conservative family. - Hon. Jim Prentice

He could have quite easily said , Yes she is on our payroll, I need help on styles (and recd head nods in agreement from everyone) we pay her this much. Over and done with. Would not even be yesterdays news. It would be buried under 40 feet of landfill because it would be so last month....or was it March? I dont think anyone in this country wants ourt PM looking like a doofus. So , get the damn stylist, and disclose the info. It matters not what I think of him.Love or hate him, I DO want him to look good on the world stage. Quote

Kind of puts things into perspective, jdobbin not withstanding. Quote

They should defend the expense if they believe in it. Instead, they act ashamed and initially denied Muntean was employed. Quote

Harper would have been better off to provide the salary figure up front. The biggest fault of the Conservative Government so far has been an inability to deal with the unexpected or when forced to respond without a script. The Conservatives really need to make some serious decisions this summer. They need to select some new priorities and decide when they want to have the next election. Their most serious problems have come since they ran out of steam on the five priorities. Either decide on a issue worthy of an election in the fall or come up with another year's worth of priorities to govern on. jdobbin Posted May 5, 2007 Author Report Posted May 5, 2007 I wonder if Muntean will be accompanying Harper on his upcoming overseas trip and how much it will cost. Quote

The biggest fault of the Conservative Government so far has been an inability to deal with the unexpected or when forced to respond without a script. Well said. Case in point: the utter lack of preparedness of Passport Canada for large numbers of Canadians suddenly wanting passports. It makes one worry how this government would respond to a serious security issue, e.g. a terrorist attack or other unscripted disaster requiring assistance. Will this government try to get off the hook by blaming the citizens for not anticipating the disaster? Quote
jdobbin Posted May 5, 2007 Author Report Posted May 5, 2007 It is now 32 days till the Tories must report to Parliament of Harper's make-up artist. They just continue to drag this thing out. Quote

He just continues to flog this dead horse. Hopefully they don't command him to go postal. Quote No one has ever defeated the Liberals with a divided conservative family. - Hon. Jim Prentice
jdobbin Posted May 5, 2007 Author Report Posted May 5, 2007 It makes one worry how this government would respond to a serious security issue, e.g. a terrorist attack or other unscripted disaster requiring assistance. Given what they have been doing with the Afghan file, they would delete it out and cite national security like they did with the Federal Court this week. Then they would probably lie about it as some here have lied in regards to Michelle Muntean being fired. Quote
jdobbin Posted May 6, 2007 Author Report Posted May 6, 2007 It is now 31 days till we find out how much Harper's make-up artist costs. Will their support drop even further in the next weeks? Last two polls have been a statistical tie. It has been two bad weeks for the Tories and this was an issue they could have dispensed with weeks ago. Quote

Didn't you condemn Martin for doing this or am I thinking of someone else? Quote
